Introduction
In this assignment I am going to explain the definition of responsive web design, process of graceful/gradual degradation and progressive enhancement when applied to responsive web design. I am also going to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using a process of graceful/gradual degradation compared with the process of progressive enhancement when designing a web site.

Responsive web design is a layout and styling technique that adjusts the layout and viewing skill across devices, from mobile phones to large desktop monitors.
For example, a responsive website may show a mobile device style top menu with a single column design when seen with a smart phone device, but tabs or global navigation buttons and a 2-column design when viewed with a tablet, and a 3-column design when viewed on a laptop or desktop monitor. All three electronic devices can see the same content; the server "responds" to the device with a design optimized for viewing on that specific device.
Responsive designs are gradually common due to the important increase of people using tablets and mobile phones to view websites and do some researching. There are numerous ways to realize responsive web design. One way is to animatedly find the user's platform like an iPad, iPod or an iPhone and load exact HTML and CSS for the matching device. Another way is to use media queries, which repeatedly load special CSS styles varying on the size of the browser window.

Any user that ventures unto a specific website seeks explicit information, and if that user is unable to find said information, that user is more likely to leave the site and find a site more accommodating to his/her needs. It is the function of the navigation menu to aid users in locating what material is being sought. According to Eccher (2015, p.70), usability and maintainability are two important concerns when creating the navigation menus of a website and that the menu is a key element of effective website design (Eccher, 2015, p. 70). Usability as it relates to navigation bars will be discussed below, while maintainability will be addressed not only as it applies to navigating a website, but also as it relates to keeping website current for users to able to navigate the site.
Now is the technology era for in the world, many people live with technologies in their daily life. In general, technology meant knowledge of tools improve a pre-existing solution to a problem. There were so many habits of using technologies, like using computer to do documentation works, using social network to chat with friend in other country, until now using mobile devices to view web sites. Growth in mobile devices and smartphones had eased many people access Web pages. Normally, we use the computer or desktop to open a browser and visit to some websites. The content of websites is same when you use personal computer and desktop to visits it, caused by the size of screen is almost same. To build a more user friendly website that allow user to view the exactly same content of the Web pages regardless of the device’s screen size, a web pages with responsive web design is introduced. Responsive web design is ways to design web pages that work consistently across different screen size, platform, and user interface by using the same codebase (Pilon, 2013). The issues we always focus is the elements, pros, and cons. Hence, this report will discuss about the main components, advantages, and disadvantages of responsive web design.
Cross browser compatible websites are more favorable by both visitors and spiders. The trend of responsive web design also added more interest in web browsing. So, making the website responsive and cross browser compatible enhances the SEO value.
Those who have been sitting on the fence about upgrading to HTTPS now need to hop off the fence and upgrade. As of July 2018 Chrome browser will begin warning all users of an HTTP website the website is an insecure site. This is done with the goal to move the web towards a secure HTTPS web. Web hosts are worried about the effect this could have on their websites if users are concerned about the "insecure site" warning which will pop up in a Chrome users address bar.
Universal Design for Learning, UDL, is a teaching model that guides instruction of flexible learning environments to accommodate all individual learning differences in the general education classroom. UDL creates multiple means of representation, expression, and engagement. This means that students take different avenues to create the same product or end result. Teachers allow options for the students to be flexible and choose the lesson based on the student’s individual needs. A teacher using UDL delivers the content in multiple ways.
A website is made up of many web pages. Each web page can be reached by users through at least a single uniform resource locator (URL) or in some occasions through multiple URLs. A URL is human-readable text that was designed to replace the numbers (IP addresses) that computers use to communicate with servers. URLs are the identities to the web pages of a website.
Kaviani et al [13] propose new user interface concept that take advantage of the input and output capability of large public display and mobile phone. They call this mode of interface as “dual display”, which allows users to execute multimedia user interfaces across both large and small display types. By shifting parts of a user interface down to a personal mobile device number of problems originating from limitations in large display real estate can be solved.
Web design is a operation of imagine, strategy and building a series of electronic files that limitation the layout, colors, structure, graphics, text style, images and use of interactive quality that convey pages to your site visitors. In addition, the web site design is done through the markup language. It contains several languages like HTML and CSS that defines how each page will show in a browser. Therefore, the CSS languages working on a web page coordination like color and background. In addition, navigation between pages are done by link. In the web page does not use images very much because the designer should that it is good for easy to navigate and attractive be in simplicity. It is important to have a good website design. There are three important for the basics of web design. First, design and content should not interfere in the content and design makes it difficult to read. Second, a accessibility, the browsing system must be easy and clear for user and to have links browsing itself and clear in a prominent place. The last one are homogenized design and ease of loading. The site should be homogeneous pages even if the difference in the inside pages. In addition, the user of the internet does not have enough patience to wait for the download site for a long period should make the site opens
Web Design is the process of creating, making, and developing websites. It includes many different features such as webpage layout, webpage content, and also graphic designs. In general web design and web development work together, but the term web design is an actual category of web development. The main way of creating websites is building it from scratch using HTML language; which stands for Hypertext markup language. Web designers build websites using HTML tags that define the content of each page. The layout of the webpage and the appearance of all the elements will be built by using CSS; which stands for Cascading Style sheets. Therefore, all of the websites are being of combination of HTML and CSS files to define of how the page going to appear to the client or user. Many web designers prefer to build a web page starting from scratch by typing HTML and CSS codes, and others they prefer using a software for building and designing these webpages. Some of these soft wares to build and design websites are Dream Weaver which is mostly being used on MAC operating system or WordPress and Joomla which makes it easier for the web designer to design the webpage using the templates that these software already have listed, when the designer choose which template to use the software will automatically build the HTML and CSS files to create that template which also saves time and energy of writing those codes. In the following we going to point out the basics of web designing by using HTML and CSS files and show the steps to create HTML template, heading tags, HTML lists, create paragraphs and break tags, create CSS file, CSS rules, Font sizes, color, style, and adding images, hyperlinks, and CSS layouts.
