The reason for this memorandum is to kindly request you to approve the project that I have started so that I may proceed. A relational database is paramount to the company since it will help in solving some of the problem facing the company and aid in improving the business. A relation database is a compilation of items arranged as a collection of formally-described tables organized in a manner that data can be reassembled into different ways or accessed without distorting the rest of the data. In this memorandum, I intend to describe to you the manner in which information will be captured, manipulated, managed, and shared. In addition to this I intend to show you the value of the database to the organization and further provide proof of …show more content…
Considering the fact that most of the companies computers are personal computers it is only proper then that a relation database is implemented to ensure that the most sensitive and critical data is managed. A database management system will be used in capturing and analyzing data, the system is designed in such a manner that it is able to interact with information user. The captured data will be fitted into categories that are predefined. The tables containing the data will be composed of columns and rows, the columns will contain data category while as the row will contain a unique description about the data in the column (Alagić, …show more content…
Database management system is a group of programs, which enables a user to modify, extract, and store information/data from a database. The system is designed in such a manner that user can be able to access the information they need. The company will uses a soft ware known as database management system, which will be responsible for controlling the data storage, data organization, and data retrieval. In addition, a DBMS will help in reducing data redundancy and inconsistence of the data, and provide the necessary security required to protect the data from being accessed by unauthorized person (Harrington, 2002). Additionally DBMS has a recovery mechanism thus data deleted by mistakes or lost will easily be recovered. Thus, it is efficient for storing and retrieving data from even the secondary storage such as disk thus playing a crucial role in data
According to the given task, it is expected to create the database for the management of the company. Such organization as dentist clinic has chosen for development. In order to collect information, many sources with such kinds of clinics were investigated and used for this purpose. The main ones are http://www.medtorgrf.ru and http://www.mosdental.ru, in which necessary medicines, instruments and main procedures were revealed for the implementation of dental activity. Besides, it is necessary to identify the types of systems to which the designed database belongs. As a result of the research, the transaction processing system (TPS) is the most suitable for the implemented functions of the data bank for the following reasons. The first is the relation of this system to the operational level. Laudon and Laudon (2006) indicate that the systems of this level allows helping the managers to monitor the activity of the company and business operations associated with earnings, sales, paysheet and material flows in the plant while other systems of such levels as management and strategic focus on controlling, reporting and prognosis of sales for future, considering environmental factors. The second reason is the operation’s principle of TPS is similar to the developed database. Chaffey et al., (2003) confirm that the system saves the day-to-day bargains during the conducting of the business, and pay for products and services is provided as an example of such a system. The last reason is the necessity of TPS for manages to track the condition of inner operations and interaction of the company with exterior environment. Authors add that the TPS is “the major producer of information for the other types of systems” (p. 44).
problem and it will be used in this case to build the databases. The databases
According to research, the people accountable for managing an organization’s database are called database administrators. The importance of a database administrator in a society should not be overlooked or treated with levity because they are fully in charge of data’s and information. Some of the examples of popular database management systems are My SQL, Oracle, etc. One of the major roles of a database administrator is to ensure database security. He or she is in charge of fixing security issues and complications that could
The information can be made into categories which can be outputted to make choices for the future of the company. Information will be kept in the database and the database will contain tools to help process the information in multiple ways.
Since the success of our jobs and National Security rely heavily on the maintenance and tracking of personnel security clearance information, information security information and industrial security information, what better way of achieve our goals then to develop a relational database which can track and monitor the progress of these three area disciplines. Microsoft Access is a relational database allowing for the quick analysis and retrieval of vital security information. Capron (2000) defines a relational database as, “A relational database organizes data in a table format consisting of related rows and columns” (p.404). Since all of the computers used in our security division are personal computers, it only seems logical to implement a relational database in order to manage our critical and sensitive security data. Nickerson (2001) supports the need for a relational database to effectively manage data on a personal computer by stating, “Almost all common personal computer database programs use the relational approach” (p.80). There are many benefits in using Microsoft Access. We will discuss some of them in this analysis.
The database application design can be improved in a number of ways as described below:
One of the animals I chosen from Life of Pi was Richard Parker the tigers. Richard Parker is is a Bengal tiger that is stranded on the lifeboat with Pi when the ship sinks. The reason why I am mostly like Richard Parker because In the story of Pi I feel connection about Richard Parker like we been put worse situation but at different time, I related to Richard by not how he killed the other animals but how he been good friends in the story and how he is very protected toward Pi kindly remind me of someone like myself, I been put into many crazy situation than I still questions how I got that situation.
Databases are becoming as common in the workplace as the stapler. Businesses use databases to keep track of payroll, vacations, inventory, and a multitude of other taske of which are to vast to mention here. Basically businesses use databases anytime a large amount of data must be stored in such a manor that it can easily be searched, categorized and recalled in different means that can be easily read and understood by the end user. Databases are used extensively where I work. In fact, since Hyperion Solutions is a database and financial intelligence software developing company we produce one. To keep the material within scope I shall narrow the use of databases down to what we use just in the Orlando office of Hyperion Solutions alone.
Inconsistently storing organization data creates a lot of issues, a poor database design can cause security, integrity and normalization related issues. Majority of these issues are due to redundancy and weak data integrity and irregular storage, it is an ongoing challenge for every organization and it is important for organization and DBA to build logical, conceptual and efficient design for database. In today’s complex database systems Normalization, Data Integrity and security plays a key role. Normalization as design approach helps to minimize data redundancy and optimizes data structure by systematically and properly placing data in to appropriate groupings, a successful normalize designed follows “First Normalization Flow”, “Second Normalization Flow” and “Third Normalization flow”. Data integrity helps to increase accuracy and consistency of data over its entire life cycle, it also help keep track of database objects and ensure that each object is created, formatted and maintained properly. It is critical aspect of database design which involves “Database Structure Integrity” and “Semantic data Integrity”. Database Security is another high priority and critical issue for every organization, data breaches continue to dominate business and IT, building a secure system is as much important like Normalization and Data Integrity. Secure system helps to protect data from unauthorized users, data masking and data encryption are preferred technology used by DBA to protect data.
It simplifies the storage and processing of large amounts of data, eases the deployment and operation of large-scale global products and services, and automates much of the administration of large-scale clusters of computers.
A database management system, or DBMS, gives the user access to their data and helps them transform the data into information. Such database management systems include dBase, Paradox, IMS, and Oracle. These systems allow users to create, update, and extract information from their databases. Compared to a manual filing system, the biggest advantages to a computerized database system are speed, accuracy, and accessibility.
Network databases share several problems with the hierarchical database management system. Both are the very inflexible, and also set relationships and record the structures that must be predefined. The major disadvantage of both network and hierarchical database management systems was that they are the programmer’s domains. To answer the simplest query of this database, one had to create the program that navigated the database management structure and produce an output; unlike SQL, this program was written in the procedural, and required the great deal of the knowledge of both database management structure and underlying the operating system. As a result, these type of programs were not portable and took enormous amount of time to write.
The Database Management System (DBMS) is software that enables the users to define, create, maintain and control the access to the database. It is a software that interact with the user’s applications programs and it database. Meanwhile, information retrieval system is a system that involved the activity that the systems obtain the information. The obtaining information action need the information from it resources.
A database management system in the main software tool of the database management approach because it controls the creation, maintenance, and use of the database of an organization and its users. The three major functions of a database management system are first to create new database and database application. Second to maintain the quality of the data in an organized database. And last to use the database of an organization to provide the information that its end users need. An example of a database management approach in a banking information system. Note how the savings, checking and installment loan programs use a database management system to share a customer database. Note also that the database management system allows a user to make direct, ad hoc interrogations of the database without using application programs.
In our world, people rely heavily on the power of technology every day. Kids are learning how to operate an iPad before they can even say their first word. School assignments have become virtual, making it possible to do anywhere in the world. We can receive information from across the world in less than a second with the touch of a button. Technology is a big part of our lives, and without it life just becomes a lot harder. Just like our phones have such an importance to us in our daily lives, database management systems are the same for businesses. Without this important software, it would be almost impossible for companies to complete simple daily tasks with such ease.
