The movie “Rain Man” was released in 1988. This movie is basically about two brothers who go on an adventure together, but not just for good intentions. This movie stars Tom Cruise, who plays as the character Charlie Babbit, and Dustin Hoffman, who plays as the character Raymond. In the beginning of the movie, one would have never thought that Charlie Babbitt had a brother. Charlie Babbitt owned his own automobile company. He appeared successful and very self-centered. Charlie Babbit’s automobile company is in trouble. He is in serious debt. On top of Charlie Babbit dealing with his financial burden with his automobile company taking a toil, he soon finds out that his father has died. Talk therapy is a variety of treatments that help a person with their problems within their life including feelings, behavior, and/or thoughts. Talk therapy includes talking treatments and counseling. Talk therapies include the following: Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, Humanistic Techniques, Psychodynamic Therapy Etc. The one that would be most efficient for savant autism would be Humanistic Techniques because they focus on how the person feels about themselves, their condition, and their family. It is also coinciding with Psychodynamic and Behavioral Techniques as well. Talking therapies can be very helpful when it comes to being able to identify one’s self, one’s abilities, and acceptance of the ability.Within the movie Rain Man, I noticed how he was a middle-aged man who has been instituted in a mental health facility since he was five years of age. He was able to identify his own health problem, yet he was still dealing with his symptoms and “gift.” “During talking therapy, the therapist takes into account the patient’s cognitive abilities, reality testing, thought process, capacity to organize behavior, affect regulation, and capacity to relate to others in order to determine the patient’s location on the continuum.
