Have you ever had something you love then it had to get taken away? Have you ever received a gift and then have everyone you know avoids you because of your gift? What if your gift was a pit bull. What if Owners of pit bulls were avoided because of their pit bull. Pit bulls are intentionally over reported by the media. If the dog breed is unknown the media will often call it a pit bull! Owners love and trust their pit bulls. People should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets.
One reason why I think pit bulls should not be banned is because they are unfairly targeted by the media. The media intentionally over reports incidents involving pit bulls. In addition, Pit bulls became a symbol of American pride. When James Cross got a pit bull and told his family and friends, people said to him that “their dangerous”
And they stopped coming to his house. He didn’t really mind. He really trusted his pit bull. That’s just how some of the people in America will feel. Stubby (a pit bull) once saved his entire platoon by warning them of a poison gas attack. He also came to a hero’s welcome! Those are some of my reasons why I think pit bulls should not be banned.
Finally, Pit bulls have been known throughout history. For example, Companies used pit bulls as mascots or companies in advertising and they remained popular in the 1950s and 60s as a respected breed. Pit bulls were everywhere in the media. Once again Stubby was an unofficial mascot. He was wounded twice in combat, but he was the first dog to be awarded Army Medals! Stubby also came home to a hero’s welcome!
