Introduction Pickleball is becoming very popular. It's a fun game that mixes tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Anyone can play and have fun, no matter how old or skilled they are. People use paddles and a plastic ball to play a game on a small court with a short net. You can play alone or with a friend. It's a fun way to keep moving with your friends and family, or meet new people. Tennis and pickleball are similar in some ways, but they are also different. For example, the ball has to bounce on your side of the table once before you can hit it, and you can't hit the ball while standing close to the net. Who made up the game pickleball and when? Pickleball was made in 1965 on an island in Washington by Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum. They wanted to create a game for their children to play with. Three guys invented pickleball using badminton nets, ping pong paddles, and a plastic ball. In 1967, the first basketball court was built in Pritchard's backyard. The first tournament happened in 1976 at South Center Athletic Club in Tukwila, Washington. Why is it called Pickleball? The name Pickleball may have come from two different origins.
