Humans can be dangerous and we do not ban them, so what makes it fair to ban pit bulls. Some pit bulls can be mean or violent, but not all. It is not fair if we ban the whole species from being pets, just because of what a few dogs did. People should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets. Pit bulls should be allowed as pets because they can be helpful, the media over-reports attacks, and people should give every dog a chance. Pit bulls should be allowed as pets due to the fact that they can be helpful. In World War 1 a pit bull named Stubby became very helpful. He saved an entire platoon by warning them of a poisonous gas attack. That proves that not all pit bulls are cruel and vicious and that some can even be helpful. According to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), the media exaggerates pit bull attacks. Even if they do not know the breed, any stocky, short-haired dog could be a pit bull. The media keeps enforcing the public that pit bulls are bad dogs. Even though the media says that all pit bulls are bad, people should still give every dog a chance. People should not judge a whole breed of dogs on the poor actions of what a few dogs did. People should realize that they need to give every dog a chance. In Ohio state there was a bill that automatically labeled pit bulls as dangerous. That bill was soon overturned and now the legal responsibility for proving that a dog deserves its label, is from the dogs owner. Some people believe that pit bulls are breed for fighting and therefore they are dangerous. However, a pit bulls owner could be doing this to the dog.
