On Monday, December 4, 2017. I attended my first ever brass concert. In total there were seventeen pieces played throughout the concert. The seventeen pieces that were played, included: The Old Spagnoletta, Tell me Daphnee, A Toye, His Dreame, and The New Sa-hoo by Giles Faraby; following was Andante con moto-Allegro con brio, Andantino, and Molto Vivace by Jan Koetsier; following that was Prologue, Something’s Coming, Maria, Tonight, America, One Hand, One Heart, I Feel Pretty, and Somewhere by Leonard Bernstein; and lastly was Human Nature by John Bettis. The concert was performed in Davis Hall in the GBPAC. Davis Hall was a very unique concert hall. We were seated on the floor level with the performers. Around the stage there was a balcony …show more content…
I enjoyed myself to the point that this concert no longer felt as if it were an assignment to me. I was happy that I was able to attend this beautiful work of art that was put together by the small group of students and truly enjoy everything that they had put into this concert. I truly do wish that this concert would have been able to have been scheduled to be played in a different concert hall, as not being able to see the performers aside from a small glimpse here or there really had put a damper on the entirety of the concert. The only positive that I was able to find from this was that it kept my eyes from wandering and allowed me to better listen to the music that was being played. It prevented me from being distracted and missing out on pieces of the concert that I may have missed otherwise. One of my favorite parts of the concert had to of been when they had brought out the drum set for the final piece they were going to play for the night. It made you appreciate what foundation the drums can really set for any piece, you might not realize when it there, but as soon as you are to take it away, the piece can feel entirely different. While I was in band through junior high and part of high school, our percussion section truly did play a large part as the foundation of our entire band, and I had not realized it until just after this concert. The percussion in any piece can make the world of difference. It can be the thing that truly makes a piece what it is known
On Friday, November 15, 2013, I attended a concert that I found very interesting. It took place at 7:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. The group performing was the Erie Chamber Orchestra, but as a special the Slippery Rock University Concert Choir was also there. During the performance I attended, two pieces were performed. The first was a Mozart piece by the name of Symphony No. 41.
The concert is performed by the Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The video of this concert is 90 minutes in length. The concert was an ensemble of various Dave Brubeck arrangements utilizing various jazz techniques and styles with mainly the following instruments: bass, piano, trumpet, trombone, tenor sax, soprano sax, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, flute, piccolo, baritone sax, drum, and tambourine. The performance included these 15 pieces: “Unsquare Dance”, “Three to Get Ready”, “The Duke”, “Cassandra”, “Strange Meadowlark”, “Who Will Take Care of Me?”, “It’s a Raggy Waltz”, “Tokyo Traffic”, “Take Five”, “Lost Waltz”, “Upstage Rhumba”, “In Your Own Sweet Way”, “Fast Life”, “Bluette”, and “Blue Rondo a la Turk”. The performance highlights the versatile, influential and extraordinary life’s work of Dave Brubeck.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
One performance that stood out to me during the concert was a song called Sinfonia #3 by J. C. Bach (Wind Ensemble Concert program). The reason I enjoyed this song was because it was performed by nine saxophone players. I would say
...xcited to have this experience. Part of the drama of the concert at first is felt when the musicians come in and sit down and begin tuning up their instruments. I would not be able to comment on the performance of the orchestra. During the performance, I seen the audience were moving with the music, but I felt like that everyone seems knows more music than what I learned throughout this semester. After I went home and did some of the research on these music I finally understand why these people like to attend the orchestra concerto, it was because that every piece of music has a history behind it. The Los Angeles audience seemed to me to be people who know music and who will listen to something new in a respectful way. All the same, when the more familiar sounds of the last piece were heard, I could feel a little sense of relaxation and fun coming into the room.
The band played together in such harmony and joy, and they exchanged looks as if they're talking to each other and understood by looks. As it turns out the guest go the nigh George Gazone was the professor who taught the band members music. Garzone Played the Saxophone like no other, he’s solos were magical it was fascinating watching him and the admiration his student have for him. The music sounded beautiful, yet seems the band are not well prepared for the evening. There was a lot of improvisation and as if every band member wanted to show off his skills which was really good. Improvisation is an element of jazz I was looking for, also, there were a lot of call and response between the band members different ones at each piece they played.
The Philharmonic Orchestra performed at Lindenwood University Friday March 3rd at 8 O’clock. The Orchestra was under the direction of Robert Hart Baker. I have never attended a live orchestra performance so it was eye-opening to listen to the beautiful sounds that arose from the array of instruments in the orchestra. There were about ninety members and more than half of the members were string players which consisted of a lot of violins, cellos, and basses. Behind the strings sat the brass and woodwind instruments which consisted of trumpets, trombones, tubas, clarinets, flutes and oboes to name several. The percussion section was aside the woodwinds and brass. A choir followed in the last piece played and were placed behind the wood winds and brass.
I attended Sam Neufeld’s jazz trumpet performance. As soon as I walked in I can say I was astonished by the medium sized auditorium with instruments perfectly aligned on stage. The lights then dimmed and the men performing walked toward their instruments.
I enjoyed the dance concert; from the thirteen dance performances was the After Part, Eternal Pointe Dreams, and Shifting Perceptions. I actually enjoyed all of the dance performances nbut the main ones that captured my attention were those three dance performances. Today when I went to the dance concert I arrived early to get great front row seats and get a pamflit to gather enough information as possible. I was still not exactly sure what to expect given the fact that the first dance performances wasnt really for me and did not capture my attention so much. Even though I enjoyed the first dance concert because I was able to participate in it. In this second dance concert I was not able to get the chance to participate in it like I did in the first dance concert but it was still such a great dance concert. The reaction from the audience members and my reaction as well towards the dance concert was that it was fantastic. I heard nothing but great coments about this dance concert. I really enjoyed everything about it. My first impression to this dance concert was that it was going ...
In conclusion, the concert was really interesting and I enjoyed myself. In my opinion the two pieces that I really like in this concert, are Sounden Horn and Polonaise from Engine Onegin, the shift between the melodic lines and the element of beauty is what made me like it. In the future I would recommend it to my friends and I will not mind to go with them at all. This kind of music is the best to me by far.
Claude Debussy’s La Mer is a very beautiful piece of music. I thought the concert was wonderfully done. The music sent chills down my spine and I was really able to just sit there and listen. One thing I would have changed is having the live streaming video of the orchestra members displayed on screen behind the orchestra. I found it a little distracting because I would find myself watching the musician without listening to the music. I would have liked the concert more if it had been earlier in the day also. Concert music is so peaceful in my opinion, at least usually in the first movement, that I sometimes become drowsy. I think I could have had a better experience if the concert had been at an earlier time because I was already feeling tired when it started. After hearing the music, it only added to my drowsiness. I have only been to a few classical music concerts but I would have to say this one was my favorite by far. The other two I attended when I was younger so that could also be influencing my opinion because I didn’t appreciate how amazing this music really is. We had great...
Musical concerts are undoubtedly an incredible opportunity to experience a great aesthetic pleasure by listening to the musicians perform in front of your eyes. The power of music can hardly be overestimated – it can transfer a number of messages, thoughts and feelings through the performed sounds. Therefore the one can comprehend the music in the best possible way only when it is heard live. Musical concerts are often revelatory and highly impressive experiences to me. This essay thereby aims to provide my reflections and impressions of the concert of Gregory Porter & the Metropole Orchestra which I had the opportunity to attend in Nashville, TN.
For this classes purposes I would tell anyone to go to this concert, but I am not sure I would tell my friends or family to go. After being to the venue, and seeing how they have changed the layout I love this place for concerts but for this particular concert I fell as though it needed to be in a bigger space. There were so many people that attended the concert and after a while it was very crowded. The music was okay and there were some great moments but I believe that the concepts and media involved needs to be improved before I can call it an excellent concert. For recommending this concert to the class, I would provide the links to their website because this venue host other great concerts every day of the week, and people might want to attend some of the other concerts that they
For me personally, music appreciation is defined as looking at different pieces of music and musical forms, and learning to find appreciation for them. This appreciation is formed not only by listening to several pieces of music, but by learning to understand what you may be listening too. This involves introducing yourself to many pieces of music and learning to interpret, what makes each piece different and unique. Understanding the historical background and societal changes that have taken place during the creation of the musical piece, is also an important factor to consider. Music is not only creative, but it also makes up part of a societies history. Music is an art form that connects different societies and cultures together, it possess the amazing ability to make us into one.
After the show had ended, I felt slightly empty. I had waited years and months for that night, and it was over in the blink of an eye. Although I was sad that the show was over, I felt completely content. Now, when I hear their songs, I get to remember what it felt like to hear the band perform them live. I can watch the videos and try to wrap my mind around how it was real. Going to my first concert was an unparalleled experience that I will always cherish. The ambiance, the band’s performance and the unity the audience
