Monkeys are funny and intelligent animals. Curious George is a classic children’s story about a fictional monkey who was caught in the jungle and brought back to the city by a man in a yellow hat. George wanted to learn about everything around him. Many people today have pygmy marmosets for exotic pets, The pygmy marmoset is a the world’s smallest monkey breed. Pygmy marmosets are adorable, social creatures that enjoy all types of monkey business.
The Pygmy marmoset can fit in a persons’ coat pocket. Their eyes are like a little baby full of wonder and curiosity. The scientific name of the Pygmy marmoset is Calthri pygmaea (Long 2005). They are part of the Cebidae family (www.bronxzoo.com). Interestingly, despite their small size they are vertebrates (www.bronxzoo.com). Although, they are in the monkey family they have unique features.
The distinct physical features of the Pygmy marmoset make it easily identifiable. Most notably, the average size of the marmoset is four to six inches and it can fit into the pa...
: The Plesiadapiforms are tiny mouse like creatures that lived during the 10 million period between the extinction of dinosaurs and appearance of humans. This could be our primate ancient ancestor. This primate has around more than 120 different species of its kind.

In the book Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls, Jay lives near monkeys that will make him rich if he catches them. The book took place in the Cherokee Ozarks of Oklahoma in the 19th century. The protagonist of the book is Jay Berry, a 14-year-old boy who is very arrogant but changes as the book ends. The monkeys are obviously the antagonist of the novel. The monkeys are extremely intelligent creatures, especially Jumbo, the smart leader of the pack. The conflict of the story is man vs. nature. In the novel the Summer of the Monkeys, the importance of overcoming fears through its development of the plot and theme.

grizzly bears prefered habitat is deserted rivers, wild mountains, and thick and dense forest. Grizzly bears are majestic symbols of the wild. Bears live in and use a variety of habitat types, playing important roles in each one. This makes them an “umbrella species,” meaning that when we protect them and their habitat we also protect many species. Grizzly bears can also help ecosystems by distributing seeds and nutrients through their scat, and occasionally regulating ungulate populations.
One characteristic that is evident in all primate species is home ranges (Boyd 123). It can be assumed that the home range for Praenthropus dimorphicus is relatively large. My reasoning behind this statement is the fact that body size is directly correlated to size of the home range. The larger the sp...
Furthermore, the grey squirrel’s color and size are distinctive traits that separate it from other species. First of all, coloring stays the same when it comes to males and females. Its hue ranges from pale grey to dark grey (Fischer, Lawinczak, Pagad). Its ears, underparts, and tail are all white to pale grey. Ginger-colored fur can be found on this squirrel’s head, hips, feet, and underparts (Lawiczak, Pagad). A natural occurrence among the grey squirrel is melanism, meaning it has an elevated amount of melanin in its pelt (Fischer, Lawinczak, Pa...
The weight of the sloth has evolved over time helping them to adapt to life in the trees. The sloth is also the world’s slowest mammal, so slow that algae grows on its furry coat. The plant gives it a greenish that is useful camouflage in the trees of its Central and South American rainforest habitat. All sloths are built for life in the treetops and they spend nearly all their time in the trees. They hang from the branches, gripping with their long claws. Most sloths sleep some 15-20 hours a day. When they are awake, the barely move so the appear to still be asleep.(6) Their forearms are longer than their thighs so when on land, the crawl with their elbows and their claws. They also have thighs that are spaced so widely that they cannot
Hello United Nations! I am going to start off by telling you a little bit about us and our organization. We are the Organization for African Endangered Animals. We are a private agency in Africa who protect the welfare of endangered animals. We are the voice of the animals. They cannot speak for themselves so we speak for them. We do our best to protect our animals but we have limited sources and funding. Our focus right now is one of the most endangered species in the world, the Dama Gazelle.
Cats and dogs are fun to play with and fun to be around. However, some people go for snakes, birds, or rodents; most people usually prefer a four-legged animal like a cat or dog. Dogs and cats share seldom similarities, but they 're totally different. They have different attitudes, habits, and needs. Wanting love, loyalty, and protection, a dog is a choice. Cats, on the other hand, don 't need attention nor love. Sometimes do we take advantage of our animals because of their size and vulnerability? Beating, improper care, and use of fighting, causes harm to our furry pets. Inflicting pain and making our animals suffer is atrocious. Because our animals can 't speak for themselves, we need to speak for them and stop animal abuse.
I will just take it home and see what this fake thing can do.” The man went back to his house and sat down on the chair in the dining room staring at the monkey’s paw. He told his wife and daughter about how the old fakir gave him the monkey’s paw and how it granted wishes. The man said to the monkey’s paw “I wish for a million dollars.”
The Tibetan Mastiff is a large, impressive, powerful, robust dog, which has always been appreciated by breeders due to its good health and longevity. Tibetan Mastiff has an average lifespan of 16 years, but may also exceed this age. Hard to believe, this dog almost never gets sick. Most of the large dog breeds suffer from hip dysplasia, but in Tibetan Mastiffs this disease is extremely rare, still we coulndn’t say that the dog makes an exception from it. The fact is that there are very few reported cases of Mastiff dogs that suffer from this condition.
For years studies and observations have been made on the relationship between body size and physical orientation of an animal. In 1847 Carl Bergmann was one of the first to do observations with this phenomenon (Dictionary of Theories 2002). Bergmann noticed that warm-blooded animals living at climates high in latitude are bigger in size than those living in climates of lower latitudes (Dictionary of Theories 2002). Research has shown there is a correlation of surface area to volume in animals that are located in different parts of the globe. Animals living in a cooler climate have a larger volume, but decreased surface area to retain as much body heat as possible. The inverse is true for animals living in warmer regions; these animals have a smaller volume and larger surface area to allow the body to cool efficiently (McNab 1971). Bergmann’s rule has brought valuable insight into the study of character traits and how we identify where animals originated. One example that I came across is with the Andean passerine bird, a study was done in 1991 by G. R. Graves. He noticed the size of ...
When I was three years old, I spent my summer in a pond by my home chasing frogs and snakes. When I was five years old, my mother found me sleeping under a mare with her foal. When I was fifteen I spent my spare time working for a family friend’s thoroughbred farm. However, my first love for animal care was born when I was nineteen when I first held an owl. I was an extremely fortunate child to grow up in the Maine wilderness as I did, learning to marvel at the raw beauty of nature at a young age. I attended a nature themed summer camp every year throughout my youth, learning about the sciences of soil and water systems and how they impacted the animals around them. I took every opportunity to immerse myself in animals at any opportunity, from
Stray animals are dangerous reason being is children or elderly people can be bit while walking or playing around at parks. I live in Mercedes and at one point when I was walking from stars to the high school, and stray dog for no reason started growing at me and my instinct was to run until I got the a building. This can happen to anyone, they can be attacked trying to touch a stray or just simply walking by, or even worse a child can catch a disease. Also owners with their pets are also getting attacked by stray animals because they strays tend to be over protective of their territory, or they just want to fight with the pet of the owner.
