Post- Teaching Reflection
What did you learn from your experiences teaching? I learned many things while teaching my science lesson but my biggest take away is always over plan. The more things you have prepared, the better! I felt very prepared for this lesson, more so with this lesson than any other lessons. I had been thinking and planning this lesson for weeks before actually teaching. I spent time collecting materials and was glad I gather enough so that every group did not have to be very big. Through this experience I learned a few things about classroom management. I believe that you can do a lot with students that you wouldn’t dream of doing. If you have good classroom management and the class expectations and rules are clear, your students will do just fine. My peers gave me some of the same advice about writing things on the board so students can see everything clearly. They also mentioned talking more in depth about the driving question instead of just stating it. I don’t really understand what that means because I feel like if we talk about it too much, that will give answers away and the inquiry part of the lesson will not exist anymore. Other than those two comments, they did not have any other suggestion but I took away some insightful information. My peers did not leave that many comments in the “suggestion” section of my paper, but our conversation after viewing my video was helpful because we talked about the positives of my lesson and it made me feel really good. One of my group mates said they were “embarrassed to show their video, because yours was amazing!” This made me feel really good about my teaching skills and I was happy to hear positive feedback from my peers. Personally, I think it is extremely important to get positive feedback after being told suggestions and the negative so you don’t get down on
