Kindness Always
Lucius Annaeus Seneca once stated, “Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.” These words once spoken are so true and prove to be to this day. Every day in human life there are unfortunate events that happen and maybe some days when nothing seems to go right, it is then when the kindness of humans can not be ignored. Random acts of kindness are part of humans everyday life, ranging from big to little. Time and time again people make mistakes, but that is just human nature. It can not take away from the fact that humans are not what some think. The human species is known to some as cruel, but when you really look into things humans are just the opposite; they are kind.
There is a foundation called the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. This foundation is purely based on being kind to others and promoting more kindness. As the RAK likes to describe themselves, “We’re a small, but mighty team making huge strides towards building a kinder world” (Random Acts of Kindness, RAK). The foundation was founded by Gary Dixon and the members of the RAK foundation call themselves RAKtivist’s. There are currently 18,633 members from all around the world ranging from the ages of 14-89. These people are random strangers that have

They originally just celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day, on February 17th, along with National Kindness Day, which takes place on November 13th. They decided that since those days were so big they might as well make it a whole week to celebrate, and there are people from all over that celebrate with them. As the RAK foundation says, “If the world can commit one ordinary day to kindness, why not extend that commitment by 6 more?” It is truly inspiring to see how much kindness is alive and it especially shows in times like that week and those two
In a short story called, “Thank you ma’am”, the author is trying to convey the theme, or message, of the importance of showing random acts of kindness towards others to help institute change. Mrs.J show one act of kindness when she washes his face. Another when she makes Roger food at her house. Mrs.J is kind and shows multiple examples throughout the story.
Kindness can really make a difference in a person's attitude. In “A Christmas Carol”, the Cratchits and Scrooge's nephew Fred show kindness to Scrooge, even though Scrooge showed quite the opposite to them. Or in “Thank you M’am”, when Ms. Jones makes Roger food and gives him money to buy his shoes, instead of reporting him to the police. Even in “Little Things Are Big”, when Jesus decides to help people even if he has to face prejudism. These stories all show turning points, and these examples show

Homelessness is not something that I could ever imagine completely. I, like everyone else, have a simple idea of what it would be like to be homeless. There is so much more to being homeless than most believe. My exposure to Habitat for Humanity is showing me some about the idea of living in a lower income family. This exposure is an experience that all high school and college students should have.
People's who do not receive affection as children impacts their future relationships. In Khaled Hosseini novels, he illustrates the psychological results of people’s lack of affection in their early ages. Hosseini’s novels take place in Afghanistan during the Soviet Regime. In his novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, the story follows Mariam and Laila, two co-wives of a middle aged man, Rasheed. Mariam is first introduced in the novel; she is the daughter of Nana and Jalil. She is a harami, a child conceived out of wedlock, with a father that is ashamed of her and a mother who is unable to provide her with the love and affection that she needs. At the age of fifteen, Mariam decides she wants to go and discover her father’s life and meet his family, which results in Nana committing suicide. After the death of her mother, Jalil and his wives, force Mariam to get married to Rasheed who is older than her by at least thirty years. Her marriage with Rasheed is filled with mental and physical abuse. The novel then introduces, Laila who becomes Rasheed’s second wife but she does not have a choice. At the time she gets married, she has just lost her entire family including the love of her life, Tariq. Laila and Tariq are childhood best friends who become intimate and have sexual intercourse before marriage. In Islam, this is considered to be haram which means forbidden. When Laila comes to the Rasheed household, she is injured and he tricks her by convincing her that her best friend is dead. Unfortunately, Mariam marries him because she realizes that she is already pregnant with Tariq’s child. Mariam never has children of her own but makes a strong connection with Laila's children, especially Aziza. Aziza is also a harami. Laila and her two ch...
Having a wish fulfilled is a desire everyone keeps, but granting one is a special characteristic of a chosen few. Such is the ideology of the Make a wish foundation. This simple, but powerful belief is what drives the Make-A-Wish foundation. For children who must face the uncertainty of a tomorrow, due to their rapidly deteriorating health, a wish is more than just a desire. It’s a hope. Hope is what carries us out of the darkest of slums, to keep going. To face a tomorrow. Make-A-Wish is committed to granting the wish of every eligible child. They do this believing that wishes can make sick children feel better, and sometimes, when they feel better, they get better. Since the spring of 1980, they have been granting the wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical conditions. The make a wish foundation has the ability to not only unite a society as whole and further the awareness of life threatening illnesses, but also gives hope to individuals and a community as a whole.
“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see” – Mark Twain.
“Sometimes it 's easy to walk by because we know we can 't change someone 's whole life in a single afternoon. But what we fail to realize it that simple kindness can go a long way toward encouraging someone who is stuck in a desolate place.” ~ Mike Yankoski
"I work off and on. Mostly day work is all there is. Used to be a teacher. I'd like to find a good job, but how? When you're on the street, you've got one set of clothes, two if you're lucky, and they're always dirty. No place to shave, shower, clean up. And any job that's decent will ask for an address, phone number, a driver's license. It's hard to break out of the cycle and into focus. " --Mark (a homeless person)
The act of kindness comes by very seldom. “Being kind and generous to people will take you very far in life” is what my great grandmother always told me. Smiling from ear to ear, eyes gazing across the room and that special touch are all it took for her to make someone day. Many days were made if you were surrounded by her and saw that big, bright, and beautiful smile. Soft hands are what she had from giving her entire life. No one went without, you could be a total stranger but she would give you her last.
Ensuring that all members of society are taken care of and are treated respectfully is crucial to ensuring the well being of society as a whole. To say that those less fortunate should be left to fend for themselves, or that it is not our responsibility as citizens and responsible members of society to assist those in need of help is simply selfish. How would you feel if you were the one in need of assistance? We the people that make up society must contribute our time, resources and effort to help others who are less privileged and more susceptible to sickness due to their living conditions and the situation that they are stuck in. Ultimately, society stands to benefit when we take care of those members of society that are in need of shelter, food, financial assistance etc. Furthermore, in doing so, we are also keeping our community safe by eliminating the need for those less fortunate to turn to crime as a way to feed themselves and their family. One can only be pushed so far until self-preservation becomes the most important factor to a person, thus pushing those who are hungry to resort to stealing, robbing and other such crimes to survive.

It's not about giving people things, but more so about one’s daily gestures and what one says to everyone each day. Being kind might be tough at times but in the end avoiding a rude comment is much better than saying one. There are so many ways to show others that being kind is important so don’t be afraid to try some out. Looking into it further, if everyone in the world was kind, we could avoid conflicts from small fights on the streets to world wars because everyone would be able to communicate and compromise with one another in a civilized
Kindness is the key to most everything. Being kind means taking the high road, even when someone has wronged you. It means serving other people, even under inconvenient circumstances. It involves looking for the good in others, and even helping them to see the good in themselves. Kindness is spreading happiness to make other’s day better and by making them smile. Kindness is defending those who are picked on by others, sitting by those who are lonely, and saying hi to someone in the hall. Kindness is being someone who wants to build up those around them.
The Charity Organization Society was based in the scientific movement of organizations. Workers believed that charity work needed more definition and organization and that charity should be focused more on individual need rather than as a whole population. Focusing on individual need was intended to improve relief operations while making resources more efficient. They also intended to eliminate public outdoor relief. With the promotion of more organization and efficiency the new Charity Organization Societies were born. Trattner states that these new requirements for organization and efficiency spread so “rapidly that within 6 years 25 cities had such organizations and by the turn of the century there were some 138 of them in existence” (Trattner, 1999).
