CREATIVE THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING

Creativity and problem solving: “ the mental and social process used to generate ideas, concepts and associations that lead to the exploitation of new ideas” Creativity in the workplace can be integrating by forcing employees to think in new ways to solve traditional problems. Employees must be encouraged to think for themselves and not “group think” has this promotes better solutions to arise and many solutions as each employee or team member will have the opportunity to formulate a solution.
Many techniques can also be used as a creative problem solving ways. Techniques that can be used are The Pros and Cons chart which aims at weighing the pros of a solution against the cons of a solution. The Delphi …show more content…

The interns had to use their individual skills of problem solving as well as programming skills, which allowed them to complete the challenge.
In the film, the team is able to brainstorm solutions to their challenges together which allows for the team to formulate a solution that involves every team member’s input. There are two types of conflict, functional conflict and dysfunctional conflict. Functional conflict is non aggressive and is a positive way to finding new ideas and new solutions to challenges. Dysfunctional conflict is an aggressive form of conflict, which can lead to violence, and lack of productivity. Conflict can be caused by many factors, namely: Change, inclusivity, lack or poor communication, resource allocation, personalities and emotions, values and ethics and inner conflict. Many tools can be used to solve conflict. Negotiation, smoothing, forcing, avoidance or the method of compromise can be used.

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN “THE INTERNSHIP”
The competitors in the film portrayed signs of inner conflict, Graham Hawtrey (Max Mingella) towards the end was jealous of Billy and Nick’s achievements. This caused conflict within his team.
There was also conflict in Billy and Nick’s team at the start of the Internship. Two of the members had an argument due to their differing personalities and emotions, though this matter was solved using the smoothing process, which in turn solved the matter
