In Rikki-tikki-tavi there was a major flood where he lived that washed him out of his home. He ended up near a bungalow on the driveway. In the book Teddy’s mother came out and found Rikki on the ground near their house. In the movie Teddy’s father came out and found Rikki and said the same thing his mother said in the book. In both of them they put Rikki by the fire and warmed him up. When Rikki woke up he ran all around the room before settling down and eating part of a banana. But he knew that if he ate the whole thing it would make him really slow and fat. Then he went to bed with Teddy in his room. In the morning he went down to breakfast on Teddy’s shoulder and had a boiled egg. Then he went to explore the garden where he met a tailorbird
In this summary the author Tanya Barrientos is explaining how hard it is be different. In the beginning of the summary Barrientos explained how people automatically assume that she is Latina. She grew up in an English-speaking world. Her parents are born and raised in Guatemala but she moved to the United States at the age of three. When her parents came to the United States of America they stopped speaking English immediately. Her parents wanted her to read, talk, and write only in English. She felt like she was the only one who needed to learn how to speak Latino, even though she looks like she can already. In the summary she went on saying that she was trying to fit in and become a regular person so other Latinas won’t judge her. All she
I cannot get that song of the brave Rikki Tikki Tavi the mongoose out of my head. A mongoose is a furry creature from India who kills cobras or other types of snakes and if its eyes get red, the mongoose is mad. Also the mongoose is a curious creature It is strange how similar the book is in the movie. Some of these similarities are the conflicts, the resolution and the rising action.
In 1776, David McCullough gives a vivid portrayal of the Continental Army from October 1775 through January 1777, with sharp focus on the leadership of America’s greatest hero, George Washington. McCullough’s thesis is that had not the right man (George Washington) been leading the Continental Army in 1776, the American Revolution would have resulted in a vastly different outcome. He supports his argument with a critical analysis of Washington’s leadership during the period from the Siege of Boston, through the disastrous defense of New York City, the desperate yet, well ordered retreat through New Jersey against overwhelming odds, and concludes with the inspiring victories of Trenton and Princeton. By keeping his army intact and persevering through 1776, Washington demonstrated to the British Army that the Continental Army was not simply a gang of rabble, but a viable fighting force. Additionally, Mr. McCullough supports his premise that the key to the survival of the American Revolution was not in the defense of Boston, New York City, or any other vital terrain, but rather the survival of the Continental Army itself. A masterful piece of history, 1776 is not a dry retelling of the Revolutionary War, but a compelling character study of George Washington, as well as his key lieutenants, and his British adversaries, the most powerful Army in the 18th Century world. When I read this book, I went from a casual understanding of the hero George Washington to a more specific understanding of why Washington was quite literally the exact right man at the exact right place and time to enable the birth of the United States.
Many people assume that the book and movie of the same story are always very similar, but they are incorrect. In my comparison of the short story Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the movie of Rikki-tikki-tavi, I found them to be rather different. There were many minor differences, but the three main topics in the short story that clearly differentiate it from the movie are the setting, the character traits, and the use of humor.

Without love there is no loyalty, and without loyalty, there is no bravery. In the book and movie of the story Rikki- Tikki- Tavi, they were neck and neck. Snake against mongoose, though one must surely die, neither will back down just yet. The book, Written By Rudyard Kipling, and the movie, produced by Julie Ross, generally both carry the same plot and main idea: After being washed out of his home, and cared for by a loving family of three, he wants to repay them, and in the process does an unforgettable act of service. Though both the mediums were exciting, there were also numerous similarities and differences between the book, and the movie, such as the banana scene, the scene where the family first found him, and the resolution.

In 1922, a clock company relocated from Chicago to Illinois, amidst allegations that some of the raw materials used during production were the cause of some of their employees’ illnesses. From the big city to the small town of Ottawa the mysterious illnesses followed. Radium Dial, a Westclox brand, opened up a factory in the local high school and employed young women to paint the faces of the clocks with radium. Presently, the dangers of radiation exposure are common place knowledge of the general public, but in the early 1900’s, “radium was considered the new wonder drug” (Langer, 1987). The unsuspecting ladies, many only girls, used their lips to work the paint brush bristles into a fine point to create neat numbers on the clocks: ingesting radium daily. Many of the girls would use some of the remaining radium to decorate
This book has taught me a lot about Alexander Hamilton. Most of it was a surprise to me. This book includes where he was born, how he moved to the United States, what he had done to contribute to the country, and his wife and kids. This book has plenty of insight on one of our greatest leaders.

Rikki Tikki Tavi demonstrates many acts of bravery to show that he is the one true hero in the story. For example, the narrator states that “...Karait had lunged too far, and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi had sprung, jumped on the snake’s back, dropped his head far between his forelegs, bitten as high up as the back as he could get hold, and he rolled away. The bite paralyzed Karait,” (Kipling 133-134). This was an important act because this is when Rikki not only killed the dangerously fast and small snake, Karait, but also saved Teddy’s life. Teddy would have been killed or seriously injured by the snake, but Rikki was brave and went in for the kill, which ended with
