Preparing for and Having a Baby
There are many different areas to consider when preparing for and having a newborn. Whether the pregnancy was planned or unplanned or the couple is married or not, a newborn baby brings new responsibilities. Having a baby also forces people to make adjustments both financially and within the family. Parents also express concerns and expectations when having a newborn comma especially when it is their first; including what roles each parent and family member should play, how much confidence they have in their parenting skills, and how much financial strain would be placed on the family once the newborn has arrived. The newest issue in today’s society is the fact that many women are delaying childbirth and having more children in their later years of life.
This paper will examine three of the areas associated with planning a newborn child, including single parenting, concerns and expectations parents have when planning for and having a child, and financial issues that mothers face when planning a pregnancy. (Specify if you are talking about single moms or parents/couples, if talking about all of them you might want to consider narrowing your research.)

“Today, about one in every three U.S. births occurs outside of marriage. The proportion of births to unmarried women has risen monotonically over time, and attitudes toward non - marital fertility have become progressively more tolerant” (Musick, 2002, p. 915). Sometimes these births are planned and at other times they are not. “Dramatic increases in cohabitation and associated delays in marriage have changed the composition and character of non-marital births. Unmarried mothers now tend to be older, to have other children, and to be living with a partner at the time of their child’s birth” (Musick, 2002, p. 915). What significance does this have to your research? What does it prove? Why did you include it?
The article that I researched regarding this area explores the reasons why women may be taking the steps to start a family without marriage, whether these pregnancies are planned or unplanned. The study was conducted using a couple of different methods including the National Survey of Family Growth and a Discrete-Time Hazard Model. “The National Survey of Family Growth is a periodic, nationally representative fertility survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics.
This reading reminded me about how Vygotsky’s theory is mostly based on the interactions and influences help children to learn. I really do believe this theory is very accurate, because students can learn from each other. If a teacher is having trouble explaining a complex topic to a student, another student can explain it in more relatable way. Also, I was fascinated when I read about what cultural tools, were and how they related to Vygotsky’s beliefs. Learning about what cultural tools were, helped me to broaden my understanding of how crucial cultural tools are to student’s learning process. Also, the chapter did a great job of elaborating on how these tools can help to advance and grow in the understanding of student’s thinking process. Another aspect of this reading that interested me was the elaboration on private speech and the Zone of Proximal Development. Each of the definitions displayed help me to advance my own thinking on what it was and how it is used in regards to the education of students. The description of what private speech and how it is basically the inner narration of their thinking process helped me to understand how this aspect can help with students learning. Also, the Zone of Proximal Development helped me to make a connection to both what is and how it relates to private speech as well. The Zone of proximal development plays a crucial role in the

This would lead him to a fantasy about what life would have been life back in Africa based on freedom. Equiano longed for freedom and suffered a traumatic experience (being enslaved) at a young age which may lead him to romanticize a different life. He believed that he would find his paradise in Africa. This can lead to a more favorable and positive view of Africa. He paints Africa as a place free of harm making him an unreliable source. By juxtaposing his freedom in Africa with his captivity in the colonies; he creates a biased image of his respective homeland. His reliability is questioned because he has no previous knowledge about life in Africa and only knows how it is described to him. The third author’s outlook lead more towards providing counseling as a direction for the couple’s situation. They believe that its necessary to seek outside help to provide guidance on handling this matter. Olaudah Equiano’s spiritual autobiography follows him across his remarkable journey. His narrative follows his spiritual and physical period of enslavement, conversion to Christianity and ultimate escape from the life as a slave. Also, it succeeds with a spiritual rebirth and ultimately, his physical freedom and independence. Equiano finally gains his liberty and begins to develop his character as he converts his religion and becomes a faithful man. Equiano immerses himself and is allowed to blend into Western society.
In Wade F. Horn’s article “Promoting Marriage as a Means of Promoting Fatherhood,” Horn discusses how having a child and being married is better for children because the father is more involved in the child’s life. Kathryn Edin and Maria Kefalas’s “Unmarried with Children,” on the other hand, takes the reader through Jen’s story about getting pregnant at a young age and deciding not to marry the father of her son. While both sources make appeals to emotion, reason, and character, Edin and Kefalas’s article makes more successful appeals and thus is the stronger argument.
Discuss the differences between the terms interview and interrogation. Interviewing is talking to people, who are not suspects in a crime but who knows something and knows who is involved in the crime. Also getting their information, and asking questions to them, and knowing when to translate or interpret. The main people involved when getting information at a crime scene is the witnesses, criminal and the accuser (Orthman, Hess, 2013). Interrogation questioning of the suspects, once the suspect is known of their identity and where they reside the person who is the participant of the crime could make a statement, confession, refusal, corroborated with self-supporting documentation that could yield a guilty allegation or it could gather a determining guilt (Orthman, Hess, 2013).
Over the years the way law enforcement officers have been able to investigate cases has been drastically changed over the years. Investigations used to be a very prying, and vindictive matter. Now it is very delicate. Since the Miranda case, law enforcement has been very open and aware of defendants’ rights.
In the Criminal Justice system, the main goal is justice or in other words, a fair consequence to match a criminal action. An obvious, yet unmentioned underlying goal is to prevent injustice. Many times, justice prevails, and this is why our system prevails today. However, when justice fails, it is key to look at the information offered in order to better the system and to repay those that have been failed by it. One area that has shown itself as flawed is the area of interrogations though many other areas will be presented throughout this paper as well. By examining five cases involving questionable interrogation and showing other system flaws, I will enlighten others as to how our justice system handles its flaws, and hopefully I will provide motivation for further improvement.
His religious conversion is also a key component within his narrative that’s sets the stage for is beliefs and his association as a religious individual to many of the readers he is trying to persuade. He identifies himself as a true Christian who places his utmost faith in the lord. He does this so much to the extent that he believes his path in life is predetermined and whether his efforts of escaping enslavement are what the Lord wishes for him. Equiano believes himself to be a “favorite of heaven” because of the serendipity he experienced during his enslavement (page 4). On many occasions we see Equiano’s ability to look past the horrors he faced and embrace the life he is in. After being sold into slavery he had the chance to learn to read, write, and speak multiple languages. He was able to gain his freedom unlike many of the slaves during his time. In addition to his education and freedom, while under the ownership of Captain Pascal, Equiano was able to advance his knowledge of the sea and his position as a worker on multiple ships. This love for the sea is something he carried on with him for many years. Which is something I also find ironic and honorable, Equiano loved the sea and the adventure it held for him but considering the revolting carnage he had seen and experienced he still embraced his
Interviewing requires a lot of careful planning and decision making to improve the likelihood of desirable results. There are many factors that significantly influence the direction of an interview. People conducting interviews must be cognoscente of their actions as to not contaminate the interview. “An Overview of Investigative Interviewing” (1998) is a film that depicts British Police officers conducting an interview with a victim of crime. Immediately at the start of the film, the audience can see several decisions to improve the interview. The interview appears to be taking place in a quiet and secluded office. The interviewee and the officer are seated close and parallel to each other. This setting is beneficial as it removes
This model was designed for the interviewer to allow the interviewee to explain their story without being accused of something they may have not done (College of Policing, 2016). It allows them both to stay relaxed throughout the interview process, without aggression or intimidation present. Before interviewing the subject, the interviewer has the interview well planned out and knows where he is going to lead the interview. He begins to make the victim feel comfortable before allowing her to tell her story. The second stage of the interview is to engage and explain, in which the interviewer explained to victim how to interview was going to pan out. This stage gave the victim a proper layout of how things were going to go. Once the rapport was built and she told her story, the interviewer then clarified which is the third stage of this model. The interviewer gave a brief summary back to the victim of what she told him, so he clearly understood her and they could continue. Another thing the interviewer did was he made the victim draw out a layout picture of the crime she had been involved in (EBS Trust, 1998). As mentioned previously above, this recreated the scene and allowed her to visualize what had happened. The interviewer then closed out the interview by getting the victim to sign the statement and asked her if there was anyone at home that could take her to the doctor to get checked out. n the world of Vygotsky, a child was not a product of the environment, instead the child interacts with the environment by making choices, which moderates or influences the effect of the environment on the child. Lev Vygotsky stages of development were not defined by age or biology, the basis behind his theory was unerstanding social and cultural experiences of a child, and how they affect the the child's development. A philosophy of Vygotsky’s theory was the zone of proximal development (ZPD), this is the difference between what a child is able to solve on its own based on the stage of cognitive development, and what a child can learn with the help or experience of another person. Vygotsky believes the skill of knowledge comes from mastering new social situations where learning is shared with others. He also believed that experiences should be shared in social settings, and placed a large emphasis on the quality of group work within the cognitive development process. Within group work, children's language is encouraged to develop, through conversation, questioning and sharing cognitive content with their peers. Vygotsky believed that "social interaction enables the child to develop the intellectual skills needed for logical reasoning and thought." (Grossman, S. 2008) Through language and communication, children learn to evaluate the world and change their actions accordingly.
Piaget And Vygotsky are two new psychologist that forces on the influential theory of cognitive development. Cognitive development is the growth of mental abilities from early childhood to the adult age. This process can help children learn about life skills and language to have a better cognitive development. They both took roles in children, roles of people in society to develop different skills. Both theories affect education in various ways for substantial growth. In this essay, I will focus on the difference in each approach, similarities and gain the better understanding of each theory standpoint.

Furthermore, before starting any interview or interrogation you as a detective must be aware of all state and federal laws that may apply to your case as well as how the court will handle the case. Like an interrogation when conducting an interview you must first develop a rapport with the person, try to motivate them to help you, always keep them talking and always listen to how they say things as well as what they are saying. Furthermore, you must remember to never use criticism, sarcasm, or interrupt them as they are speaking.
