This system uses each track as a means of creating a 360° mix. Albums like Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ and Mike Oldfield’s ‘Tubular Bells’ were recorded in Quadraphonic (as well as Stereo) but the system never really took off. It did however have a significant part to play in the development of surround sound. By 1970 the 16-track recorder was emerging in the rock scene of the United States though the Beatles stuck with the 8-track to record their final albums. Split bank designs became popular offering a main bank of faders used for the mic/line inputs, a separate bank controlling monitor levels and cue mixes and a final section used for other submixes and reverb chambers.
Now, I asked around for an idea of how long my speech should last, and the general response was about as long as it takes the groom to make love. So with that in mind, thank you, you have been a wonderful audience. (Sit and then get back up)
The Encounters podcast I listened to was “Episode Eighteen: The One about the Bell Witch”. The interviewers are Ellie Hasken and Jesse Fivecoate. The person being interviewed is Brandon Barker, a member of the IU folklore faculty. The supernatural creature mentioned in the podcast is the Bell Witch from Adams, Tennessee. Brandon Barker is from the nearby area in Tennessee and grew up hearing about the Bell Witch.
An audio engineer is responsible for the operation of the soundboard and other equipment in the recording of music, words, sounds, or any combination of such material. There are several types of engineering positions available in today's studios. In large studios, there are usually several engineers, each with the own duties and contributions. There are recording engineers, recording assistants, set-up engineers, maintenance engineers, and even mix-down engineers in some cases. In smaller studios the engineer is usually responsible for all of these duties. As a rule, the engineer should be able to set-up, use, and fix the equipment they work with.
When it comes to recording in a modern day environment DAW’s (digital audio workstation) are an essential piece of equipment if professional standard results are desired. Although DAW’s are considered a modern technological advancement the first attempt at a DAW was in 1977 and it came from Dr. Tom Stockham’s Soundstream (See references for full description) digital system. It had very powerful editing capabilities and for its time a very advanced crossfader but was still primitive compared to today’s standard. At this moment there are 100’s of DAW’s on the market but arguably there some obvious leaders. Avid’s Pro Tools has been the go to DAW for any professional studio for the past 20 years and although there have been rumors of Avid going out of business and the features in Pro Tools becoming dated, Pro Tools is still a viable option for studios worldwide. Logic Pro has risen to the fore-front of the industry in recent years due to its easy to use interface that is possible of producing professional results. Ableton Live strays away from a hardware instrument music environment to cater for electronic music users. Audio to MIDI is a main focus along with the critically acclaimed Max for Live used for live performances by many current EDM artists. Each individual DAW has its own pros and cons and comparing these can highlight which DAW is the best for what task.

What I thought was neat, was how the interviews took on a life of their own based on what we knew. Stephen was prepared to talk about pigs and how docking reduces tail biting. He also made a very good point about shearing. Andi answered most of her questions primarily from a dairy cattle perspective, and Emma emphasized the different methods for tail docking. Maybe I`m just concerned because I know what`s going through my head, but I feel like mine took a somewhat different aspect altogether. I really don`t know if that is good or bad. But I could have included information on reducing prolapses in sheep and had mentioned a lot more about tail-biting in pigs. I actually did most of my research on tail-biting in pigs. However, the “docking a pig`s tail too short” question probably caught me the most off guard. I honestly answered the question with what I knew happens when you dock a pig`s tail, as I know that those two symptoms occur after tail docking. However, he may have been looking for an even more specific answer for short
For this task the brief was to design the construction, soundproofing and acoustic treatment of a recording studio complex within a series of set constraints. The complex had to include a control room, living room, reception and bathroom, within an overall floor space of 15m x 15m. The main focus was to be on acoustic design with the use of scale drawings to make the studio clear and easy to understand. For this studio the idea was to design a space suitable for recording large ensemble groups such as orchestras and so the space was designed with this in mind when regarding the size, shape and layout of the space. Arguably two of the most important aspects when designing a studio complex are that the live and control rooms include a lot of natural light and that the communication between the artists and the studio team is free and easy. In the studio this has achieved this by creating a design similar to and inspired by ‘The Big Room’ at Real World Studios (Realworldstudios.com, 2013), where the ‘control room’ and ‘live room’ are actually all within the one space utilising the live end/dead end theory.
Audio cassettes have multiple purposes to it. It can be used as a tool for entertainment as well

Podcasting is a means of publishing audio and video content on the web as a series of episodes with a common theme. These episodes are accompanied by a file called a “feed” that allows listeners to subscribe to the series and receive new episodes automatically. Some people use the term “podcast” to refer to any distribution of audio/video content on the Web, but technically speaking, the feed and subscription model of file delivery is what differentiates podcasting from simply posting files on the Web. Think of podcasting like setting up an automatic bank draft to pay bills. For expenses that occur regularly over a prolonged period of time, like utility bills, the initial work of setting up a bank draft is worthwhile because it saves time and effort in the long run.
