The radio began as a form of a telegraph from point to point. The radio impacted society in many types of ways in which made the radio such an amazing step for the society. The revolution in radio communication greatly increase the form of communication to a whole new advancement. Starting from not having any radio stations at all do having many today. In the past many people believed that radio would disrupt with other types of factors which were already there such as musicians, photographers, and more. For example, the mexican race listened more to music on the radio than white people who targeted more at the politics. As mentioned by Michele Hilmes from his book “Radio Reader: Essays in the cultural history of the radio”, he states that radio stations were really great especially to groups defined by race and ethnicity because of the fact that stations were directed towards a specific culture or race that made it possible for everyone to be able to listen to a radio station that targeted their group. The time in which both men and women best benefited from the radio was during the time of the great depression as mentioned by the author Michele in his book where people had to use the radio to communicate and know what is going on.
