One risk that I am scared/hesitant to take is moving out of my parents’ house. I would love to be able to move out of my parents’ house that I have been living in for the past 19 years. I would like to do this in order to gain more independency so I am not always relying on my parents. One reason I am holding back from moving out is because if I move out it is like I am moving on and my parents won’t be there to support me. Another reason as to why I haven’t moved out is because I am afraid of going into debt and not being able to make payments. Living at home I am always able to see my parents and talk with them and I think of them as my support network. If I move out I think I would be losing my solid support system that I know and
In the article "Ten Ways We Get the Odds Wrong", author Maia Szalavitz emphasizes "why worrying about risk is itself risky" (255). While behaving riskily can lead to bad outcomes, having anxiety, being worried, or being afraid of the outcome of some risks can be dangerous to your body both physically and mentally. According to Szalavitz, fear can be one of the scariest things out there. Even President Franklin D. Roosevelt said that the "only thing to fear is fear itself" (FDR's first inaugural address). Both of these sources let the reader know that fear can affect their body's physical and mental well-being. I can attest to this being true through multiple personal experiences.
What triggers, and to what severity, drive one to the last resort of risking
Moving out of your home can sometimes be a tough determination to make whether it is for a better living or finding jobs; most of the time, I find it brave to do so.
This affects me as a person because facing my fear and overcoming it is really hard to me because I usually don’t face my fear in person because I usually face my fear in dreams and I don’t like seeing it. I remember in the past when I got so mad and almost got into a rage mode which made me feel really bad in the inside. My sister got me really mad by doing something I told her not to do, but instead of myself getting really mad, I was able to handle my anger and not get really mad. I got really happy because I was able to overcome my fear of not getting really mad and not feeling really bad in the inside. A future fear is me not doing good in school or other sport activities. To me this is a big fear because when I do bad in swimming and school then I get in trouble by my parents but if I do good in swimming and school then my parents get proud of me. If I do good in swimming and school then it means I am overcoming my fear of my parents getting mad at
We all know that staying safe will keep us alive, but it is a boring way to live. The biggest regret a person can have is never trying what they always wanted. As mentioned before, time never stops, so it is crucial that they act now. We fight a battle before we are even born against millions of others to see who will get to the egg first and be fertilized and born. We did not come to this world to just be safe and to be afraid to do new things. We all have a reason to be here and the journey of life is to find our purpose in life. It is what makes life so great, but to get their we must take risks and overcome that fear. People are afraid of taking risks because of failure. They are afraid to fail and not get anywhere. However, that fear can be overcome is they keep pushing and keep trying and keep taking risks. Taking risks will get a person out of their “safe” comfort zones and the result of this can be something so
One of the biggest influences that I had when coming to this decision was my family. When I was younger I never realized how much we struggled financially. I always had new clothes, enough to eat, a roof over my head, etc. It wasn’t
The urban removal of citizens without warning and without compensation is a major problem in Rio and numerous of Brazil’s other cities. Living in close proximity highly valued land and the fact that these communities often lack the organization to defend themselves legally, the evictions target the poorest members of Brazil’s society. Numerous media outlets have covered these stories over the last couple years, with similar scenarios happening throughout.
My mother's’ biggest fear is that I won’t attend college just like she hadn’t. I look back at my mom's life and think what she could have done to graduate and to further her education. Did she think about her life in the future? No, she only thought about her getting out of Worland High school for good. She always tells me, “Monica don’t give up on school. Look at my life, you don’t want to struggle with money and you most definitely don't want to be a single mother like me, without an education. If I could, I would go back and graduate to make our life better, but it is, was it is. If you don’t want the life I have graduate and further your education. Believe in yourself.” I have looked into so many grants i could in order to attend college and it turns out I could get grants for basically anything. I started looking into grants at the age of fourteen, just in case I didn’t have the money to put me through college, and turns out that was the smartest idea I have ever had. I’m not rich, so I have to think about all possibilities, just so I can to accomplish my dream. If I could give anyone any advice, it would have to be to my siblings and to all the people that are thinking about attending
These times can also, be stressful, from making sure that this house is the right one, to making sure that everything is safe inside the house. When you’re buying a house, you want to make sure that it is the right house for you, if you can imagine yourself living in that house for the rest of your life then it must be the right one. Some other things you will need to worry about when you have a house is, if you can afford it. For example, if your dream home is seven hundred fifty thousand dollars, you first must think about if you will be able to pay it off in the time frame of the loan. Now when you are thinking about buying a house, you want to make sure that everything checks out inside the home. First, you will want to see if the pumping and all the pipes are all working properly. Then, you want to move on to the carbon monoxide detectors. You will want to see how many carbon monoxide detectors are there in the house and you will also, want to know if they are all working. After checking the utilities of the home, you will want to step outside to see what kind of area you will be living by. The safety of the neighborhood is an important part of the home itself. Now, after you have looked around the house, you should start thinking about if the house will be safe when you are gone. At this point, you can buy a security system for almost every house, and even some homes
Moving far away from family and friends can be tough on a child at a young age. It has its pros and cons. One learns how to deal with moving away from the people they love and also learn how to deal with adjusting to new ways of life. Everything seems so different and at a young age one feels like they have just left the whole world behind them. That was an experience that changed my life as a person. It taught me how to deal with change and how to adjust. It developed me from a young boy into a mature young man.
The biggest fear I have for my future is financial security. I worry that I will not be able to afford things and pay back my debts. This is my biggest worry because I have never been very financially secure and I am worried that I never will be. This has always been a fear of mine and I hope that one day financial security is something that is not an issue for me.
It is very easy to point out other people’s fears than to see our own fears. Everybody has a magic formula that can help other people with their troubles, and they can even help themselves. We know that we are made to help each other. This is how nature itself works; however, no one can help somehow who is letting his own fears stop him. Fears will always be present in our lives; however, no one should let their fears guide their life. Fears can be an obstacle that blocks someone to achieve his/her dreams. The narrator quote that the majority of people are not living their dreams, but they are living their fears. I remember the author Jack Canfield says that, whenever someone is doing something great, the first thing that person has to challenge
Play the "what if" game with yourself. Whatever you focus on that is negative has a positive side to it. What is that? Focus on that aspect rather than the negative. Maybe you're worried about your finances.
If you ask anyone what home means to them more than likely you’ll get several different opinions. In my case home has never been a specific place it’s always been wherever my mom was! My Mother and I have been moving from place to place ever since I could remember.
My Parents and My brothers did not want me to go away for college. They did not want me to leave home. We are a close family and when people are gone everyone feels it. When I left home I was sad to leave my family but I was also happy to leave my family. I know that I need to grow and change if I
