According to the UNRA over 65 million people are displaced in the world. Right now 54 percent of the refugees worldwide come from three main countries. These three countries are Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq not too far behind. By itself Syra contains 5 million refugees. These refugees are given rights: A refugee has the right to safe asylum. However, international protection comprises more than physical safety. Refugees should receive at least the same rights and basic help as any other foreigner who is a legal resident, including freedom of thought, of movement, and freedom from torture and degrading treatment. These rights are often not followed in Refugee camps which is a temporary settlement built to receive refugees and people in refugee-like situations.
Refugees become a global issue because they have nowhere to go except another country. They travel to neighboring countries with refugee camps. Syria's 5 million refugees are hosted in only five countries: Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt. Turkey hosts about 2.7 million of the refugees. Developing countries host around 80% of the refugees in the world. According to Salon.com “The five countries that have taken the most refugees are all developing nations. Together, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Pakistan and the Occupied Palestinian Territories host a staggering 50 percent of the world’s refugees, even though they make up less than 1.5 percent of the world’s economy. The tiny nations of Jordan and Lebanon have taken by far the most, with one refugee for every roughly three or four people in their countries.” These countries can’t host all the Refugees which is why they need help from other countries.
