No matter what industry you are in, each and every type of job has one thing in common, in order to be successful you need to show professionalism. Wearing a nice dress or carrying a case does not mean professionalism, rather, it means managing oneself with honesty, accountability, and excellence. A positive working atmosphere stimulates productivity, effectiveness, presentation, and teamwork. But, in spite of the effort of maintaining the working atmosphere conducive and positive, there are still employees who are oblivious of their ways and behaviors in the workplace. Their unprofessional behavior begins to interfere with other workers’ performance and worst; it can end ideal relationships put-up by employers and employees. Any means or behavior that harmfully affects the best performance of teams is considered to be unprofessional. Some of the instances that shows unprofessionalism that we have encountered in our daily lives are identified by these behaviors; missing the deadlines often, it is indeed very unprofessional for us to miss and forget about deadlines every so often. Overlooked deadlines are at times a result of poor groundwork and poor assessment of time. This unprofessional manner needs to be addressed as much as possible before these produces additional severe destructive impacts and conclusions. Another unprofessional behavior is withholding of information. One is identified as unprofessional if he do not want to disclose conflicts and refuse information that is important to the effective operational of teams or organizations. Being bad-mannered: this is also an unprofessional behavior usually witnessed in workplaces. You are considered to be disrespectful if you are likely to do things and dealings without prior notice from your superior. Respect is an important component in beginning strong and long lasting connection in the workplace. Another instance is passing the blame to others; as soon as you commit errors or you failed to do your job, it is unprofessional to put the blame on other people not unless you have concrete proofs for your accusations. In this scenario, Margaret is a newly hired medical assistant for this very busy medical practice. Margaret had good intentions with wanting to leave a good impression. However, she should have thought more about patient care and her ability to perform a procedure on her own. Fortunately, even though the office seemed to need the extra help. For me, right professionals have several important features that can be applied in any company.
