Every year since having dogs, and now small children, I cringe at the thought of the Fourth of July. This is not because I am anti-patriotic or not proud of our independence. I am a very proud American and love to celebrate our nations freedom, just not with manners that subject others to fear and anxiety. My dogs always shake and tremble in fear when fireworks are going off in the neighborhood. This is not the only impact in my household, my two small children cry all night scared to death of the loud noises. The fact that we conduct this celebration with methods that instill fear upon others is inconsiderate. Using a public service announcement is how I plan to combat this inconsiderate act of the community. I do not stand alone in this fight, and I know by making others aware of the impact, we can lessen the amount of neighborhood fireworks this year. If …show more content…
The images I have displayed touch the emotions of the community as they review the public service announcement. With fireworks in the background to paint the canvas; first, I am displaying the image of a scared puppy. Anyone that has a pet at home knows the fear and anxiety that is placed upon them. The image will also touch the hearts of many non-pet owners, which may now think twice about their decision to ignite fireworks in their neighborhoods. Next, we will see an image of a soldier holding his face experiencing an episode of anxiety. This image relates to all the military veterans who have experienced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from the noise relationship fireworks has with bombs and gunfire experienced in battle. When the community sees this image, they will experience thoughts of compassion for military veterans who are undergoing these struggles. The community will come together and have a little more respect for the veterans that ultimately gave them the freedom they are
In 2005, the Iraqi war was one of the worst times to be in Iraq for the United States Military. The number of IEDS have increased and become more dangerous as the Iraqi insurgents started to perfect them as the war went on. The majority of the book took place Baghdad Iraq also known as the Triangle of Death. During this time the IED’s, indirect, and direct fire were common and resulted in a high number of casualties and injuries of US soldiers. This placed a lot of stress on the soldier and showed the different types reactions caused by stress. Many images and sites a soldier sees during deployment disturb the soldier and shown differently from each. The toll of the destructive and disturbing scenery would change soldiers’ lives forever. The description a soldiers described when going out on a patrol was that he was always tense. He knew there was going to be an IED but he didn’t know if was going to get him. An example a soldier gave out was if a person who routinely checked the mail box every day, had his routine changed up with an explosive having a one in four chance to be in the mail. The person knows it is there but has to open the mail box. The example describes the anticipation ...

In conclusion, war ruins a multitude of lives; nevertheless, it affects not only the lives of the veterans but everyone who surrounds them. Guilt, shame, and regret fill the empty voids that are left within them. When going to war an individual expects to kill someone, although, the physical act of killing another person takes an emotional toll on a person. Various veterans return suffering from PTSD and without a cure.

Fireworks on the Fourth of July can be horrifying to veterans because it brings back memories of the war. Whether it is genuine PTSD or not, it does not matter because war changes people. Tim O’Brien emphasizes both the positive and negative aspects of the Vietnam War and the different influences it has on the soldiers on the battlefield and back at home in order to help the reader better understand the affects of war.
The statement “Killing 150,000 people in less than a second actually allowed fewer lives to be lost.” might sound horrendous. However, that statement is the reason why the United States was able to win the Second World War. In contrast to this statement, some people might argue that it is inhumane to massacre that many people in less than a second. The dropping of the atomic bombs on August sixth and ninth of 1945 was the correct decision for American in order to effectively and efficiently end World War Two. America should have dropped the bomb because it saved American lives, there was a lack of incentives not to use the bomb, and dropping the bombs was the quickest way to end the war.
When civilians look at the men and women in the military, they think of strength, courage, and freedom. When those same men and women get out, civilians should treat them with respect, honor, and dignity. In their own minds however, it may be a different story. A loss of strength, a lack of courage, and a never-ending battle within that keeps them all but free. In the music video “Wrong Side of Heaven”, FFDP successfully argues that homeless veterans and veterans with PTSD need assistance. Through the use of visual aspects, literary devices, and symbolism, FFDP shows that their music video holds a strong argument.
It is a sad time in American history when one can easily recount recent school shootings in their own area. This ease stems from a sharp increase in the number of firearms brought into elementary and middle schools across the country, with an intense focus on the issue beginning after the shooting of 20 children from Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. Most school shooters are male, white, and often upper middle class. They are also more, often than not, under some type of mental stress that is causing them to create this type of violence in our communities. In fact, many school shooters are never suspected of doing any harm to their peers and teachers until it is much too late.

School shootings date back to the 18th century. However, school shootings are growing more common in this day in age. What motivates these people to want to kill others? Among those still suffering are several veterans who have felt forgotten, unappreciated, and even discriminated against. For some of them the trauma of their battle experiences or their physical disabilities have shattered their lives. For even more, adjustment to civilian life has not been easy.” (Physiological effects6) The war played such a huge part on the American soldiers that many who had been dealing with hard physical or emotional times often looked to certain things for an outlet or happiness to get away from the
There are many different types of school violence. The one that gets the most public attention is school shootings. The term school shooting is basically defined as an act where a student, school staff member, or intruder from the outside commits an act on the school campus. One of the most well known school shootings took place at Columbine High School near Littleton, Colorado. When we think of events like this, we have many questions that go through our mind. Thoughts like why did this happen, could it have been prevented, and how did impact the individuals involved just to name a few. There are probably several more thoughts that go through the minds of a nation when we hear about traumatic evens such as a school shooting.
In the United States there have been 142 school shootings since 2013. There is no one profile to describe a shooter but almost all attackers are students at the school. School shootings occur when anyone enters a campus and begins firing weapons such as a rifle, shotgun
Lois R. Robley remarks that “the horrors of war cannot be imagined by those of us who have not witnessed it. It is perhaps up to the poets, the writers, the movie directors, and the photojournalists to distill and recapture the images that remind us of the traumatic influence of war. Perhaps only then can we extinguish the need to be reminded and ready for war related PTSD.”
William Shakespeare utilized the structure of his plays to create certain affects. In Macbeth, William Shakespeare utilized order of events, dialogue, and iambic pentameter to create tension throughout Acts one and two. Firstly, in Macbeth, Act 1, Scene 3, Shakespeare applies iambic pentameter to convey tension. In this scene Macbeth and Banquo argue over the true meaning of the three witches’ prophesy.
