Report on Mobile Phone Business
Terms of reference:
In this report I will examine the business of Mr Khan's mobile phone
shop and advise him on which legal form he should take; either setup a
sole trader or go into partnership. I will study all the advantages
and disadvantages of sole trader and a partnership business.
Finding:
Advantages of a sole trader
Disadvantages of a sole trader
Easy to setup and to run- not many forms to be filled in.
Unlimited liability- If the business is bad then it is possible for
the owner to lose everything they own.
All profits go to the owner- he/she themselves.
Lack of continuity- The business could be sold by the owner or it
could be passed onto their children or all of its assets could be sold
off.
He/she are their own boss- has complete control over what happens and
what doesn't.
Illness- If the sole trader was to fall ill then the business could be
forced to shut and the income and profits would stop.
There are tax advantages such as, national insurance contributions;
this saves a sole trader hundreds of pound on profits, and this saves
them setting up a limited company and having to become an employee of
a company.
Long Hours- The sole trader has to work long hours to keep the
business afloat.
Labour relations- when and if a sole trader employs workers the
relation between them is likely to be good because the business is so
small and the owner has to be able to trust the employers.
Difficulty of raising capital- Many sole traders do not have a capital
to start off a business therefore a sole trader could borrow
capital/money from the Banks/Building Society, which means they have
to pay interest on the capital borrowed.
Flexibility-Sole Traders can decide when they want to open and close
the shop.
Limited specialisation- The sole trader only has a certain amount of
areas they can specialise in therefore they can not gain the advantage
The following information is taken from a survey that I conducted in which I examined fifty college students, half of them male and half of them female. The topic that I studied was how much students use and rely on their cellular phones. I chose to analyze this topic mainly because cell phones are constantly growing in the number of users and has become a prime mode of communication for college students. I am hoping to find out how much cell phones are used according to their prices and monthly plans. I would also like to see how much cell phones are being used now in comparison to a home telephone. As cell phones become more and more popular, it is almost odd to see a college student without their trusty cell phone by their side.
This first handheld cell phone weighed 2.4 pounds and was 9 x 5 x 1.75 inches in size. For reference, the iPhone 6 is 5.44 x 2.64 x 0.27 inches and weighs just 129 grams (0.28 pounds). The first handheld cell phone also had only 20 minutes of battery life when talking. Once the phone battery was drained, it took approximately 10 hours to charge back up fully. As phones change, society changes along with it because people rely on their phones for everything. As phones develop people develop with them. And People have evolved to have everything they need right in their pockets.
In a world that is rapidly becoming faster paced, finding various means to keep up with the changing environment is a must. Cell phones are one of the most practical inventions of time that make this possible. However, the subtle effect they have on our culture today, their invasion of our privacy, and the possible health risks they may cause are reasons to reassess the value of this intriguing device. While cell phones may be valuable, they are also potentially harmful.
Cell phone technology has been around for over twenty years. It has only been the last ten years where it has integrated completely into our lives and changed how we communicate with each other. Entire social rules of interaction were completely changed. Now you could be reached at anytime. It seemed like having a cell phone guaranteed some level of privacy from others around you. But what about your own privacy? With the technology revolution that has been taking place there seems to be no focus on personal relationships. The entire English language has been chopped up and shortened into meaningless letters and phrases It has caused loss of human interaction and expression in our modern daily lifestyles.
Cell phones otherwise known as smart phones by today’s standards are an immense help to most Americans in many way. We use our cell phones daily for communication with friends and family through texting and phone calls, scheduling appointment, or social media. However the convenience of smart phones is being abused daily in several ways that can lead to severe impacts with the distractions they pose.
The biggest boom in the millennium had to be the internet. Since the start, there has been countless number of companies and products have been developed with the use of the internet in every way imaginable. The Blackberry was the pioneer of Smart phones that allowed users to access the internet wherever they were located. They could access applications that were useful in maintaining everyday activities such as E-Mail and Face book.
There are many different types of business structures, but if you own and operate a business that it is a sole
This paper will analyse Blackberry’s current strategy and the challenges facing the company and will conclude with a recommended guideline for a new Strategy. The approach will follow the path highlighted on the Strategic Management Process depicted below (Adopted from http://www.planning-strategy.com/):
Ring ring! All the people in a 20-foot-radius are thinking it is them that are
Cell phone manufacturers and service providers are at the core of the cell phone industry. These corporations are integral from their research and development endeavors to interactions with the consumer and the marketing of new products. The companies that control such factors of cellular phones are very numerous, so it is difficult to address all the cell phone manufacturers and service providers. However, we have focused largely on only the most significant cellular companies namely in the U.S. marketplace, although many have global ties. Collectively, companies around the world have the same goals in mind – to create desirable cutting-edge technology and to increase consumer satisfaction with hopes of generating sales, and thus profits.
An additional advantage is that a sole proprietorship can be easily organized. It’s easy to start your own business. First of all, it costs very little money to start your own business. As a sole proprietor, you have minimal legal requirements. The owner doesn’t have to establish a separate legal entity.

The definition of a cell phone is a portable telephone that uses wireless cellular energy to send or receive messages or voice calls. The first people who were able to correctly demonstrate the usage of the first cell phone were two men by the names of John F. Mitchell and Martin Cooper. It had been named “The Jitterbug” . It looked like a big house phone. It also weighed about 2.3 pounds (or 1 kg) Only thing was, it had finally been able to be used in a different place than home. In the year 1983, the next cell phone that had become available was the DynaTac 8000x. It also looked like a big house phone, but that was the first phone to be publicly released.
My mobile phone network coverage allows me to make a call wherever I want, and the call is never cut off by the network. Independent surveys show that it has the best signal quality with excellent call clarity. The network covers 99 percent of the population, and it has installed more transmitters than any other digital network company. They guarantee that they work the best; in fact, they will even add a free minute of talk time if the call is ever lost. International and off-peak calls are the cheapest in the area. The company has been voted number 1 in customer satisfaction for 5 years in a row.
Cell phones are wonderment 's of technological advances over time. Though when do Cell phones become a tool that could be used to cause suffering, like in this case getting me in trouble. None the less, the time I was used my phone the wrong way not only got me in to trouble, but made me realize that I should think before I do.
