Alcala is known to be very smart with a high IQ, but it was his charming ability that got him selected for ABC prime-time show, the dating game in 1978. Although Alcala was a convicted rapist and registered sex offender, he was accepted as a contestant. On the show he was introduced as a “successful photographer who got his start when his father found him in the darkroom at the age of 13, fully developed between takes, you might find him skydiving or motorcycling. Please welcome Rodney Alcala!” Alcala won over Bradshaw with his charming personality, but she would later refuse to go out with him. This was not his first victims though as his first victim was an eight year old little

One of the quotes from Alonza that really made be think was when he said “I’m learning how to do things at 28, that I should have learned at 15.” The man who defended Alonza said that he believed that he believed that Alonza had potentially suffered permanent harm from being locked up on the California prison system. The younger the individual is that committed the crime, the greater chance that there is for the person to be successfully rehabilitated. Alonza spoke in great detail about the conditions that were present inside of the prisons, and how they had affected him after he was released from prison, once referencing that he was once concerned that his mother was using a knife without permission (Stickup Kid 2014). Being in that prison from such a young age had a dramatic effect on the development of that young man. Additionally one more latent function that I saw from the video was the amount of prescription drugs that the state had placed Alonza on in order to manage all of his new psychiatric issues. The number one problem that I see with that, is that the prison system seemed to have given Alonza all of those issues, since he wasn 't suffering from them before he went to prison. Additionally this created a problem of who is paying for him to be on those prescription drugs because that is not a cheap undertaking, and Alonza would have a hard time paying for all of those drugs himself with his lack of job skills. Ultimately you would have to believe that the State of California is paying for them which is a burden on the day to day tax
“Everybody Loves Raymond” is a television show that only few people today can actually say they had not seen this sitcom. It was one of the highest rated show during it run on CBS television network but has anyone ever noticed how much of a gender stereotype bonanza this show was? Most sitcoms follow the same pattern with the primary goal to make us laugh that, we tend to ignore the obvious and just assume this was the expected behavior for men, women even children in our society. I watched the first two episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond, the show was about a stay at home mother Debra and her husband Raymond who goes to work, while her in-laws who lives across the street are always barging in to her home without a thought about what
"It mattered that education was changing me. It never ceased to matter. My brother and sisters would giggle at our mother’s mispronounced words. They’d correct her gently. My mother laughed girlishly one night, trying not to pronounce sheep as ship. From a distance I listened sullenly. From that distance, pretending not to notice on another occasion, I saw my father looking at the title pages of my library books. That was the scene on my mind when I walked home with a fourth-grade companion and heard him say that his parents read to him every night. (A strange sounding book-Winnie the Pooh.) Immediately, I wanted to know, what is it like?" My companion, however, thought I wanted to know about the plot of the book. Another day, my mother surprised me by asking for a "nice" book to read. "Something not too hard you think I might like." Carefully I chose one, Willa Cather’s My ‘Antonia. But when, several weeks later, I happened to see it next to her bed unread except for the first few pages, I was furious and suddenly wanted to cry. I grabbed up the book and took it back to my room and placed it in its place, alphabetically on my shelf." (p.626-627)

“Do it, do it, do it!” These words bounced against Mark David Chapman’s mind before he shot five fatal rounds of his .38 pistol into the famous John Lennon’s back. Many people believe that the novel “The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger had heavily influenced and triggered Chapman’s assassination of the famous Beatles member. Curiously, there are three well known serial killers and murderers who idolized Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye”. So, why were these three, Mark David Chapman, John W. Hinckley, Jr. and, Robert John Bardo obsessed with “The Catcher in the Rye”?
Writing a story is pretty difficult. Writing a short story is even harder, there is so much that has to be accomplished; in both commercial and literary fiction! The plot, the structure, whether it has a happy, unhappy, or indeterminate ending. There must be artistic unity, chance, coincidence, rising action, climax, falling action. Most importantly there must be characterization. Characters make the story! “anyone can summarize what a person in a story has done, but a writer needs considerable skill and insight into human beings to describe convincingly who a person is” [page 168]
Ronald Reagan is arguably one of the most influential men in American history. Reagan’s childhood, and more specifically his relationship with his father pushed him to develop the strong religious faith, was instrumental in forming him into the man he was. Although there are many people at OHS who exhibit the qualities of the Rotary Four Way Test, I believe one individual stands out the most. The person I believe exhibits those qualities every day of their life would be Selena Ellison. Not only is she kind to everyone one she knows, but she is willing to help them no matter the circumstances. She is selfless and is willing to go the extra mile to let others know they always have someone in their life to lean on. During the time I have known Selena, I have come to realize that I will never meet a more kind hearted person than her. Selena Ellison passes the Rotary Four Way Test with ease because of how caring, courageous, and thoughtful she is.

Many actors have studied Stanislavsky innovative technique for actors, emphasizing emotional truth and inner motivation and known today as the Stanislavsky Method, revolutionized modern acting. This method has taught actors several techniques that have improved their style. Actor, Al Pacino is one of the greatest actors of all time. He studied at The Actors Studio, in New York and it has been the main source and inspiration for a naturalistic acting technique known in America as "the Method." Under its artistic director, Lee Strasberg, the Studio adapted many of the techniques developed by Russian director Konstantin Stanisalvsky for training actors to feel and realistically portray the emotions of their characters. The intense emotional realism achieved by workshop students—who have included Marlon Brando, James Dean, Geraldine Page, Rod Steiger, Robert De Niro, and Jane Fonda—has influenced actors worldwide.
