I. LITERATURE SURVEY Privacy Preserving Data Mining (PPDM) was proposed by D. Agrawal and C. C. Agrawal [1] and by Y. Lindell and B. Pinkas [5] simultaneously. To address this problem, researchers have since proposed various solutions that fall into two broad categories based on the level of privacy protection they provide. The first category of the Secure Multiparty Computation (SMC) approach provides the strongest level of privacy; it enables mutually distrustful entities to mine their collective data without revealing anything except for what can be inferred from an entity’s own input and the output of the mining operation alone by Y. Lindell and B. Pinkas in [5], J. Vaidya and C.W.Clifton in [6]. In principle, any data mining algorithm can be implemented by using generic algorithms of SMC by O.Goldreich in [7].However, these algorithms are extraordinarily expensive in practice, and impractical for real use. To avoid the high computational cost, various solutions those are more efficient than generic SMC algorithms have been proposed for specific mining tasks. Solutions to build decision trees over the horizontally partitioned data were proposed by Y. Lindell and B. Pinkas in [5]. For vertically partitioned data, algorithms have been proposed to address the association rule mining by J. Vaidya and C.W.Clifton in [6], k-means clustering by J. Vaidya and C. Clifton in[8], and frequent pattern mining problems by A.W.C. Fu, R.C.W. Wong, and K. Wang in [9]. The work of by B. Bhattacharjee, N. Abe, K. Goldman, B. Zadrozny, V.R. Chillakuru, M.del Carpio, and C. Apte in [10] uses a secure coprocessor for privacy preserving collaborative data mining and analysis. The second category of the partial information hiding approach trades pr... ... middle of paper ... ... that the encoding system by W. K. Wong, D. W. Cheung, E. Hung, B. Kao, and N. Mamoulis in [24] can be broken without using context-specific information. The success of the attacks in [25] mainly relies on the existence of unique, common, and fake items, defined by W. K. Wong, D. W. Cheung, E. Hung, B. Kao, and N. Mamoulis in [24]; our scheme does not create any such items, and the attacks by Y. Lindell and B. Pinkas in [5] are not applicable to our scheme. Tai et al. [9] assumed the attacker knows exact frequency of single items, similarly to us.
When working practitioners must not only protect the children they work with when in the school setting and off site, but also themselves. Whether in school or off-site the school safeguarding policy should be referred to, to give guidance and adhered to at all times.
The internet and all technological advances give us easier communication and increase productivity, however, at what cost? The loss of one's privacy. It is okay only when it is violated for one's own protection. There are different reason, good and bad, for the loss in privacy. In 1984 the characters don't have privacy due to big brother always watching,the NSA does more snooping than securing, social media does more than connect friends, and technological advances make our lives easier.
Privacy postulates the reservation of a private space for the individual, described as the right to be let alone. The concept is founded on the autonomy of the individual. The ability of an individual to make choices lies at the core of the human personality. The Supreme Court protected the right to privacy of prostitute. The autonomy of the individual is associated over matters which can be kept private. These are concerns over which there is a legitimate expectation of privacy. Privacy has both a normative and descriptive function. At a normative level privacy sub-serves those eternal values upon which the guarantees of life, liberty and freedom are founded. Scrolling through my Facebook feed on my iPhone, casually looking at my friend’s pictures statuses and updates, I came across a video with an amusing title. I tapped the play button expecting the video to load. Instead, I was redirected to an app asking permission to access my “public information, pictures and more.” I then realized; what I considered to be “private information” was not private anymore. As society has progressed, there have been many new innovative and unbelievable developments in almost all aspects of life that have ultimately created an impact. More specifically, advancements in technology have rather had a much larger and intense impact on society as it continues to grow. Technology has allowed for many great and useful applications that has made life much easier and convenient. However, many aspects of technology have given a rise to a number of social and ethical issues, causing numerous debates and concerns. One of the more prominent concerns deals with the issue of privacy rights.
Confidentiality is defined as the protection of personal information. It means keeping a client’s information between the health care providers and the client. Every single patient has the right to privacy regarding their personal information from being released to anyone outside of their health care providers. Health care providers have a legal and ethical responsibility to protect all information regarding patients by not disclosing their information to anyone without their written consent from the patient.
Individual privacy and confidentiality play a role in both research and clinical health care settings. In each instance, standards and expectations put in place by researchers and health care practitioners to follow to protect patients and research participants while interacting with them. The evolving health care system and convergence of research and treatment protocols to create learning health care systems (LHCS) are creating the need to look at patient confidentiality and privacy differently to protect them and their information.
Along with Privacy and security comes the issue of terrorism, Constitutional rights, and Prisoners of War (POW). The privacy vs security debate has two sides to it. Many think that it has influenced governmental interaction with citizens. Sometimes the law focuses on the wrong interests. Just as security cameras are made for thief’s, there come along violations within a person’s workspace or personal life. Privacy emerged early on including Jewish and Roman laws safeguarding against surveillance. Once populations began to grow citizens around the world started filing complaints about noise and unlawful search and seizures. Security and Privacy become an internationally growing issue that affected the world. Security is known as a sort of Independence from danger. Privacy is a freedom from the Undesirable. “He noticed that the needle on his gas gauge was getting low and decides to pull over. The founders saw it coming and implanted laws against home invasions based on national security or to protect others. The fourth amendment in the Bill of Rights is one plan of action that the founding fathers implemented into the United States Constitution to give people a sense of privacy from law enforcement. Also the Fifth Amendment placed a specific procedure on how police go about arresting an individual. ...
Privacy exist wherever personal information or other sensitive information is collected, stored, used, and finally destroyed or deleted – in digital form or otherwise. The challenge of data privacy is to use data while safe-guarding individual's privacy preferences and their personally identifiable information. The fields of computer security, data security, and information security design and utilize software, hardware, and human resources to address this issue.
I think there is a right to privacy. What privacy means is “the right to be left alone, or freedom from interference or intrusion” (IAPP,1). Every American citizen has the right to privacy whether it be privacy in their homes, the words in their emails, or daily activities. But not only do the American people have the right to privacy from other citizens, we also have the right to privacy from the government. If the government can keep their conversations, actions and secrets under lock and key then Americans can as well. But unfortunately, the Constitution does not explicitly say anything about “privacy” for the American people, it is left for open interpretation in multiple amendments. The main amendment that screams “privacy” is the fourth amendment.
Privacy and Security are very important aspects in regards to computer databases and keeping them safe. Data Privacy is a way to keep your information secure, and keeping your information secure means it’s going to be kept private (vice versa). Information and data privacy is the relationship between gathering and classifying data and technologies while at the same time keeping them private in the context of the organization. While Computer security and IT security are defined as the means of security and how they translate to computers, their network infrastructures, and the data encompassing the databases that store this data and making sure they are kept safe and classified.
