I know I need to focus more on the small details, so the information I read this week has helped me allot. I to love to compare old information with new and making comparisons and coming to a whole new conclusion. As I look back into my high school years, I thought I wrote papers well. But then coming into a college environment, my papers were mediocre. By overlooking at my past papers, I found that they were unorganized, sloppy and had bad use of diction. From now on, I will use the tools I learned in English 1100-40 as a foundation for the future papers I intend on writing in college. Following the criteria of organizing ideas so that they flow, impacting the reader with diction and also by being creative, will help become an ideal writer. Following the criteria of staying motivated in short and long term goals, taking responsibility for actions and finally the ability to study well will help me develop into a supreme student.
Another thing that I observed and recorded with an a frequency count was Jamie doing several work sheets. One of theses worksheets was a math specifically counting and the other worked on identifying objects that started with the letter R. After the teacher gave instructions on both the papers Jamie started to work on her worksheets. With in the time it took her to finish these worksheets (less then 15 minute) Jamie ask on of the adults if she was doing the work correctly about seven times. One thing that I would modify in the future is the instructions that were given at the beginning. This course and writing these essays has drastically improved my writing capabilities. Before this course I could not write an enthymeme or effectively write an argumentative paper. Establishing a clear and strong enthymeme to a question at issues helps me organize my ideas within the body paragraphs and keeps me from becoming repetitive. I understand now that addressing a counter argument strengthens my paper and helps tell the reader that you know your topic and have strong reasons. I look forward to using the writing skills I learned in this class towards future writing opportunities either with my studies or outside of school. I will continue to use enthymemes to effectively state my claim and reason and to strengthen my argument.

I read the Syllabus very carefully, as requested, and I do not have any questions. The topic I choose to do a web field trip on to search and return with one fact is “Specific Populations to assess: developmentally challenged”. I am using information from APA.org, which is where I found the one fact that was requested for this assignment. What I found was a set of guidelines for the treatment and assessment of people with disabilities that were developed by a task force of APA specialists. I am using the section “Testing and Assessment” which includes Guidelines 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 (APA Task Force, 2017) I found the fact that I am going to share under Guideline 15 which is “Psychologists strive to determine whether accommodations are appropriate for clients to yield a valid test score” (APA Task Force, 2017, Guideline 15).

This week in my HUMI 1 class, the one topic that we discussed in class that captured my attention was the state of being Naiveté. Although being naive is often looked down upon, it can also be something that you require in order to achieve your goals. When looking into the topic of Naiveté, the first person that I went to was my father. He was a refugee after the Vietnam war in 1975. Vietnam, even to this day, is not a place that many would want to live in. According to my father, during his time there, it was a filthy place to live and everyone there would often get sick. In this class I have really learned to use a different level of thinking in my papers. Teachers often have complemented my ability to prove a point with the spoken word, but always offer advice when referencing my ability to compel by the written word. My first lesson in Literature was to bring myself down a level. I used to have an opinion, and write it, never citing or backing it up. My teachers taught me to incorporate others opinions into my own, explaining that until there is a credit to my name, no one is concerned about my opinion without someone credible backing it up. I took that knowledge and used it, learning to be an aggressive researcher, never resting until I have exhausted all sources.

Writing can be very frustrating; laying your ideas out on paper so that others can grasp the concept you are trying to convey is a very difficult task. In Writing 101 I have learned how to formulate good theses that are arguable and also how to validate articles that have to do with my topic. The most important element of a paper is the thesis statement. It captures the reader's attention and tells them what the essay is about. Having a well-structured thesis along with evidence to support that thesis are the main ingredients to a well-written essay. I have also learned how important it is to research an author’s background to ensure their credibility. This is a very important step in writing because today we can find information on a topic, however, it is not valid. In the writing process of assignment 4, I found that 2 things are really useful. Firstly, when I have no idea about the topic, it is good to look through materials given. Secondly, how to search for sources and give credit to them.
From all the things that I have covered, none of them were as trying as the inevitable research paper. I was worried about the final product and the grade I would receive because I have not had much luck with writing research papers in the past. I find them to be too tedious when having to cite research and quotations that I often did it incorrectly. My works cited page was often messy and unorganized and I could never find enough things to say about my topic in order to fulfill the designated word quota. This time around, I felt a little more confident because I had an outlined guide found in my “Common Sense” text that helped me overcome my worry about the specifics of citing and quoting as well as the organization of my works cited page....
From the beginning of the course, I read each unit and prepared my posting for that week. I tried to post it before the weekend, so my peers have enough time to read and respond to it. I engaged in each week discussion by commenting on my group posting also responded to their feedback. Unit 01: I watched the video about Newt Gringrich said adolescence is a failed cultural model, and young people need to shift more quickly from childhood to adulthood. I wrote down about my reaction to the video and my disagreement. Unit 02 activity I used the library’s online search resources, and I found an article on a topic related to adolescence which I picked the study research about Does proper nutrition = good behavior? Does diet affect the young adult criminal behavior? I explained how the research conducted Who were the participants and how they have selected the study? I also Commented objectively on the case study. Unit 03: I watched Mr. Peter Benson's video about “Sparks” and answered the question about the distinction between the internal and external assets. I also commented on parent’s role in identifying and nourishing their teenager’s spark and helping them to find their way by doing what they love to do. Unit 04: systemic assessment for writing the fit circle for the first attempt I wrote about achieving High self-esteem and for the second attempt I wrote about Academic Success in Immigrant Students and the systemic factors.
