I have spent my eight week practicum at the Woodstock High School where I was an Educational Assistant (E.A.). I was expected to help students in various classes with various subjects. We (the students and I) worked on regular class assignments and projects. I also participated in some outings such as grocery shopping for culinary class, bowling for gym class and a special day of town beatification where we picked up garbage in an effort to help clean up the town.
While working at the high school I was able to use some of the skills I had learned while in class such as active listening, token economy. I was able to look at things from the student’s perspective after learning about life stages and temperament.

This class was a lot of fun. There was grocery shopping for culinary class. I had a group of four students who needed some help with reading the recipes and preparing the dishes. On Monday we would choose a healthy recipe, make a grocery list and then head to Sobey’s on Tuesdays to purchase the food. Wednesday was prep day where we would get ready to cook and eat on Thursday. As with shop class, this class was another favorite for me. On one day early on in my practicum there was a day scheduled for town clean up. On that day I had a group of students and we were given a designated area downtown to pick up and bag whatever garbage we found. Myself and my group collected and filled over ten bags of garbage. The students seemed to have a good time. Many treasures were found while clearing garbage that day like money, lost photo I.D., and gold ring. I helped students do project on social justice issues in both grade nine and ten. The students and I researched different topics and made power point projects to present to the class. The intention of this written essay is to demonstrate an understanding of my views on reflection and the issues surrounding reflective practice. It is based on nursing skills that I used during my practice placement, most importantly reflecting on the professional value of privacy and dignity.
Students learn if they can work in large groups or if they work better individually. They also learn what kind of learner they are when it comes to taking in information given to them by the teacher. Not every student is the same, and they learn that is it okay to be different and to be proud of the person they are. Students learn how to deal with conflicts and resolve the matter in a calm fashion.
This paper aims to highlight an incident in theatre where environmental pressure has the tendency to lead to human error thereby compromising the patient’s safety. To reflect and critically analyse the situation, human factors, theories, guidelines and national policies that govern a theatre environment so as to improve the practice, raise awareness and prevent adverse event thereby improving patient safety in theatres.
After, we played some fun activities like rolling down hills, which was this game where people crossed arms and then tried to have every body's arms straight. We also spotted deer. The deer were trying to hide from us when we saw them. They sprinted off faster than a cheetah when we saw them. We were able to have our lunch and then we played more fun games after that. My class went and walked all over Leroy oaks getting to see all of the nature. One guy who worked there taught us about acorns. He was hilarious, sarcastic, and was like go ahead and jump in the poison ivy. Next, we went inside a museum and did a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt was about raccoons and all the other creatures in the museum. I was not the biggest fan it but it went pretty quickly. All I had to do was look at some posters and in some drawers. Mrs. Palpant had a station where you had two rugs and you had to get across with six people on the mats and not touch the ground. It was hard to succeed because there are six people. The title of the first presentation was Practicum Experience at Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Joshua Moore is from the Kinesiology-Exercise/Fitness Management and he did his internship at Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Joshua made programs using dumbbells for his group of clients at his Internship. Other responsibilities he had was to monitor them while they exercised, check their ECGs and paperwork. He mentioned that checking their ECGs was the hardest part of the job since he was not very familiar with it from the beginning. Overall, Josh enjoyed working at a cardiac rehab center.
Up until this year, before taking the class intermediate composition, I thought I was a terrible writer. I was right. Writing isn’t something that I enjoy doing, nor am I good at. Writing is difficult for me because I’m not very good at explaining things in a professional manner, that can be easily well written. While writing you are expected to make little to no mistakes, which is not something I’m great at. I am so much better at explaining things with verbal words rather than written words. A walk through demonstration and rationale discussion completed the WinMed experience. Learning about emergency lighting, testing of emergency lighting, fire extinguishers use/deployment/charge monitoring, sprinkler systems with backflow prevention valve, smoke detector yearly cleaning, cleaning of general areas including bathrooms, trash pickup and disposal, biohazard disposal, sharp containers, standard precautions, and biohazard facility pick up opened my eyes wide to a whole new world.

I can also get a better overview of what I am heading towards in the near future with the degree progress percentage bar. Here at, Athens Technical College there are a lot of resources that are available that are designed to help me succeed and to stay on track. Section E was the best group and we enjoyed every class together. I had Mrs. Zambetti. Mrs. Prisco, Mr. Perrotti, Mr. Justave, and Mrs. Rosiak who were all the most wonderful teachers. I’ll never forget Egypt Day when Shealyn and I made an amazing diorama of the Nile River, dressed up as Egyptians in togas, and put eyeliner on all the girls, even Dominick who could not get it off and had to keep it on for the rest of the day. It was so funny! Mediterranean Day was also very fun as we ate all types of Mediterranean foods such as humus, pita bread, grapes, baklava, and more. I went into my educational experience with a wealth of background knowledge about a wide range of topics related to academics, relationships, athletics, and religion. I grew up in a small South Carolina town on a block where there were 48 children who played between the backyards and the park across the street. During the summer, we did not come inside until the street lights came on, and we played kickball, basketball, and baseball regularly. We also spent hours exploring a creek a few blocks away, catching tadpoles or frogs and, if we were really lucky, even snakes. Many of the mothers did not work outside the home and included us as they cooked meals or baked. I was in the first class in our school system to go through completely integrated schools from kindergarten through graduation and witnessed the joy and difficulties associated with changing attitudes concerning “separate but equal.” Most of the families on our block were Lebanese Catholic, and even though we were not, we learned about religion from them as we walked with to and from the church almost weekly for their religious education classes. The significance of my practicum experience was by my involvement in a real world research project and my exposure to an extraordinary, collaborative team of physicians, professors, managers, research associates, students and statisticians. My community preceptor is Mrs. Laura Diekman, Program Research Manager for Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) Project at University of Texas Medical School, Rheumatology Department. The first phase of my practicum focused on learning data management processes by my involvement in the AS project. My specific role on the AS project was to ensure proper storage and coding of the five active sites participating in the research (CEDARS-California, NIH, SAN FRANSICO, HOUSTON and Australia) which constituted of approximately 4000 patients.
I feel as if I can apply what I have learned in my classes to my job. This helps me to better grasp what I have been taught. My classes have also helped me to grow at work. After learning about persuasive selling techniques, I was able to grow my credit selling techniques. This has helped me to become the top credit selling at my store. I am also able to help those struggling, and teach them how to improve selling techniques. As part of the module practical teaching programme, I have been helping out in the homework club of an inner city primary school, one hour per week for the past twelve weeks.
