Quora Business Expansion Quora has users all over the globe, and is changing the way people share knowledge. As Adam D’Angelo put it, “Quora aims to allow anyone to easily share their knowledge and in the process to dramatically increase the total amount of knowledge available to the world”. To do so, Quora should expand and reach as many people as possible, from the labs of Stanford University to a small village in Nigeria, to the backstage of international events such as the Conclave. There are more than 7 Billion people in the world, about 1,5B of them speak English, 3B are online: if everyone shared their knowledge online, each one of us would have the knowledge we should but we don’t have the time, connections and skills to get. …show more content…
While Quora might not be for everyone, expanding the list of topics might be an easy way to serve less-educated people. Gender Male are overrepresented on Quora, while female users are underrepresented. Serving more women in the countries where Quora is already a top website would be an easy way to gain more users. Afterwards they can either hire that person, "purchase" the service or keep by themselves. If they are not on Quora because they don’t have time for it, they could set their price extremely high to prevent people from asking noisy questions (see Jimmy Wales). This might be done in the following steps: Cold reaching out prominent figures One-to-One meetings with them explaining the benefits of Quora (also good in terms of PR, i.e. Quora meets the Pope) Offering the support for Quora: someone who proofreads the content and follows the notifications (i.e. you got X upvotes, or who select comments that needs an answer and who reports daily/weekly questions that have been asked to that person. Content will be original but they will be helped in managing it) After the trial period ends they can either purchase the service or keep using Quora without support (this can also be a revenue stream for Quora) Prominent figures might be: Pope Winsdor Family Pippa Middleton Football players Innovation Champions Junker Merkel Global Shapers The Economist editors Forbes 30 under
Woolf, an author, discusses many of the injustices that she had personally faced due to the fact that she was a woman. In one example, Woolf was walking on the grass in order to get to a place more quickly, as the sidewalk would have taken longer. She was then told to return to the path because only men and scholars were allowed to be on the grass, or turf as she referred to it as. She was then forced to take the sidewalk just because of her gender. Later, she was then forced to exit a university library because you had to be a male attending the college, been in accompaniment with a male who is attending the college, or had a “letter of introduction”. Fortunately, both women and men can now both go wherever they please without an accompanying male or a signed letter (as long as they are not trespassing). The barrier of where women could travel has been broken down for the most part given women’s rights movements in different areas across the globe. Unfortunately, there are still areas around the globe where women still face this barrier. I believe that charities and other activist groups should focus some more attention on these areas of the world so that these women can enjoy the freedom that we all take for
Because of the enormous popularity of reddit, users are able to take unprecedented advantages of the larger communities. Participants can use reddit to raise attention by using some of the largest communities for revolutionary or influential purposes. Reddit really is a community with its own culture and history that increasingly has an effect on the real world. Things like meeting up in person, raising money for charity, holding the largest secret Santa, or sending teachers the supplies they need. But it’s hard to understand what reddit really is about without jumping in and experiencing it yourself. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder how you used the Internet without it.
This quote from Simon Mainwaring emphasizes the purpose of social media and how using it works to create a community. Each discourse community has a different standard in communication and everyday we are asked to use different ways to communicate. The way we communicate can tell a lot about the community we are in. Each day is a new opportunity to communicate with different people who are a part of several communities. Every community has a different view of communication but they work together to achieve their goals.
In Steve Johnsons’ article, “It’s All About Us,” he says that “web 2.0 is organized around people …adding their voice to the web’s evolving conversations as a megaphone.” By this he means that technology brings the opportunity for the spread of effective communication by allowing people to talk and
completely and making payments for only the time duration of the calls made by the customer.

Does anyone realize what gender inequality is doing to our country as a whole? Not everyone may think it has a great impact on our society, but gender inequality creates many of our problems today, including wealth, income, and status discrimination. I chose to write about this topic because I believe that this is one of the biggest problems that all societies face, not just the United States. Fixing the gender inequality issues in our country could have a bigger impact than what many people may think. Changing something that most consider to be so minuscule could play a very important part in a much bigger picture in our country.
"Social media now provides individuals a low-cost means of sharing ideas as participants in citizen-centered communities" (Tran, 2013, p.400), enabling more transparent and open access to discussion and debates between citizens by interacting and sharing a post, allowing them to "critique and assess an unlimited variety of ideas and issues with expanding circles of communities" (Tran, 2013, p.401). In contrast to traditional media, where people have only been receivers of the information, with the emergence of social media, "people become spreaders of information and producers of political contents in a way that is much easier than in the past" (Calderaro, 2018, p.785). This allows a more democratic process of participating citizens in the political life of their nation-state, where they get to access the information while also circulating it and assessing it, in contrast to traditional media, which was solely transmitted from the government, increasing the chances of limiting people to propaganda and even autocratic practices. In parallel, social media encourages dialogue as well between the government and its citizens; for instance, "numerous government institutions, including administrative agencies, the White House, and the State Department, maintain Facebook pages, 3 Twitter accounts, 4 and blogs in which
Women are commonly seen on construction sites working side by side with their male peers. There is a proliferation of female doctors, lawyers and professionals of all types. More and more women are becoming involved in the nation’s politics as well. In 2010 we had our first female Prime Minister and the possibilities now seem endless. There are still discriminatory practices in place.

There are three explanations is to why women are underrepresented. One, social explanations, women are underrepresented because the ideology that women should be domestic and they should not be running to be MPs. Two, institutional explanation is the ideology that men will do better job than women. Three, behavioral explanation, the ideology that voters prefer man over women although this has diminished now, it is still true for older voters. The most important reason that women fare better under PR systems relates to party strategy in putting together a slate of candidate.
Disney’s aim is to be the top leader in producing and providing entertainment by using its range of brands to provide variety of services and products to customers (Carillo et al. 2012). Therefore, marketing gives a huge contribution in Disney expansion. Marketing can be defined as a fundamental for marketers to satisfy customers’ needs and wants as well as their desires (Sheth, Sisodia & Sharma 2000). It is also known as a process of understanding, determining and satisfying consumers’ necessities (The Chartered Institute of Marketing 2009). According to Groonros (2006), marketing is a structural process
Wide coverage: It has made the World a global village thus making communication within the globe effective.
In 2017, there were a reported 2.8 billion people who used social media, which makes up about 40% of the world’s population. These statistics can be broken down further by individual social media sites: Facebook had a reported 1.9 billion users, Youtube had 1 billion, and Instagram had 600 million.
Our society depends on knowledge. A new way to communicate this knowledge quickly is through social media (The Power of Social Media 1). Learning through social networking is very useful because the participant can learn the things he wants at the rate he desires (The Power of Social Media 1). Several social media sites have become largely popular, like Facebook and Twitter. With new sites being created year round, it is quite obvious that social networking sites will be prevalent for a while (The Growth of Social Media 1). The main reason social media has become so common is because of its quick access. Anyone can know virtually anything he desires if enough time and effort are put into finding that info (The Power of Social Media 1). Knowledge alone has a very powerful aspect (The Power of Social Media 1). As humans, we long for a sense of knowledge because we are curious beings. People want to know what is going on around them. Not only does knowledge provide a sense of satisfaction, it also expands our options. (Phoenix 1). The more options there are, the more freedom a pers...
