Everyone faces challenges. Through these challenges we all need someone to help us overcome them. My song is called “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers. “Lean On Me” talks about friends and why we need them. This song represents my year because it’s all about overcoming challenges, becoming wise, and always being there for others in general. These three things are important traits. In 8th grade, we had to face challenges, but we also had to learn how to overcome them. I’m going to share how the song relates to what we went through. “Sometimes in our lives we all have pain. We all have sorrow. But if we are wise. We know that there's always tomorrow” (Withers). This quote is saying that we have obstacles every once and a while, but if we think positive or problem solve, we can fix them. It relates to our 8th grade year because we all had “pain” and “sorrow” throughout the year, but we learned how to work around it. For example: getting a bad grade on a test. Getting a bad grade itself isn’t overcoming a challenge, but studying hard for the retake is. Another example is hard units in classes. These numerous lessons have taught us to be wiser. Lean on me has a few lines on about becoming wiser. “But if we are wise. We know that there's always tomorrow”(Withers). 8th grade has taught me personally, to be positive, and to not give up, even when things are hard. I think this is wise because never giving up is a wise trait. An example of getting wise this year was service day. Service day taught us to put others before ourselves.
