and when students were not following them I would ask them “what did it say on our classroom expectations sheet?” During my practicum experience I have made many lifelong connections with other teachers at LA Matheson. I would not have gotten through my practicum it was not for Manny, Preet, Annie, and Sandeep. I always knew that if I was having an off day or just needed someone to talk to I could go have a conversation with any of these teachers. I also got the opportunity to meet some of the grade eights parents twice, one time after an assembly and one time during parent and teacher conferences. Last but not least, the4 relationships that I have formed with my own students and other students in the building was a highlight for me. Many students showed that they genuinely liked to be in my classrooms, and seeing them say hello to me in the hallways always brightened up my days; even the friends of my students that I did not know would say “Hello Ms. Gill.” I believe one of my strengths throughout my PDP experience was my ability to form maintain ethical and functional working relations with my colleagues and parents and relationships of support and care with my students (Goal 4). An even or insight that I believe that had the most impact on me was the importance of scaffolding and seeing the positive affect that this could have on the students as well as on their work. The occupations that I have chosen to analyze using the three elements for this assignment are paraprofessional, what I am currently, and a teacher, what I am going to college to become. Teachers and paraprofessionals work side by side, collaborate, plan, and share many of the same experiences. However, paraprofessionals are often not treated as equals and has created some ethical judgement regarding treatment of the paraprofessionals from other teachers and administrators in the business of education. I want to use this assignment as an opportunity to distinguish the true professional using the elements designed for this course.
A walk through demonstration and rationale discussion completed the WinMed experience. When observing all three third grade classes at Centennial Elementary, only two of them were using effective scaffolding instruction. One of these third-grade teachers is also bilingual and was able to assist ELL students also in their Spanish language that was helpful for these few students. Two of the three teachers had their version of “Text talk time” a video created by the Teaching Channel. Mrs. C, one of the third-grade teachers mentioned above has what she calls, “carpet time.” With this, she will discuss the topic of the week, standards taught for the week, and classroom objective. With the first read, she will read the entire story, stopping to discuss or analyze with the class what she has read. When one of her students has a connection or clear understanding of what she is teaching they, use a hand gesture of two circles connected. Also, if a student is not grasping the concept or objective, they will give her thumbs down telling her to re-teach or explain the emphasized concept. The other part of this observation that is troubling to me is that Mrs. B, the other third-grade teacher who was not using adequate scaffolding for her ELL students also has some of the lowest achieving ELL students in reading and writing within her class. I wonder how many other teachers within Centennial Elementary are not using proper scaffolding techniques to help their ELL students succeed.
When I was young, I could be anything I wanted. A princess for a day? Done. Everything was that simple. My whole world- my whole life was the definition of an idealism. As I was exposed to more of the real world and happenings of real life, my idealistic image seemed to dwindle away. No longer did I possess the adequacy to be a princess. I could not handle the throne much deserve the authority. This analogy, I feel, is fitting for my college experience. Why? There are a few things only time can teach you and only through experience can you remember. The readings Orientation, We’re Not in High School Anymore, and Reading: How to Stay on Top of It along with the illustrations, a smooth ride and an obstacle course, further demonstrate the analogy that there is a great disparity in comparing the idealistic image to realistic happenings.
While working at the high school I was able to use some of the skills I had learned while in class such as active listening, token economy. I was able to look at things from the student’s perspective after learning about life stages and temperament.

Experts have to be aware of the child or students capabilities in specific tasks, as some tasks even with the help of a guide may be to difficult to overcome. In teaching mathematics for example, “students who have had less experience with an area, a field, or a domain will need more scaffolding than those students who have had more experience with that field or domain. They may need more sequenced supports, more attempts and more opportunities to revise to develop expertise” (Christmas et al., 2013, pp. 375). In order for students to receive the appropriate amount of support within the classroom, the scaffolding must be flexibly designed in order to meet the needs of the ‘full range’ of students.
During my work experience at , I was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage. Being in this pace course has really been an amazing experience for me. The best thing that happened to me in this pace course was that I got to work with an amazing group of people. During this pace course experience, I got a chance to grow more as a person and I also got my motivation back as well. While working my group, there were times when I wanted to give up on myself. I say this because it would be sometimes hard for me to come up with new ideas that would work for the group and our product.
