Throughout this article the author states how President Trump has been handling his new presidency. Trump has made many claims in his speeches that aren't true nor accurate. These claims include having a record high murder rate in 47 years. This is not an accurate claim because in 2015 the crime rate was 4.9 people per 100,000 compared to murder rates in the 1980s and 1990s at an 8 to 10 people per 100,000. Trump has been fact checked many times about his allegations yet he does not seem to make a difference in his approach. Many people had high hopes for Trump as president but he has been off to a rough start so far. This issue may be foreshadowing how the rest of his presidency is going to be and i am worried that if he keeps not having
any facts to back up his claims he could get the united states in some serious trouble with other countries. This event could affect me many ways. It affects me so much because he has great power within the united states and the world. If Trump continues to make false accusations and makes one about another country he could start a war. This could affect me because if we go to war the united states could become a war zone and not a safe place. There is author bias in the article, you can detect this by sensing the tone of the author and their word choice. This event is significant because it involves the united states president. The president of the United States is a very important role in politics and the country and with the power comes a lot of responsibility. This event shows that Trump might not have the ability to lead this country. This event is part of a much larger issue. This is because having a president that makes claims without factual evidence to support them could lead to international problems or arguments. As one can see Trump is being tested by every move he makes as president and he might not pass the test.

Throughout George W. Bush's political career he has implored the use of Aristotle's tripod, which we like to call it. This tripod is a rhetoric which implies that persuasion relies on three things, which are ethos, pathos, and logos. Logos is devoted solely to logic and reason. While on the other hand, pathos deals with attitudes and beliefs. Perhaps the most important one which pertains to George W. Bush is something called ethos, that is to say the branch of the tripod which deals with the personal strengths of the speaker and most importantly his character. Throughout his political journey he has showed the use of pathos, logos, and ethos time and time again, but the one of which he is commonly known for is ethos. The instances in which he has demonstrated them are countless, but I will recall but three. The first event took place on the day of September 14, 2001 at 'Ground Zero', three days after the attack of the World Trade Centers. The third instance was on September 20, 2001 during his Address to a Joint Session of Congress. Lastly, was the State of the Union Address in Washington D.C. Which was held on January 29, 2002.

Donald Trump has been a bad influence to the United States that doesn’t deserve to be president. The entire thing he has done during his running doesn’t show that is able to be president. Trump is an arrogant person that doesn’t deserve to be president and doesn’t deserve to be able to run a country; he is acting like a child he is not mature to run for
They say more murders will be committed, but the gun rate is the highest it has ever been in 1991 and since then in 2012 murder rate has decreased to 49%, a 52% drop(Ten Reasons Why States Should Reject “Assault Rifle” and “Large” Magazine Bans). Statistics say that even though bans are put in place to reduce crime it doesn’t. In another article it states that California banned assault rifles in 1989 and the murder rate increased every year and over the course of five years it increased 26%. Two-thirds of the murders today committed with firearms, but of those two-thirds, 69% are committed with handguns not rifles(Banning ‘Assault Weapons’ Is Not the Answer).
As a result of extreme hard work and perseverance followed by an unmatchable drive to succeed, Donald J. Trump has earned the right to be known as a multi-billionaire, real estate icon, and President of the United States of America. Reflecting on his life, he has faced many challenges and overcame them all. To understand how he rose to success and his journey to the top of the kingpin, it is important to recognize how he saw the American dream and pursued it. Today, many recognize him as the president, but very few can fully grasp all that he has done in his life. From his start as a real estate mogul, to his impact on the media, there are many questions as to how he became so recognizable today.
...ancial Times stating, “The bottom line here is that Americans don't believe in President Obama's leadership. He has to find some way between now and November of demonstrating that he is a leader who can command confidence and, short of a 9/11 event or an Oklahoma City bombing, I can't think of how he could do that.” When the president is popular and integrity of the Executive branch is high, the President can lead public opinion on specific issues. When the factors are low, generating support can be a challenge to overcome and they may engage in strategies (major policy speeches, bold policy initiatives, raising public awareness on national security) to increase popularity, competence, and prestige. We see many of these strategies now as the President campaigns for a second term and also in his running mates as they try and sway public opinion during their bus tours.
The article “Guns are killing high school kids across America at alarming rates” begin by sharing a video of a message from a senior, Sam Zeif, who was a survivor of the Florida school shooting. In the video Sam started off by explaining how the emotions that was felt during the shooting, how regretful and worrisome Sam was for family members and friends. Then Sam continued with explaining the fear that tagged along with Sam and Sam’s friends after the school shooting, how unsafe Sam felt when going back to school or walking down a street. Then Sam shared a personal experience of seeing a man purchasing a deadly weapon with an expired ID in just five minutes. With the support of Sam’s deceased friend, who was killed during the school shooting,
67. Politicians, responding to the nations fear of crime, have attempted to outdo each other in being “tougher of crime”. This attention toward our nations fear of crime has resulted in the addition of police officers, the building of more prisons, extending the death penalty to cover sixty federal offenses, and mandating longer sentences. The homicide rate in the United States was more than twice the homicide rate in Canada and many times that in other countries. However, the victimization rates for assault and robbery were lower for Americans than for Canadians, Australians, and Spaniards. Outbreaks of violence have occurred throughout history starting with the post-Civil War era. This was eventually followed by organized crime and an increase in the murder rate throughout the 1930’s. During the 1950’s crime rates decreased only to increase once again in the 1980’s. Today crime rates are down whether Americans choose to accept this or not. Murder rates are well below the record setting 1930’s and violent crime has decreased 33 % since 1993.
Knowing that kids will be safe at school, mom and dad will be safe at work, is something all Americans should be able to feel. I think she aimed the article to people who are in their mid-twenties and up. The purpose of her article is to educate the public on mass shootings, and how in the past few years, the number of mass shootings has gone way up. In 2011 to 2014, the number of mass shootings has nearly tripled, according to Harvard School of Public Health. It is insane to think that in 29 years, there were 90 mass shootings and in the past 4 years, it is around 270 mass shootings. Copycats are also a huge phenomenon in the U.S. since guns are more accessible than other countries, stated by Lankford. She is also trying to raise awareness on the problem with mass shootings, and I feel like she has done a nice job on including the facts and support that her article needs. The same goes for Castillo, because he adds the shooters twitter account into the article to show that he was on a mission to kill innocent people. This is not an example of a mass shooting, but it is a good example to help show that anyone can do what he
The article, “The World Is Not Falling Apart” by Steven Pinker and Andrew Mack published by Slate, reminds the world not to focus on the media’s perception of our corrupt world, but rather look closely and evaluate what true measures of violence unfolding each day. Humans’ perception of the world is based off of the media, which states the earth is in a process of deteriorating. However, if one focuses on the trend lines instead of the headline, one would figure out that the world has never been in such a peaceful era. In the article, Bill Clinton was recorded stating to “follow the trend lines, not the headlines”, this means to take breakdown what information is being presented to the world each day and simplify it to our own judgment (para. 6). This article is intended to suggest that people need to wake up from their lethargic routines, and not rely on unreliable sources that only concentrate on the major crimes,
Donald Trump is not only one of the world’s richest men, but one of its most recognizable. Despite a privileged upbringing, he did not inherit anything, and went on to fame and fortune thanks to his business accomplishments and natural instincts.
Obama said, “ More than 900 of our fellow Americans have reportedly died at the end of a gun --- 900 in the past month.” This is a scary number. Using these kinds of statements makes his argument stronger and also makes it seem more logical if they make it harder for people to get guns. Obama said, “ Licensed gun dealers to run background checks, and over the last 14 years that’s kept 1.5 million of the wrong people from getting their hands on a gun.” He showed that we are making progress. This would make people feel more confident that this method would work. He also added “But it’s hard to enforce that law, when as many as 40% of all gun purchases are conducted without a background check.” In here I think Obama suggests that some people with mental disorders and crooks with criminal records or are ineligible to obtain a gun due to psychological disorders. A lot of Americans agreed with Obama on the universal background check. Obama stated, “An overwhelming majority of Americans agree with us on the need for universal background checks, including more than 70% of the National Rifle Association‘s members according to one survey. So there’s no reason we can’t do this.” This is really interesting as owners of the National Rifle Association are the main reason why these laws are hard to pass. They have sponsored most Congress members when they were just elected Congress members. But the members of that
In a peer reviewed article called, "The Impact Of Gun Control And Gun Ownership Levels On Violence Rates" it explains how there is no evidence that the availability of guns has a positive effect on violent crime rates. In fact, it says the exact opposite. The article says that the evidence from better studies have largely been negative meaning that the availability of guns has no effect on violent crime. Therefore, there is no reason to propose stricter laws on gun control because it is not effecting violent crime anyways. If they want to make any proposals they need to estimate what the real problem is behind the violent crimes and the answer is the people. We need to evaluate who should and should not own a gun because guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
An admirable quality in a leader, I feel, is humility. By humility, I don’t mean “thinking less of yourself” or meekness. In this context, I feel the president should see himself as an equal among his constituents and not to let his pride get in the way of the decisions he makes. Humility is the ability to listen before acting and make compromises. Consistency is fine but I don’t think the fact that someone changes their ideas about policies should be considered a detriment to their
