I attended Sam Neufeld’s jazz trumpet performance. As soon as I walked in I can say I was astonished by the medium sized auditorium with instruments perfectly aligned on stage. The lights then dimmed and the men performing walked toward their instruments. I noticed these men looked much more experienced than the previous jazz concert I attended a week prior. The last jazz concert I attended was performed by undergraduate students, so as soon as Sam Neufeld started performing with his band I noticed they had much more experience. The first song performed was “On the Trail”, after listening to Neufeld’s interpretation of the song I went and listened to the original and I honestly enjoyed his interpretation a lot better. He and his band transformed
On February 17th, I attended the “UIC Jazz Ensemble” at 7 in the evening. The concert was located at the Illinois room in Student Center East. The concert director was Mr. Andy Baker, and he is one of the music professors at UIC. Besides, he is a lead trombonist of the Chicago Jaz Ensemble, co-leader of the sextet BakerzMillion. He is also a first-call theatre and studio musician. The lights in the room were pretty dim, and the room was filled with audiences. I noticed that there were a total of nineteen musicians performing that evening, and a lady jazz singer accompanied the musicians throughout the concert. There were sixteen members playing the wind instruments, including the trumpet, trombone, saxophone, flute, and French horn. Some of them were standing, and some were sitting. Besides wind instrument, the concert also included a guitar, drum and piano into the performance. They were played by Edwin Garcia, Aaron Gorden, James Wenzel and Will Gingrich respectively.

The history of the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will be reflected through a timeline of events, including an analysis of significant events, groups, composers, and advancements. When society envisions a Wind Ensemble, talented musicians, grand music halls, and difficult arrangements typically come to mind. However, a modern-day Wind Ensemble includes a variety of musicians, each with positive and negative aspects. In society today, music is greatly appreciated and accepted. It is considered an honor and a privilege to expose our ears to the music.
Music is magical: it soothes you when you are upset and cheers you up when you are down. To me, it is a communication with souls. I listen to different genres of music. When appreciating each form of music, with its unique rhythm and melody, I expect to differentiate each other by the feelings and emotions that it brings to me. However, I would definitely never call myself “a fan of jazz” until I witnessed Cécile McLorin Salvant’s performance last Friday at Mondavi Center. Through the interpretations and illustrations from Cécile’s performance, I realized that the cultural significance and individual identity are the building blocks of jazz music that create its unique musical features and support its development.
The jazz band I observed played a series of six different songs. Although all the songs were categorized as jazz, each song had its own special style and sound to it. The band consisted of three different players. Paul Meyers, the guitarist and composer, Andy Eulau, the bassist, and Dave Rataczak, on drums. The songs performed were entitled “Love for Sale” by Cole Porter, “Once I Loved” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, “Stars” by Paul Meyers, “Blues for Mel” also by Paul Meyers, “Last Night When We Were Young” by Harold Arlen, and “Samba Novo” by Luis Eca.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
...ked throughout the concert. The pacing of the selections seemed appropriate. No piece sounded like the one before it. There was a great variety of songs played. There were songs played that were written by famous jazz composers and songs played that were written by some of the performers themselves. This added to the excitement of the show.
I enjoy and listen to variety of music from classical music to rap music. I have attended many concerts, mostly symphony bands concerts. However, interestingly, through whole my life, I have never experienced jazz music and I have never been to jazz concert. Therefore, it was hard for me to decide which jazz concerts would give me most pleasure and exciting experience. I researched for jazz concerts listing and I have decided to go to the Ron Eschete Trio Concerts because it was held closed to my house and was free.
On May 2, 2014, Yoron Israel and The Key Players performed at the Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham. The concert lasted approximately an hour and a half and seven pieces were performed. The program included many original songs as well as a few covers from Stevie Wonder and Louis Armstrong. This performance was quite different from the last concert I attended, in that it was a much different style of jazz. Yoron Israel and The Key players concert was very entertaining. However, it was not only the music but also several different works of art that made the show successful.
The band played together in such harmony and joy, and they exchanged looks as if they're talking to each other and understood by looks. As it turns out the guest go the nigh George Gazone was the professor who taught the band members music. Garzone Played the Saxophone like no other, he’s solos were magical it was fascinating watching him and the admiration his student have for him. The music sounded beautiful, yet seems the band are not well prepared for the evening. There was a lot of improvisation and as if every band member wanted to show off his skills which was really good. Improvisation is an element of jazz I was looking for, also, there were a lot of call and response between the band members different ones at each piece they played.
The event I attended was “An Evening of Jazz” concert held at the Fine Arts Hall on November 17 at 7:30 p.m. The performing groups were The Santa Fe Rhythm and Blues Review, The Santa Fe Jazz Combo, and Santa Fe Big Band. The event was to for me to understand, experience Jazz music and know the instruments used.
This piece was filled with improvisation and you could feel the creativity following from the musicians. The combo didn’t have a conductor like the big band and was significantly smaller. Although, the combo was smaller and less formal it wasn’t any less of a performance. The piece started out with a phenomenal alto sax solo by Kevin Clements of Lamar, Missouri. Kevin is a talented musician, with his dark, rich sounding solo, he hit it out of the park. Ivan Vazquez of Garden City, Kansas performed another great solo on the trombone. Maddy Beasley, Kearney, Missouri followed Ivan with a tenor saxophone

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, I experienced my first evert Jazz concert. The CSUN Jazz Faculty Concert opened up my perspective on jazz music before attending this concert I had the idea that jazz concerts were very mellow and low like the type of music people would listen to during yoga. However, the CSUN Jazz Faculty Concert showed me otherwise the concert was very hyped and upbeat like dance music even so that people in the audience got up and began to dance at certain points. Although, program pamphlets were not provided the jazz concert was very easy to follow along with and understand which is impressive considering that the first concert had two new members the day of the performance since the original two members were unable to attend on short notice. The second jazz concert was performed by CSUN undergraduate students who also continued the upbeat feeling of the first jazz group.
When I was an extremely young fellow, simply starting to advance, I was welcome to feast at the home of a recognized New York giver. After supper our master drove us to a huge drawing room. Different visitors were pouring in, and my eyes observed two alarming sights: workers were orchestrating little overlaid seats in long, flawless columns; and in advance, inclining toward the divider, were musical instruments. Clearly I was in for a night of Chamber music.
