Canada has a lot of great cultures in some places, events and foods. Many countries have respective different cultures that has unique characteristic in each area. The feature was build up by the flow of history and personal thoughts. It is fascinating identity that the country has originally. That’s why, a lot of foreign tourists visit other countries to see and enjoy different cultures. When people feel different cultures, they can find everything novel and freshness. I was also attracted to the novelty to see such as nature and buildings in Canada. Among these Canadian cultures, I support that Richmond Night Market is a representative popular event as shown by description, background and my experience.

The origin of Night Markets was in China in the 8th century (Pottie-Sherman & Hiebert, 2012). Richmond was only small town between 18th and early 19th century (Rosenfeld, 1984). In 1990th, a lot of immigrants from Asia countries settled in Canada and Richmond was known as the “new Chinatown” (Pottle-Sherman &Hiebert, 2012). “The emergence of Asian-themed shopping malls and restaurants in Richmond, including the popular Richmond Night Market, suggests that Richmond might be considered a “Chinese ethnoburb”” (Dwyer, 2013, p13). I thought that it implied that Richmond changed by Chinese migration. Through the immigration, Canadian multicultural was created gradually. After Richmond Night Market started, the property of value of the parking increased by C$3 million during the period from 2003 to 2006. In the spring of 2008, Night Market discontinued. However, it began again because another entertainment company tried to conduct a new night market in a different location (Pottle-Sherman & Hiebert, 2012).
