Rick Grimes has been through tragic situations in the dramatic TV series The Walking Dead. Being the leader of a group in a time of hardening, Rick shows his leadership and perseverance in a variety of ways throughout the show. Rick is a protagonist of AMC’s hit drama TV show The Walking Dead. Throughout the show, Rick displays strong leadership qualities that help him and his group survive in difficult times. Based upon a comic book series, The Walking Dead is an American horror TV show. The show is based off of Rick Grimes, a sheriff who awakes from his coma to find out the world has been taken over by zombies or commonly referred to in the show as “walkers”. They work to create a series of actions that help the team gather confidence, speed and power. They have a sense of when to add energy to drive forward and when to let the momentum itself carry things forward efficiently” (Mandeya). Leaders build momentum. After one win, leaders will not stop, because they know that the momentum is on their side. To have the true identity of a leader, you need to win and constantly keep winning. This helps the people you are leading recognize your success and also cause the people you surround yourself with to have a great deal of respect for you as well. In the text, Rick is has many great examples of building momentum. One example comes from the start of season three to the end of season three. In season three of “The Walking Dead”, this was a time for Rick and his group of new plentiful hope and opportunities. They had just taken over the prison that was recently run down by walkers. By taking over the prison, the group now had safe protection from walkers due to the large fence that surrounded the compound. Not only the prison, but the group also had found more supplies including guns, food, and a stable water supply. Rick as a leader did not stop after he had taken over the prison. He put the accomplishment behind him, and moved onto continuously working to make the prison better for his group. Doing this, Rick was able to gain the respect and trust needed for him to take on his true leadership
