These last few months of class have been tough for me, although we only had five triggers assigned for portfolio two, I felt the pressure of finals slowly approaching as I was preparing everything necessary to finish my first semester at Farmington. I am thankful in being a part of this class because it played a huge role in helping to prepare me for the end of the semester especially after finishing the article analysis assignment. The class has been a challenge, but has also been one of my most valuable class due to that level of challenge. Because of this class I’ve learned how to work under stress in order to complete assignments even when it seems impossible to complete piles upon piles of essays, readings, and question responses.

the article analysis was only one assignment out of the many others we were handed out, it showed me how to properly analyze a historical article through annotation, the footnotes provided in the article, and the methods the author utilizes in their writings. I’ve always heavily annotated my work with highlighting and summarizing each paragraph, focusing more on the content of the readings rather than the technical aspects. Up until the article analysis I’ve never really put much thought to the citations or the writing methods the author uses. I know that seems rather ignorant, but I suppose that sometimes the best way to learn is through our mistakes. Furthermore, I’ve found that my ability to work under pressure has enhanced.
In high school I regret never being able to experience the pressure of finals, although I highly doubt that they would be anything similar to a college final, I was exempt from every having to participate in them due to my grades and attendance in the courses I was enrolled in. Just as I find this class my most valuable, the AP and dual enrollment classes with Thomas College were what prepared me for my future college career. I always found myself panicking as I attempted vainly to gather all my assignments together whether it was for a simple homework assignment, or an important test. I always stressed about the encroaching due dates even though for the most part that stress was unnecessary, through this class I learned that stress isn’t always a negative emotion, but rather something that can be used to thrive off of at certain times. Knowing when not to stress, and when to stress has become an extremely helpful skill I’ve applied to my work ethic to carry me through to finals this semester.
I believe my conclusion has remained the same from the last time I wrote a reflection for portfolio one, I’ve acquired valuable knowledge of prehistory all the way up to the late 1300s and the end of the Black Plague. This class has allowed me to develop current skills and learn new ones in order to become a better more knowledgeable student. Furthermore, this class has encouraged and inspired me to put extra
consideration in becoming a history major, and I am very excited for my future here at UMF.
My analysis over the development of my writing throughout this semester. I will assess many aspects of my experiences with English 1301 up to this point in the semester. I will explain the ways by which I have blossomed as a writer during this time. I will provide brief examples of my work to show what I am basing the evaluation of my writing on. What my conceptions of writing were, at the start of, the semester and compare it to what they are now. I will clarify how my work this semester reflects the concepts of writing and reading we have been working on and studying in class. I will tell about what and how particular reading assignments have been influential in my growth of creative ideas. Lastly, my interpretation of what it means to be a writer, and how my experiences this semester has influenced my opinion on writing.
I am always a little nervous and hesitant when I begin writing an essay. Ever since I was little I was an honor roll student, passed all my tests, was placed in honors and AP classes, and eventually graduated a year early from high school. I used to be so confident when I would begin writing a paper, I could finish it within a couple minutes. During junior year of high school, I began taking duel credit classes. I was passing all the classes so far until I reached English 111. It was an 8-week course and I started to get overwhelmed. All throughout the course I was having a little bit of trouble on the essays. I would still receive a passing grade, but it wasn’t an A. I began becoming a little discouraged and didn’t understand what was going
Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. During this summer semester, I was able to grow as a writer, and gain a more positive attitude toward how I write and a better feel for writing in college. Writing a paper is a process in which there are many different stages. In high school I would never write outlines or any sort of pre planning work. Other struggles I encountered in my writing were my theses, and framing quotes.
Up until this year, before taking the class intermediate composition, I thought I was a terrible writer. I was right. Writing isn’t something that I enjoy doing, nor am I good at. Writing is difficult for me because I’m not very good at explaining things in a professional manner, that can be easily well written. While writing you are expected to make little to no mistakes, which is not something I’m great at. I am so much better at explaining things with verbal words rather than written words. I had not taken any extra writing classes before this year rather than the mandatory ones. Like I had stated before, I hate writing, with a passion. I dread writing anything, especially an essay for school, like this one. I’m
Initial Reflective Essay When I first thought of what I wanted to do with my life after college, the first thing I thought of was helping people. The next step in deciding what I wanted to do with my life was to examine how I could accomplish this goal. I started pondering and I was thinking about how much I love to take care of my body. Health care and personal hygiene has always been an important factor in my life. So I decided to major in Health Sciences.
College students, especially freshmen, experiencing stress is normal, but it a concern that should not be taken lightly. It is easy for situations to spiral out of control, or for freshmen to feel like they cannot complete the next four years if things stay the same. It is important for students to keep in my mind that it is never too late to try one of these coping skills, and it is never too late to ask for

The first four weeks of CR510 have prompted this student to reflect on her years of teaching in the public school setting. Having experienced many similar complexities to the ones in the text, this student is sympathetic to the challenges facing those in the education system and is eager to find opportunities to offer a better solution for all involved. CR510 has strengthened this student's belief that a third party neutral can provide valuable benefits to educational systems at all levels.
Considering we are in the mist of the all consuming monster that is finals week I find it somewhat appropriate to write about the chaos that a student feels during this horrid week. It is also happens to be the only thing that I can manage to think about, therefore, I feel that writing this might be somewhat therapeutic. So I will catalogue the epic story that is finals week. Prior to the madness: You know the feeling you get before an obligation that is imperative but will bring great agony. You try not to think about it but it lingers, you put it off but you feel guilty, you tell yourself it’s good to relax before hand

Throughout this fall semester, I have learned many things. Before this class, I have never had to buckle down and plan out my writing so tediously. The many outlines, rough drafts, and final drafts have crafted me into a much better writer than I would have ever expected to become. While I have always considered English as one of my strong subjects, through this class I have learned that English has many more components than I originally thought. One of the most substantial of these components is a transitional sentence and through this class and the writing practice it has brought me, I have learned how to properly write them.
For my final extracurricular activity I went to an event ran by an on campus Resident Assistant. At the event we went over how to not stress about finals and effective ways to study. I found this event to be very helpful and informative, we took time to talk about what was stressing us out and how to deal with it, we also played games to relax and have a calm conversation.
A significant percentage of college students spend their time on campus with a lot of stress. This is due to a tight schedule that requires them to balances class time, assignments, tests, projects and extra curriculum activities. Other students are attached to the corporate world notably adult education offered in our campus. The working lot fined it challenging to meet extra workload in their courses. The final exams have a difficult feeling for the candidates due to anxiety of passing.
At the start of this class, I made a goal to develop my writing skills to better prepare me for other courses for my degree. I knew English 106 would be different compared to any other English or college courses that I have taken. I knew English 106 environment will let me grow in diverse writing dimensions. My long serving years of experience in the military has exposed me to many cultures around the globe. In just seven weeks of the course, I have seen some improvement in my writing. This course has afforded me with several techniques that have made writing not only a little bit easier but also more in-depth resulting in a higher level of academic writing versus my normal military style writing. Now I understand the writing process and
“The potential causes of stress are numerous. It may be linked to the outside factors such as the state of the world; environment in which one lives or works, or the family. It may come from one’s own irresponsible behavior, negative attitudes, or feelings or unrealistic expectation. The causes of stress are highly individual.” (David Sam Jayakumar 2013). When stress arises it can be very major or very minor, and it can be caused by a wide range of different outputs. In the life of a college student, there are undoubtedly many things to stress about both academic, and non-academic. The most prevalent of the academic stressors are related to grades, and most prevalent of the non-academic stressors are related to finances.
