Everyone has a goal of some sort, either it's making it to the varsity team or passing a test; their mission is to complete that goal successfully. In the John G. Avildsen directed film, "Rocky", we see an uneducated but kind-hearted Italian-American bozer that also works in a meat warehouse and as a debt collector for a loan shark in a tough neighborhood in Philadelphia. Avildsen demonstrates the struggles of Rocky Balboa as he reaches his goal of winning the world heavyweight championship from one of the best boxers, Apollo Creed.
During the year of 1976, there was a man named Rocky Balboa who lived in a tough neighborhood in Philadelphia. While boxing to make a living, he didn't make enough money so he turned to hustling for a man named, Buddy. During those struggling times, Rocky began to develop feelings for a shy girl named Adrian Pennino, who also worked in a local pet store. As the two of them began to establish a relationship, Rocky didn't realize he was going to get the shocking chance of his life by competting against the world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed. It was going to be the "Italian Stallion" versus Apollo Creed.
The uneducated but

What I liked about the film was how the director build up Rocky throughout the movie. It started off with how Rocky got kicked out of his own locker, how he fails to impress the shy girl he likes, Adrian, to being challenged by Apollo Creed, to training for his big match, and to boxing against the world heavyweight champion. It was very fascinating to see the development throughout the film! I don't have much dislikes towards this movie, it's a classic that I enjoy to watch every once in a while. If I were to dislike something about this film, it would have to be that they didn't go in-depth to the character Rocky's past, I feel like it would've been nice to get to known our dumb-loving boxer
Apollo Creed destroyed his opponents in the ring. Being the son of such of a boxing legend, Adonis Johnson, has a lot to live up to. “Creed”, is a 2015 film directed by Ryan Coolger. Glory was what Adonis craved, so he chased it to the city of Philadelphia, the home of his father’s most infamous defeat. One of the many sequels to the, ‘Rocky’, films, ‘Creed’, champions the idea of how sport can develop an individual into a hero, someone to inspire the masses. This film portrays Adonis’s struggle to become as great as his father was. Alone, Adonis would not succeed, so he seeks the help of Rocky Balboa. A partnership develops between them; raw talent soons matures into a lean, fighting machine. When the world champion, ‘Pretty Ricky’ Conlan, challenges Creed because of his father’s extensive legacy, Adonis sets out to prove that he isn’t in his father’s shadow. Skill, strength and stamina are qualities he sets to prove he has, that he is more than another famous name.
For the fighting scenes, the stylistic features parallel LaMotta’s own life at the time of the fight, and thus serves to emphasize particular qualities of it. For example, 31 minutes into the film is the 1943 fight against Sugar Ray Robinson, at this point, LaMotta’s life is at its greatest point, in the previous scene, LaMotta has successfully courted his second wife Vikki. The stylistic features of this scene emphasizes LaMotta’s boxing skill and control over the ring, the mastery of the sport he displays paralleling the quality of life that LaMotta has been able to achieve for himself at that moment. The establishing long shot shows an expanse of white space in the ring as LaMotta in a boxing stance lunges aggressively towards Robinson,
Spennymoor is a town with industrial origins, but the countryside nearby has an unexpected romantic connection. The connection is with Whitworth Hall, not far from the River Wear to the north of the town. Here once lived none other than a certain Mr Robert Shafto, whose name is immortalised in the well known North Country Ballad;
Chuck Berry is one of the founders of rock and roll. He is the only one living today. He has performed for millions of people with his famous “Duck Walk.” He still has what Corliss & Bland describe as a slim, toned body, wavy hair drenched in Valvoline oil, and a sharply cut masculine chin and cheeks etched with pain and promise. Even today he only wants a Lincoln Town Car, his Fender Bassman amp, and his guitar. Chuck Berry has had for decades one of the shortest and most ironclad contracts in the music business (Jacobson 6).
With the help of superb editing, sound, mise en scene, and cinematography, this film cannot be topped. The fist scene of the movie creates an atmosphere that helps the viewer know that he/she will enjoy this wonderful classic. Throughout the movie there are surprises and fun that makes this a movie that people will want to watch again and again. Gene Kelly said it best when he said, "Dignity, always dignity. " That is what this movie has from beginning to end, dignity.
Al Capone was the son of two poor Italian immigrants, which at that time in history meant you didn't matter, so he had to find guidance with the only people that took an interest in him but unfourtnally for him it was some of the biggest mob leaders in New York. Even with that kind of influence hard to believe that a once soft spoken, intelligent kid from a good family would grow up to run a major city with blood, bullets, and booze.
The Fight Club, directed by David Fincher, constructs an underground world of men fighting with one another to find the meaning to their lives. Ed Norton and Brad Pitt are the main characters who start the fight club. They make a set of rules that everyone must follow. The fight club exists because individuals get weighted down by possessions, causing them to miss the deep meaning of life. Most of the people in the fight club hold service jobs or lower level management jobs that are meaningless.
For example I didn’t like when Gilbert took a major turn in his life. I can’t say much, unless I give away like the entire movie. Gilbert takes a turn in his life right before Becky teaches him that the most important things in life are family, love, and loyalty. That was like the worst thing that happened in this movie, the best thing is probably Becky. Becky is the best thing that happened in this movie because she had like the best relationship with Gilbert and Arnie. Honestly it was kind of cute… Becky's relationship with Arnie is kind of like the relationship only certain people would have with their siblings. Becky, Gilbert and Arnie all have a relationship that isn’t forgettable. When you see people on the street with this kind of relationship, you’ll
In the short story called Amigo Brothers Piri Thomas explores a boxing bout between friends. Piri Thomas explains how two friends trained for the championship fight. Then a tension grew between them.
Although I enjoyed the main portion of the movie, there were some obvious likes and dislikes in my opinion. I believe that I learned from this movie and it helped me understand more of what the people of that time were feeling.
I trained for weeks, it was all leading up to that night. It was September twelfth, the night of the DeMotte Boxing Club’s Fighting Fundraiser. I was fighting my friend, Brian Hinson, We trained together for the fight. The nervousness started to eat at me by the second fight. We were the eighth. I knew he felt it to.
The cinematography demonstrated talented and beautiful images which is key. When pictures appear unclear, unrealistic, or obstructed, that affects the overall movie. The lighting brings a thrilling, exciting mood to the screen which is also very important as a viewer especially when there is absence of speech. In particular, the lighting in the scene on the deserted island gives off a tone on eerie stillness, almost as if you yourself are in the situation that Alec and The Black Stallion encountered. Costuming was incredibly real. From the outfits of spectators at the race track, to the boy in worn out clothes on the island, it all only lead the story line to seem more actual. Music fit each scene well, however it was the one detail that reminded me how outdated the movie truly
Rocky Balboa is the sixth film in the Rocky series that tells the story of an underdog boxer who rises from the pit of poverty into a life of wealth. Only striving for what is earned out of life, Rocky struggles throughout the film series trying to achieve a sense of happiness. In the sixth film, Rocky Balboa, some of the struggles he undergoes is the abandonment of his son, Robert., and losing his wife, Adrian, to cancer; forming the discontent he has with himself for feeling that has failed the ones closest to him. Looking for a sense of completion, Rocky attempts to renew his boxing license with The Pennsylvania Athletic Commission. Initially I viewed the Rocky series as a franchise that focused primarily on brawns rather than brains; a preconceived notion that lead me to believe the
We should never be afraid to take challenges if we wanted to achieve our goal and to be successful in life. In the movie, Adonis didn’t want to use “Creed” this name because people will compare him with his father – Apollo Creed, and he was scared that he was not able to make it. Nonetheless, he wanted to built his own legacy by using the name Johnson without relying on the popularity of his father. He was so striving with the burden that not only others gave him, but also the pressure that he gave to himself. After Adonis won Leo in the fight, the news that he’s the descendant of Apollo Creed made him became famous. When Adonis went to support Bianca
The movie is based on the coming up of rocky form amateur boxing to challenging a true heavyweight fighter. Sylvester Stalone was the best choice in my opinion to play the role of the main character, he played his part so well that he is known as a
