British scientist, Lord Kelvin, said:
"When you measure what you are speaking about and express it in numbers, you know something about it, but when you cannot (or do not) measure it, when you cannot (or do not) express it in numbers, then your knowledge is of a meagre and unsatisfactory kind."
Measure is a number or quantity that records a directly observable value or performance. It only shows the existing calculations but helps doing future calculations about particular object. Keeping track of measures eventually leads to idea of growth. Mostly the purpose to measure any given quantity is to communicate or record that information.
A process is recurring, an on-going and systemic series of operation or actions where an input is transferred into desired output or product. Process improvement is tools or techniques for controlling and enhancing the effectiveness of the process to get better quality output. For management a process is seen as steps and decisions involved in the way work is achieved. (Orau, V.206)
“You cannot improve what you cannot measure.” – W. Edwards Deming
The idea behind measure is improvement. Organisations measure the growth by its overall performance in terms of customer satisfaction, its ability to adapt the turbulent situations, product or service quality, profit ratio etc. Track of performance helps business to take corrective steps well in time when business is facing downtime. It opens the door for continuous improvement. For example athletics, agriculture needs continuous improvement, which can be achieved only when measures are tracked. It is generally accepted that measurement of performance is the first step toward quality improvement. And quality measurement leads to quality improvement. Th...

This feedback becomes the factor for measurement then. Measurement is key factor for business improvement as this helps devising policies and strategy to produce products or service, that are based on conformance to customer’s requirement at most economical price possible to deliver value based, customer satisfied products and services. It is also important to consider the overheads like cost and time evaluating these process, its subjectiveness to the business, training within organization, and applicability and time and cost required to develop and maintain products based on published standards in market like ISO 9000 in implementing quality management methodologies like TQM, BPR Lean synchronization, Six Sigma etc.
3. Functionality – it can measure the performance of a group such as purchasing or services or manufacturing. 4. Activity/Individual metrics – metrics that are specific to a person or activity (Vickery 1999).

Process philosophy is known as the idea that everything is changing. Over the years, process philosophy has changed the way humans exist and go about their day to day lives. In order to fully grasp the concept of process philosophy we will first take a closer look at process philosophy, as a whole, its history, and the ideas behind this particular philosophy. Then we will discuss the effects process philosophy has had on marriage and family, followed by a brief commentary.
Monitoring and evaluation are integral parts of management and provide a link between planning and implementation. While monitoring focuses on the activities and outputs, evaluation focuses on the outcome and goals. Monitoring focuses on inputs and outputs and is the continuous process of gathering information to measure against the goals and objectives. Evaluation, like monitoring, is a continuous process. Evaluation provides feedback on whether plans have been met and the reasons for success or failure. Evaluation should highlight shortcomings so they can be identified and corrected. It should provide direction for future plans. It is important to monitor and assess the on-going performance of teams and individuals, in order to evaluate the progress towards agreed objectives. Monitoring mostly involves keeping track of what is going on. By undertaking this regularly, we have the opportunity to make changes and adjustments, to ensure that any areas of concern are addressed.
I chose this article because I have been involved in process improvement projects that were quite successful. However, upon examination of the same company several years later the process improvement projects had faded away, and bad habits had returned.
These measure help the leaders to communicate effectively with their staff and to achieve the goals of five pillars and the areas that leader need assistance or coaching and to see how leader are doing when it comes to achieving goals and leaders start focus on the goal to provide quality of care to residents. Before scrutinizing Honda overall performance, we surely need to emphasize the theory of performance measurement. In fact, the performance measurement as a miscellaneous area under discussion sum up functional backgrounds as accounting investigations, running financial, economic operations, vending and marketing supervision all under a whole operation in the field (Thompson, 2013, p 36). In this logic, business performance measurement results mesmerizing sumptuousness intricate situations to gauge, and conjecture. A sizeable obstacle stems from the fact that companies focus more energy to financial perspective and explores less distinctive roles of measurement. Surely, we argue implicitly the role of financial and accounting community provide a tool for existing and future performance measurements. Nevertheless, the means of motivation and medias information may provide additional contribution to business performance (Hugh, 2002, pp 23-26).
‘If you can’t measure it, you can’t management it’, [Dan vesset and Brian, M. 2009]. Performance management is concerned with the measurement of results and with studying progress to achieving objectives base on the results. Managing performance can tell you what you’re doing well in, and also reveal areas where you need to make adjustments. Measuring performance tells you how far you’ve gone achieving your ultimate
Product designing, in this stage for continuous quality improvement the parameters of the design gets changed and the level of tolerance gets altered. This is very difficult for the manufacturing companies in implementation stage.
Performance management is a management tool used to value, monitor and measure a company’s strategies that ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of its product delivery. This management tool does not focus on the organisation and on its employees as well as stakeholders. It is a continuous process that entails that managers make sure that organisational and employee values are corresponding (Aguinis, 2005,p.1/2-1/5). Performance Management brings about the competencies in the employees, increases self-esteem by giving feedback to employees, there is a low number of lawsuits because it helps understand the company better (eThekwini Municipality, 2008,p.10-11). According to Pride, Hughes and Kapoor (2011, p.288) performance management creates motivation for employees; one theory of motivation is of Expectancy, which stipulates that employees satisfaction is driven by expectations of what an organisation will offer in return.
Performance management is a useful and powerful tool that can be used by managers to identify what areas of their organisation they need to improve to increase the organisation’s overall performance. The idea of a balanced scorecard enforces a sensible distribution of resources and effort across all aspect of performance an organisation is, or should be, concerned with.
Service Quality: This dimension is the last and final factor of the value it appears when the customer has made up his mind to purchase a product or service. Service quality decides the relationship between the customer and the store.
“The truth is never simple. It’s only in the Western world that you think knowledge is something you can acquire quickly and easily. It takes time. The truth never hurries.”
Process Management can be defined as a concept which helps integrate performance excellence and quality into the strategic management of organizations. Process management includes activities such as defining a process, establishing responsibilities, evaluating process performance and also identifying opportunities for improvement. Innovation, on the other hand, can be defined as the conversion of knowledge and ideas into new or improved products, processes or services to gain competitive advantage. After reading the first article it is clear that it focuses mainly on three different programs that are associated with process management. These three processes are listed as TQM, ISO 9000, and Six Sigma.
