Impressions of the use of the Reflecting Team I believe the purpose of the Team serve more of a collaborative effort to view all the different elements that might have been identified in the session or what was missed in the session that had not been brought out or discovered. I believe that the reflected team was effective because each individual on the team has conceptualize the session from many different shared perspective based on their individual concepts. The individual concepts are explored and collaborated, creating a wide angle lens of the session pointing out different elements about the client. An example that would support my perceptions would probably the first gentlemen on the reflecting team, he stated “yeah I had thought into relation in terms of being familiar with trying to do things all by herself. Sir, I am honored by the privilege to once again serve in 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT). Over of the last 30 days, I had an opportunity to reconnect, and reflect on the current state of the Brigade. The 4th ABCT has a rich history of success and glory. It is my goal to put in place the systems and practices for this great organization to exceed all past and present accomplishments. As a result of my assessment, I identified three areas of focus that will improve our organization: a unit vision, a change in organizational culture and climate, and building organizational teams. I have no doubt that with the implementation of these three areas of focus, I will be the transformational leader that 4th ABCT needs as we prepare for the upcoming National Training Center (NTC) rotation and tackle the task of the Regionally Aligned Forces (RAF) mission.
This is a reflective essay based on my attendance at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting whilst on my two-week placement at a local mental health day hospital. It is another extremely hectic Monday in the Emergency Department. The waiting room is building up fast with many new walk-in patients. Fire Rescue trucks are calling one after the next with several medical and trauma cases. The hospital supervisor is calling to inform the Charge Nurse of the Emergency Department that the Operating Room has several cases that need beds and will supersede the Emergency Department admits. Patient through put will now be further delayed. Seven tasks must be included in consideration of team dynamics and structure. The first of which is defining the goal, mission or function of a specific team. The team must know what it is being asked to accomplish. The second area of consideration is assessing what skills, abilities, knowledge or potential to acquire such would be needed amongst selected team members. Identification of potential team members should include an assessment of the skills, knowledge and abilities or the potential to acquire such so that ultimately the team has the building blocks with which to succeed in its mission, goal or function. This assessment must include an understanding of realistic potential contributions by potential team members with the included assessment of whether or not the acquisition of skills and knowledge can be made available through research and analysis.

From the beginning, where we were unfamiliar with each other and became a team, my team and I had started to learn each other name and getting to know each other. Throughout each meeting, we slowly start to feel more comfortable and open minded with each other. Not only are we getting familiar with each other, each meeting that was held we progress of becoming an effective team member, we learn our strengths and weaknesses of everyone. Working in teams provides an opportunity for individuals to come together and establish a rapport towards others within a group. Teamwork is classified as people with different strengths and skills who work together to achieve a common goal. When a team works well, specific objectives are fulfilled and satisfied. Teamwork plays a crucial role in implementing and fulfilling a common goal in a team project. Each member plays a role and takes on different responsibilities combined together. In different stages of teamwork, conflicts and arguments may occur for as members have different standpoints which need to be harmonized within the team. The key to having an effective teamwork is to explore each member's unique abilities to motivate them.
In order for teamwork to be successful in the workplace it involves building a relationship and working with other people. A team is defined as a small number of people with complementary skills, who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable (Katzenbach et at., 2003). Spatz (2000) and Katzenbach et al. (2003) added elements such as complementary skills, commitment, common purpose and goals, common approach or strategy and mutual accountability are the important elements for a real team. Hackman (1990) had the comparable definition where team, which form by two or more individuals with different set of skill to work adaptively to achieve a common purpose and goal.
A team leader has a variety of traits and characteristics that encourages the team members to follow him or her. Team leaders naturally possess certain qualities and skills such as consideration and integrity which encourages trust and respect among the team members. Natural team leaders hence people that are born to be leaders, possesses exceptional organizational skills such as planning the objectives and strategies to perform accordingly to allow team members to perform accordingly to the leader’s plan to avoid any problem. Team leaders have the ability to maintain order and guide the team members towards achieving the company goals and objectives.
Throughout this group project, I had an opportunity to observe and reflect how my personality traits contributed to and hindered the success of the team. According to the Big Five Model, I identify myself as low on extroversion, moderate on neuroticism as well as openness and high on agreeableness and conscientiousness.
