The problems with technology is the countless hours we give in to our electronics.
According to Edelmandigital in 2010, studies show that over 43% of online Americans are addicted to social networking.
In addition, from the article Atelier in 2009, it is estimated that the average American spends 8 ½ hours a day staring into screens. For example, Americans spends 142.5 minutes daily moreover, it is toppled by T.V’s with a whopping 353.1 minutes just staring at a screen.
Additionally from the same article Atelier in 2009, commented that the biggest computer usage are those between 35 and 44, who spends a half-hour more than any other group in front of the computer, 199.3 minutes.
The other problem with technology addiction is the side effects of depending our electronics constantly.

Socialize with people near you instead of being digested onto a screen.
Engage in face-to-face conversation B. Being active in life instead of looking at a screen.
Pick outdoor activities over technologies in order to sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Participate in sports or clubs so you wouldn’t have the urge of checking your phone n a daily bases.
Learn something new while you 're at it because doing the same thing over and over again is to repetitive and exploring new techniques will help you forget about your phone. C. Having a better life after disconnecting with technology.
We will have a strong and healthy body by giving it’s rightful nutrients from breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We’ll having a better sleeping habit if we just turn off our phone and have the required 8 hours of sleep to carry on throughout the day.
Lastly, the other solution in minimizing our technology usage is, we’ll be able to finish the task at hand.

Social networks, like Facebook or You Tube can keep someone updated with world events and even local events. It has become part of everyday life in which people can’t live without. But what lies beneath is the evil of how addictive technology can be. The above chart demonstrates that almost 60% of students use electronics more than two hours a day. This shows us that technology can be addictive. Jonathan Mandell’s article Are gadgets, and the Internet, actually addictive, recalls a time in April 2007 when BlackBerry users could not send or receive emails for 11 hours because of a glitch in the system. Many people reported this as a natural disaster (Mandell, 2007). People are relying on technology so much, that it is becoming a major problem in our society when it becomes temporary unavailable. Being able to plan your whole day on your smart phone and lock your front door to your house at the same time contributes to society laziness and dependency on technology. On the chart picture below I surveyed fellow ECPI Students on the question does technology make us lazy and or smatter and this was the results. From this pie chart it’s clearly shown that more than half of the students at ECPI agree that technology is making people lazy. In Greg Beato’s article “Internet Addiction” originally published in august, september 2010 in to Reason magazine he argues that internet addiction is a problem in our society today. Internet addiction should be reported in the Diagnostic and statistic manual of mental disorder (DSM). It is a huge problem, he also says that internet is like narcotic drugs and very addicting. He states that if ones use Google for few minutes only it leads us to spend more than a few minutes on the internet and it turns in to spending hours. Beato refers that University of Maryland did a group study for 24 hour and all the students went crazy without their phones and iPods, one girl admitted that she is an addict. The students were anxious and miserable. He also says that one kid killed his parents because they took away his Xbox. Internet also leads to death of people, therefore it is a problem and we should put it on to the DSM.
Nutrition and fitness play two of the most important roles in human health, and it is not difficult to understand some of the consequences for ignoring their significance. Ignoring proper nutritional and fitness habits can lead to extreme health risks such as obesity, most of which will eventually cause serious health issues up to and including death. To decrease these serious health risks and promote favorable personal health, one should incorporate positive nutritional and fitness habits. The food that we put into our bodies is one of the most vital aspects of promoting good health because it acts as our personal fuel. If the food we consume contains mostly empty calories and few nutrients, our bodies’ performance levels will be far less than standard.
One thousand six hundred and eighteen minutes. One thousand six hundred and eighteen was spent by me, on my computer, in three days. That seems to be a lot of time when you think about it, probably just about twenty seven hours. How could all that time be spent at as single machine like a PC. One of the best features of the PC is that you can use many different media forms at one time. I use my PC for communication with my boyfriend who goes to SUNY Albany, to check my email for letters of annoyance from my parents, and to provide me with entertainment. Sometime i also use it for work, but that doesn’t happen to frequently. The best part about that though is that i can do all those things all at the same time. Usually i turn my PC on when i wake up and off when i go to bed. My computer saves me time and money and makes my life so much happier.
...this dependent and addicted to technology can be very bad for us due to how clueless and lost we would be if it all stopped working or if it disappeared. We need to understand the difference between what’s truly helping us and what’s really hurting us in the long run when it comes to technology.

Technology addiction is almost similar to drug addiction. Technology is useful in many ways. Using computer, internet, cellphone, television etc. make peoples’ life easier and comfortable. Young people are the most user of it. They cannot think of a single day without use technical device. Tara Parker-Pope is an author of books on health topics and a columnist for the New York Times. In her article , she expressed that, “The International Center for Media and the Public Agenda at the University of Maryland asked 200 students to refrain from using electronic media for a day. The reports from students after the study suggest that giving up technology cold turkey not only makes life logistically difficult, but also changes our ability to connect with others.” ( Parker-Pope, “An Ugly Toll of Technology: Inpatients”). Her point is that, for the young generation it is quite impossible to give up from becoming addict...
