Being one of the oldest known residential communities in the US has its perks. Like having cultural background that has stayed through the ages. The French Quarter is known as one of the most endangered historical places in the country. You can walk the city by the shops, restaurants, and see live performances of famous
The tithe assessments were done in Dromore in 1834. There were four Michael McGuigans noted in four different townlands.
Could you imagine traveling the United States in just your specially made camper and the only company you have is your pet? John Steinbeck, the author of "Travels with Charley" wrote about his 1960's road trip about visiting multiple states. "What are Americans like today?"; that was the question that started his journey. His travels began in Long Island, New York, then he followed the outer border of the United States; from Maine to the Northwest. After he traveled to the Pacific Northwest, he went to Salinas Valley in California then across Texas, and through the Deep South. Finally after that 10,000 mile journey, he made is back safe and sound to New York. This rough and long trip included: meeting new people, exploring, and visiting different states.
While there are many neighborhoods in New Orleans, Gentilly is a large historical community. It is home to three universities. Dillard University, Southern University at New Orleans, and the University of New Orleans are located throughout the area (The Gentilly Neighborhood 1). Gentilly is a peaceful community which includes parks, historical neighborhoods, and golf courses (The Gentilly Neighborhood 1).
Yellowstone National Park lies mostly in Wyoming, but three of the park’s entrances are located in southern Montana. People go to Yellowstone National park to see the view and the glaciers, some people go there to just go on a vacation to see the wildlife (Av2 books).
For example, Mardi Gras is celebrated heavily in New Orleans. It always has been. Everyone loves the parades and all the food that's available for tourists to try. After the parades are over, a lot of people like to just hang around on Bourbon St. and have fun and get drunk. Another event that's much known is Bayou Classic. Everyone goes to New Orleans for Bayou Classic. They go to watch the football game. They also go for the concerts. They have different singers that would go down there during the classics and perform. Even some of the celebrities will be there. These events really mean a lot to people all
Stepping out of my first plane ride, I experience an epiphany of new culture, which seems to me as a whole new world. Buzzing around my ears are conversations in an unfamiliar language that intrigues me. It then struck me that after twenty hours of a seemingly perpetual plane ride that I finally arrived in The United States of America, a country full of new opportunities. It was this moment that I realized how diverse and big this world is. This is the story of my new life in America.
Imagine living in Mid-city; There are several reasons why Mid-city is the heart of New Orleans and its people. People think Mid-City is just a normal but its not, its the eye catcher of New Orleans. Mid-city is the area where all cultures (Black, White, Indian, Chinese and more) meet (Mid-City Snapshot 1). The population after Hurricane Katrina decreased dramatically. Most homes are modern old architecture shot-gun houses. The violence reached a climatic rate after Katrina. Now, the city is under recovery and still progressing in the movement (Mid-City Snapshot 1).
It's famous for it's beignets, a square-shaped donut minus the hole, dusted w/ powdered sugar, great w/ coffee. The culture of New Orleans is at its best during Mardi Gras. However, so are hotels, so if you're planning on making the trip and staying in downtown New Orleans, make reservations a few months in advance. Despite the French Quarters old historic appeal, there are many excellent hotels to stay at.

Bourbon Street known as rue bourbon in French sits in the heart of one of the oldest neighborhoods in New Orleans called the French Quarters. I called Bourbon Street an all-night party. Most people come from all around the world to enjoy the festivities. They also have locals that will go on Bourbon to have a nice time. Bourbon Street can also be like Halloween, you do not know if you are getting a trick or treat.
Criminal activities such as sexual assaults, murders, arson and the dumping of dead bodies. The homes in the French Quarter and surrounding areas of New Orleans have also been defaced by vandalism and graffiti. Blighted homes are hindering the neighborhood because of the ugly writings and spray painting on the building and even shattered glass from young kids. Many times they can have splattered paint over the property of homeowners. This is very disgraceful and heartbreaking for the homeowners who have invested their time and hard earned money, and they pay taxes for area. Now the homeowners and neighbors are left with the cleanup of trying to restore the beauty of what was once their before the criminals destroyed the beauty of their homes by their uncontrollable
There are many changes that can happen in a person’s life. Some changes are very tiny and would not affect my life very much. When I first arrived in this country, I realized that a tremendous transformation would happen in my life both physically and mentally. After spending more than eight months in the United States, I firmly believe that moving to the United States is a beneficial change for me.
People migrate from their native lands to foreign countries for better life. Moving to another country is not easy. They face a lot of problems. In 2015, I moved from my country to US, after I got married. Everything was totally different from language to culture. I found it a little hard to adjust here, but my family supported me to grow and to learn. I have been in the US for five years now, and I can tell that my perspective has grown personally from nothing to everything.
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
In this paper I’m going to share with you, a very special event in my life. The day I came to the United States of America, a day I will never forget. A day I used to dream of even at the young age of 6. The day I reunited with my Beloved Mother.
