There are many decisions that must be made in college, one of which includes choosing what professor should be taken. There are many resources that may help in making this decision, one of the most popular among new students is RateMyProfessor.com. Even though it is popular, Students should not rely on RateMyProfessor.com because the website lacks a variety of aspects about the professor, the commenters are not verified, and not many people rate the professor.
To start off, the website lacks many aspects about the professor. Currently, RateMyProfessor bases their rating on three attributes about the professor, which includes level of difficulty, hotness, and overall quality. There is a clear lack of information, other possible categories that are useful would include, education, and work experience. These categories are important in defining how well the professors know the material and what the focus of their studies were.

Even though the rates should not be filled out before completing the course, there is nothing stopping anyone from submitting a review even if they are not taking the class. “A department chair noted that a woman member was crestfallen because her ratings on ratemyprofessor were low, with comments like ‘don’t go to her for fashion tips’. Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education 365 The department chair then went to ratemyprofessor.com and made a couple of very flattering entries designed to lift the spirits of the faculty member (Otto)” As demonstrated by this statement, these reviews can be made by anyone, regardless if they take the class or not. Therefore, the comments are not always founded on a sincere review of the
Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier of 1987-1988 Background: At Hazel East High School, the school has a sponsored newspaper called “The Spectrum” that is written and edited by the students. In May of 1983, the high school principal, Robert E. Reynolds, received the edited version of the May 13th edition. Upon inspecting the paper, he found two articles that he found “inappropriate.” The two articles contained stories about divorce and teen pregnancy. An article on divorce featured a student who blamed her father’s actions for her parents’ divorce.
T. Paulette Sutton is one of the world’s leading experts in bloodstains and is the former Assistant Director of Forensic Services and Director of Investigations at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. She has been involved in nationally known murder cases and has worked hard during her long career to make a position contribution to the legal system. In this paper I will discuss two different case studies. The first case study involves a 35-month old girl named Kim who struggles with meal time, potty training, and play time with others. I will discuss four assistive technology devices, that would work for Kim. These devices will assist Kim with balance, mobility and undressing. The second case study involves a school age child name Billy, who struggles with benchmark objectives. Billy is in the fourth grade and use Assistive technology devices reading and math. I will discuss different AT devices that can be used to assist Billy with reading and math.
Professor McConnell is very inspiring in the way she teaches her class, and handles herself in class very gracefully, and professionally. Professor McConnell always encourages her students to do their very best, and if they have a problem Professor McConnell is always willing to listen. In this writing we are going to learn a little bit more about Professor McConnell. Moreover Professor McConnell is a very kind, and gracious person. She is distinguished in the way the Professor McConnell treats her students in her class. Also, if the other students cannot see this in Professor McConnell they should, because she gives so much of herself. With that said you will learn what her first profession was, and what brought her to her job today, and what she sees for herself in the future.
Something that I will hold close to my heart that I read was, “My own successes and failures were largely determined by the role I adopted. Yet my experience has taught me that we can decide to become learners who actively pursue knowledge and understanding. And that decision—simply choosing to act as a learner—can enable you to grow and improve in all of your learning opportunities.” This information is very important to remember because I am the person who determines the grades I make, not anyone else. Even if I do not have the best professor, I should not blame them, because ultimately, I am the one responsible for my academic success.
Staples wrote, “Professors at every level inflate to escape negative evaluations by students, whose opinions now figure in tenure and promotion decisions”. (935) to tell the truth, I disagree with Staples opinion. I ponder on if it really the students or is it the professor. If a couple of students leave a bad review that will not make the professor look bad if they are giving them the grades they deserve. Why are the students in charge of the professor’s job? That is a question no one can answer. There are several aspect to consider whether or not the professor could be doing the job for the money or have too much pride in letting others see them do bad. Those aspects should be taking into consideration when speaking about grade inflation. I feel as if Staples is putting more blame on the students and parents than the teachers and administrators. Even if colleges use Staples’ proposal colleges are still faced competition among online universities. Students who attend a college campus generally end up in debt causing more people to steer toward receiving their diplomas online. Therefore, grade inflation will continue to rise because of the fear among
This case study demonstrates a young woman leader, Toby Johnson, who used to serve in the military as a pilot and attended Harvard Business School, joined PepsiCo’s Leadership Development Program (LDP), and was working in the management team at the Williamsport plant. She determined to forge ahead, and led the plant to achieve the Level 3 CI and also won the Doolin Award, which the Williamsport plant had never achieved before. The problem that Johnson encounters currently is that if the plant should continue to forge ahead and achieve the ultimate Level 4 CI, which will cost huge amount of money and efforts with the risk of her sudden leave of plant.

Differences in rater behaviors are among the factors responsible for variability in the decision making process(DMP) during ratings. The interference of either the rater rating style or rater experience determines the validity and reliability of the rating score and the rater themselves. Factors related to rater inconsistencies identification and measurement in DMP is necessary to avoid factors underlying variability in decision making process . Several studies have identified rater proficiency level, rater experiences and tasks as its factors. The purpose of this paper is to critically review two articles that contribute to describe insights of rater behavior related to the factors studied. Barkaoui (2010) ‘Variability in ESL Essay Rating Processes: The Role of the Rating Scale and Rater Experience’ identifies effects of rating scales and experiences on raters behavior through think aloud protocol. While Baker (2012)’Individual Differences in Rater Decision-Making Style: An Exploratory Mixed-Methods Study” defines and addresses decision making style (DMS) as a factor related to decision making process in writing assessments rating. The following summary and critical evaluation of these articles explicitly provide what involves in raters decisions as well as the strength and weaknesses of these two articles.
Finding the right doctor for particular health issues may be a difficult task. When the doctor needs to be a specialist in the area of orthopedics, the task may go from difficult to overwhelming. The Infant and Toddler Rating Scale is just one of the four scales that share the same format and use a scoring system. All the scales have different requirements because they assess different age groups and different settings. These tests are checking on the organization of space, interactions, activities, schedules and provisions of staff and parents. This scale is specifically setup for children from birth to 30 months of age; this group is most vulnerable physically, emotionally and mentally. This scale assesses the environment for the children’s health and safety, appropriate stimulation through language and activities with warm interactions.
When the schools community is strong and works together, both the students and administration will feel more motivated and strive for progress. I think classroom observations are important and needed to properly evaluate a teacher. The multiple surveys, like parent, student, or peer surveys can help identify where a teacher may be having some problems or any accomplishments within the classroom of that teacher. Everyone may have a different view of the teacher though which can affect the ratings, like if a particular student or colleague may be bias toward them. I think that surveys are generally on point and fair but you can definitely not judge the teacher off only reviews as they hold simply a small percentage of the teacher evaluation. The student’s achievement in the classroom and throughout the school as a whole is a big factor in evaluating the success of teachers not only in CT but nationally and worldwide. The observations of a teacher and how they perform in the classroom is also an important and necessary element in the evaluation. Students will eventually be the next generation of society, and we teachers have to set them up to achieve and flourish in the real
My best FDU professor so far has been my general psychology professor, Dr. Brodhead. I am a psychology major, so I was really excited going into this course and was hoping to have a good experience. Dr. B is really helpful, and she keeps the class fun. Her assignments are actually really interesting, so they don’t feel like such a burden when you’re working on them. We’ve even done projects in class where we’ve had to color in different parts of the brain, the ear, and neurons to learn their structures, which really helped because they were easier to identify on the tests. She explains all of the information we learn thoroughly so that it’s easy to get an A on the tests and in the class as long as you study.
My three college choices are University of Florida, University of Seattle and Ohio University. Each of these colleges have good qualities for my careers. I’m not very sure what exactly I want to have a career in. Two of my main choices are veterinarian or child care. Some of my concerns are the distance, cost of tuition, the quality of the program, and the recreation at the colleges.
Having some courses with no grades gives the students the ability to learn the material, be more interactive without worrying about the interaction, and increase their performance in challenging tasks.
