I have developed a personal standpoint a personal standpoint to demonstrate that I can identify, consider and form a personal opinion on a global issue.
The topic that I have been studying is Refugee’s and Migration. According to the Oxford Dictionary, a refugee is “A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster”. In order to keep their families and themselves a refugee migrates to a different country which. This issue is more of a global problem than it is local. I think that there needs to be more awareness on the problems that refugee’s face from day to day so that if a refugee gets sent to the UK then the government can give more help to support them.

From this website I can see that the UK in 2015 had 117.234 refugees living here. This website also shows different questions and answers which helps us to understand what the refugee crisis is all about. Further on in this website, The UNCHR (The United Nations Refugee Action) have said that presently there are 3.6 million Syrian refugees that have moved to the UK through the UNCHR scheme. According to the government website “GP and nurse consultations in primary care and treatment provided by a GP are free of charge to all, whether registering as an NHS patient, or as a temporary patient, when the patient is in the area for more than 24 hours and less than 3 months.” It is costing the NHS an extra £1 billion on top of an £900 million bill of tax payers money to treat the ill immigrants. “Tax-payers of the UK are likely to have an ever-increasing burden”. In other areas, this could cause more of an impact with government funded schemes such as education. Migrant children wishing to join a UK school could have many different issues including the language barrier. This would mean for every migrant child; a translator may have to be employed which means that it could have an impact on the governments funding. Also, if a refugee was to try and find a job then it could cause issues for people who have been a UK resident since birth when trying to find a job and potentially preventing them from finding one.
