Deciving a Three Year Old We have always heard of thinking outside of the box, but we should be paying more attention to acting outside the box. Being outside the box means to act on promptings that you are given to do something positive and when interacting with people treat them as people, and not objects. Acting inside of the box means to ignore promptings to do something positive for others and when interacting with others you treat them as objects and this tends to strain relationships because you do not see their needs and wants. Being in the box causes somebody to not clearly see that they are the problem, they think that everyone and everything other than them is the problem. Constantly being out of the box in all aspects of life is a continually struggle in life, but is important to have positive outcomes in conflicts and to develop lasting relationships. I grabbed his book from the shelf, I put him in his covers and I started to read him his book. I was about four pages into the twenty page book and I realized that reading this book was going to take more time than I wanted it to. I thought how easy it would be to just skip a couple of pages, and finish the book faster. And I figured at the age of three he could not tell the difference between skipping the pages and reading the entire book, he just knows when the book is done. Then I had an urge to completely read the book because my brother deserved it. Unfortunately, I disregarded the second prompting and skipped about ten pages in the book. I thought that at the age of three he was not smart enough to tell I skipped the pages, and I was justified to skip them because he would not notice.
