CNC Machinist Young children have imaginative minds and think of inventions that would be amazing to have in the household or at work. The only problem is that many people do not have the means necessary to make or build their design. With certifications in CNC, or computer numerical control, almost any invention can be made. Although CNC machining will be costly and challenging with the certifications and classes required, becoming a CNC machinist will be interesting and worth it. CNC machining is a process using a programmed computer to use high powered tools such as drills, routers, grinders, and lathes. CNC machinists can make, build and fabricate day to day items. In an article from Snagajob, the article reads, “Computer Numerical controlled equipment …show more content…
“CNC machinists program their machines to perform the cuts, and shapes needed”(“Chron”). “CNC machinists work with computer numerical controlled heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic, wood, and other materials”(“snagajob”). To become a CNC machinist or operator, you must go through many classes to become certified to “do the job”. In an article online by Chron, it was stated that “Understanding software and programming language is a requirement for CNC machinists. CNC machinists must also be able to follow job instructions, comprehend specifications, and determine correct machine setup to achieve the correct final product”. Being able to read blueprints is a must to be a CNC machinist. “High school courses in computer science, algebra, geometry and english provide the basics needed to become a CNC machinist”(“encyclopedia of careers and vocational guidance”). “Highschool graduates may be eligible for entry level CNC machinist positions that provide on-the-job training”(“Chron”).
To begin with, Study.com tells that the lowest level of education required is a high school diploma or equivalent. Many employers may require an employer- based welding test. Some employers look for a certificate or undergraduate degree from a technical school (Study.com). Next, it is important to note where training is available. WATC.edu states, that they offer a welding program. WATC is located in Wichita Kansas. Their welding program allows students to gain knowledge and skills in cutting, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and provides some exposure to oxy-acetylene cutting and welding (WATC.edu). In addition, the length and cost of the training is an important consideration. WATC.edu shares, that there are 5 different degree and certificate options. The one I would be interested in is the Welding Technical Certificate option. This one would be a total of 46 credit hours and would cost a total of $10,524. Finally, this job requires certain traits, talents and interests. The Occupational Handbook adds, that welders often must work in awkward positions using tools, so they need to be able to put up with that. A lot of times, overtime will be present. So you would have to be available for overtime if needed. Welders are required to lift heavy objects sometimes. So a welder should be fairly strong (The OCO). I think that being a welder would be hard work. I feel that I would be able to work hard enough to be a welder. I now know what traits a person should have, in order to be a welder. In summary, there are educational and personal qualifications to consider if I want to become a
A solid foundation and understanding of welding and principles is beneficial but is not needed as on the job training is common. A high school diploma with experience is usually all that is required to get a job as a welder along with being able to pass a welding qualification test. However experience and technical/welding school instruction is a major advantage when it comes to employment. Sometimes an employer will pay for the cost of training and or certifications. Taking courses in shop mathematics, metallurgy, blueprint reading and mechanical drawing offer a welder a better understanding of the principles applied when welding and a more rounded skill set. Robotic welding and computer controlled welding machines are growing so it helps to have knowledge on programming these as this would open a huge path for any person looking into welding as a
I started out wanting to go into the Air Force and be a pilot when I was younger. I stayed with that plan until I started welding in high school. I found out shortly that I was very good at it and became very successful in a short amount of time. I became passionate about it, spending countless hours in the shop. I have since went off to college and received my welding degree and machining certificate. After my first year of college I decided that I should suffer through another year and get my machining degree. I have known that I love building things and being able to use my head and had to create something. Both my welding and machining can be used to create very complex parts requiring a lot of thinking and this is why I have choose to open a job shop.
Fabrication at the factory utilizes a mix of robotics and manual labor to produce the body of the V-Rod. Robots that are designed to cut pipe are capable of completing a single operation within 3 seconds. Other fabrication robots utilize 1800 watt lasers that can perform cutting operations at the rate of 100 inches per minute. Where robotics can be used to perform high speed cutting and welding operations, skilled workers are a...
Blacksmith is a person who makes and repairs things in iron by hand. According to the website “History of blacksmith” Blacksmiths gained skills during the Iron Age which is the common use of Iron. During this time someone discovered this material and knew that it could be used to make utilities and weapons such as knives and arrowheads. One procedure they had to produce iron was melting it on a container made out of clay called bloomery, it could be made into any shape by hammering it to the wanted figure. Another method was the cast iron which was
By Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) definition any operator of electric or gas welding and cutting equipment is called a "welder" and "welding operator". The standard 29 CFR 1910 Subpart Q which pertains to welding, cutting, and brazing. The standard consists of 5 parts, they include: 1910.251 Definitions, 1910.252 General requirements, 1910.253 Oxygen-fuel gas welding and cutting, 1910.254 Arc welding and cutting, 1910.255 Resistance welding. It is a rather diverse standard covering all aspects of industrial and commercial applications specializing in safety aspects, guidelines, and requirements as well as proper use and operating procedures.
Anybody and everybody can become an industrial machinery mechanic; especially, those who are passionate about getting their hands plastered in motor oil, grease, and other mechanical lubricants. These people will more than likely be ecstatic about getting into industrial machinery mechanics. They need to be able to put in one hundred ten percent of their effort into becoming an industrial machinery mechanic. An industrial machinery mechanic’s overall objective on the job is to stop a mechanical error before it happens. An industrial machinery mechanics are often caught repairing, maintaining, and fabricating machinery. They will be required to have certain education and training as well as some on the job training or complete an apprenticeship program. They will receive many benefits for working in this particular field.
One of the memories of my childhood I deeply cherish is that of my first visit to my father's small scale factory.Exploring the machinery which made my goal more easier and my dad sharing his experiences about the working of machines made me to grew up grossing my interest towards them. That was the time i chose to get into the field of mechanical. As a child, I was always intrigued by the working of complex mechanisms and equipment. I used to spend a lot of time trying to explore and figure out their principle. In school
The first industrial robot, built in 1961, was a mechanical arm used to load presses. After the development of the computer and the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) in the 1970?s, the world saw great advances in the development of robotic control and the quality of robot manufacturing. As a result, there has been acceptance of the industrial robot world wide, improving the productivity and quality standards of industry (Hodges 3-5).
In sum, for the reasons described above, the cleanliness of their environment of CNC machine tools is extremely important. Regions of the bench axis motion must be clean and enough fat. If necessary, cleaning should be done on and off the simple reason that otherwise the counter with long downtime is inevitable.
According to dictionary.com,” Mechanical Engineering is the branch of engineering dealing with the design, construction, and use of machines.” Their job is to take an idea and actually make it happen. Doing this takes a lot of knowledge and skills. They first start off with an idea that they have. Then they try to make a small module of it. They do this so they know what the product will work without spending a lot of money on it. They have to find the right materials to do this. The materials have to be able to withstand a lot of things nature has to throw at it. Like rain, dust, lightening, and many more things. After they have to make sure the produce is safe. When all of this is done they build the real thing.
Pimples, crowded hallways, schoolboy/girl crushes. The awkward obstacles of teenage years are challenging to everyone. No one escapes the journey of adolescence completely unscathed. Even though all young adult struggles are not identical, they are there nonetheless, and for some, the situations faced can be crippling. For those select individuals whose circumstances are more severe than merely tripping in the school hallway, the motivation to succeed but as well as to simply continue is a fleeting feeling. The young adults who experience intense hardships in their life are teens who are much more prone to damaging choices due to their difficult lifestyles. The term used most often to describe the struggling young adults amongst society is
When designing products, they may start to just sketch out the idea and then after a couple of sketches, he or she will start to use a Computer-Aided drafting program. After a product has been built, they will preform a quality assurance check on the product. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015) says, “Employment of mechanical engineers is projected to grow 5 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Mechanical engineers can work in many industries and on many types of projects”. As technology advances so will the number of engineering jobs in the workplace. If you have a mechanical engineering degree you are able to work in many environments from the rail industry to the aerospace
One career in the technological industry is a computer engineer. A computer engineer is a person who designs hardware or software for computers. Computer engineers do research to determine what people want and need to make their lives easier. Computer engineers sometimes work on a team to think of new ideas and concepts. Engineers generally should like activities of a technical nature, problem solving, and math. An engineer should probably like working with numbers and thinking logically.
But I did have an interest in materials. However, mechanical engineering is a very broad field. Mechanical engineering has an area of specialization referred to as “Materials and Manufacturing” [4] It doesn’t focus so heavily on material development and design so much as material selection and the methods of manufacturing parts using those materials. For example, “How do you mass produce carbon fiber parts?” would be a problem that a mechanical engineer of this specialization might set out to solve. At this point I had also had some exposure to electrical engineering, through a Snap Electronics kit and obtaining my Amateur Radio License. Mechanical engineers do take some electrical engineering classes. This gives mechanical engineers an understanding of electrical control systems and electric motors [5], both of which play important roles in machinery
