This is not about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Between Leonardo (1452-1519) and Raphael (1483-1520) . This is “father and master of all the arts”. The “renaissance man”. A synonym to the “best of the Italian renaissance. The sculptor, architect, painter, and poet. This is the influence of Raphael. Competitor of Leonardo da Vinci. Son of Leonardo di Buonarrota Simoni and Francesca Neri. Brother to five. This is about Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni.

The thing about Michelangelo is that; unlike many he was famous while he was still alive. Most iconic characters in history only achieved glory after their death. While doing painting, poetry, and sculpting he became a dominate figure amongst the highest powers, including several Popes and other members associated with the Catholic church. In all of Michelangelo’s work he glorifies the elegance, form, symmetry, and rationality of the body.

The art only took three years to complete, finishing in 1504. In sculpting “David” Michelangelo is celebrating the human body and its strive for perfection. Also the fact that “David” is in the nude adds that Michelangelo is showing his well-calculated ratios of the human body. The story behind the marble sculpture is the biblical story of David and the Goliath. This sculpture is to take place when he decided to fight the goliath but before the fight took place. The story shows humanism by a man who can be a hero by using his intelligence and bravery. The seventeen foot piece of marble is a prized representative of the city of Florence.
