What is there to say about Bruce Shimkat and Shimkat in general? To start off, Shimkat that is know today was never big. It started off way smaller than it is perceived as today. With having loyal customers is what helped build up their clientele. Shimkat is also a family business, so anyone new that comes into the family is more than likely to work at Shimkat. It might not be a job that they do not want to have for the rest of their lives, but they at least get the experience of working with others and how to treat people. The interviewee Bruce Shimkat is roughly around his late 40’s early 50’s, baldish short gray hair, and average height. Bruce Shimkat also has a great personality after getting to know him for a little awhile. Even though
It shows that just because having money does not mean that he or anybody is different from anyone else in this world. That was something that was really interesting when Interviewing Bruce. When interviewing Bruce Shimkat, he talked about how they have progressed, working with family members and nonfamily members, a stressful part about the job, and interaction with clients. Right off the bat, Bruce talked about how they went from a small little building to where they are at now with a bigger building. Many do not realize that Shimkat was just a small car dealership in the beginning before being established all over the place. Shimkat uses to be over by the new Fareway, which is now called Mediacom. Looking at the pictures to the right shows that they have done well for themselves to get where they are at now. Bruce Shimkat was not always in charge of running
Having such high responsibilities, Bruce wants to make sure that the business gets a good rap for what they do. This is why Bruce takes the time to make sure everything is satisfied to all clients. When clients go somewhere and get mistreated, this affects their behavior whether or not they keep giving business to the dealership. When a client leaves, the dealership is not only losing one car but losing out on multiple because of the way the client was treated. Bruce takes the extra step to make sure that all clients are treated right. Of course, it takes more than one person to make the business what it is. Bruce stated, “Working with family members is fun at times but with being family and all, it’s hard not to get annoyed with them.” He also made the comment that working with family takes a toll on everyone around them. He said,” Being around family all the time makes it hard to hang out with them outside of work. For instance, if Ed Jr.and I would get in a fight, it takes a toll on everyone because they don’t know how to fix the situation to where it can all go back to normal.” This is why a lot of the times people do not see all the Shimkat’s at once in the building because it makes the relationship better between all of them stronger. With working family causes stress, but that is not the only

The second part, “Why It Happened: Eighty-Five Years,” explains the origins of the firm and its founding and operating principles, and it sets the basics for why several deviations from these founding principles eventually led the firm astray.
There are many more examples throughout this movie that can be connected or assessed to the many different concepts that was learned. There are many real-life events and these concepts are important because they allow people to see how different types of people and families deal with stress and problems and it is important not to judge or jump to conclusions and maybe take a step back and take time to consider what others may be going
The movie teaches us to look beyond the cover and into who someone is as a person. We also learn that sometimes contact with people makes us reconsider our judgement towards them, to find out the real person underneath.
the CEO at Home Depot, Robert Nardelli’s tenure was marked with heavy-handedness and inflexibility. Robert Nardelli’s leadership styles was autocratic. He utilized a command, control and conquer approach. He dictated policies and procedures, decided what goals were to be achieved, and directed and controlled all activities without any meaningful participation by the subordinates. He was in full control of the team, leaving low autonomy within the group. Before Nardelli came onboard, the managers of Home Depot had enjoyed independence under the laid-back entrepreneurship leadership style of Bernie Marcus. Almost immediately after Home Depot got Nardelli, he embarked on an aggressive plan to centralize control. He neglected the build relationships, inspired and aligned purpose, and create open communication with his team. He also disregarded the care of his shareholders. He was obsesses with goals, objectivity, and accomplishments within the boundaries of the values of the company. He
He has enough brains to realize he could never spend that amount of money, and obviously realizes that some luxuries are just a waste of money. Money, which can be used to help out the less fortunate. I hope many of these families are affected by his actions in a good way. Many of the poor just don’t know any better, poverty and hardship is all they know. Many have a broken nature, drug abuse, mental and behavioral problems. No matter how many people tell you that you can?t do something for whatever reason, you yourself have the ability to prove them wrong, if you have the will power and the motivation you can get anything you set your mind to.
But on the other hand the movie is telling us that we need to do whatever we want with our knowledge to be happy in life. You do not necessarily need to be making the most money or driving the nicest car, you just need to do whatever is going to make you happy. Will makes the decision to not take the job right away but instead go after his girlfriend in California, because that is what is going to make him the most happy. Society says that you must be pretty smart if you have a Bachelor’s Degree, or a Master’s Degree, but there can be people out there who are smarter than you just because they were not great students in the classroom, but were well educated. This movie really makes you think about the different ways that people can become educated and become a good person in
He was an odd person and secretive husband and father to his family. The only time he interacts with his kids is when he requires help furnishing a closet or when he needs them to do chores. One of the many scenes shows Bruce’s three children sitting in front of a Christmas tree and him being in the background shadow, Alison says, "Sometimes, when things were going well, I think my father actually enjoyed having a family. Or at least, the air of authenticity we leant to his exhibit. A sort of still life with children." (Bechdel 13). Bruce lacks the ideal father look; he is never seen interacting with his kids. He was not pleasant with his life and at times he was violent and aggressive towards his family. As Alison continues to figure out the death of her father, she gets to the center of the maze: his homosexuality. Bruce’s family was an illusion of what society wants to see. Society expects him to be a role model for his children by being ‘the man of the house’ but his image in that particular scene happens to be in a shadow because he feels like he could not run away from the darkness that he is hiding. Bruce could not have the courage to come out as a homosexual; He is too embarrassed and ashamed to show his attractions towards other men. In the reading, The Social Construction of Gender, “Men dominate the positions of authority and leadership in government, the military, and the

Since people are always dealing with certain changes in their lives, they are always dealing with some type of stress. One of the biggest growing issues with stress is stress in the workplace.
