Per Supervisor Deputy Warden J. Kroeger I was instructed to issue a 10 day quarantine to the dog

The police responded to a tip that a home was being used to sell drugs. When they arrived at the home, Gant answered the door and stated that he expected the owner to return home later. Nationwide, approximately 50 percent of all children will be bitten by a dog before they reach the age of twelve (DeIorio, “Have a Dog-Bite-Free Summer”). In Marion County, Florida, aggressive and dangerous breads of dogs are a “serious issue” for the community according to Marion County Commissioner Jim Payton (Thompson, “County drops '1 free kill'”). Responsible dog owners seem to be unaware of the problem but area residents who have been victims of these attacks have turned to the Marion County Board of Commissioners for help. The local County Commissioners have been wrestling with this issue since October of 2009 when a widow from Ocklawaha, Patricia McBee, had three of her dogs euthanized after they allegedly killed her neighbor’s cat (Thompson, “County drops ‘1 free kill’”). The need for change moved even faster after a 3-year-old little girl was attacked and killed by a dog that was chained to a tree outside her house in Citra (Lee, “Girl, 3, mauled”).
Animals become dangerous because they were maltreated by their owners and when the media has exaggerated the danger of its breed to the public. A very good example of lies in society is the concept of the people on the breed of Pit bull Terriers.
Owning a pit bull in today’s society people normally have one of two reactions: Either people love them or is frightened of them. There are many myths about pit bulls, which people confuse with the actual truth about this dog breed. A common myth about a pit bull is that they have locking jaws. However, people who fear pit bulls or have little knowledge about them base their opinion off of what others say. But, pit bulls do not have locking jaws, they have powerful muscles in their jaws that enable them to keep it closed an make people believe that it is locked up. Additionally, supporters of pit bulls know that these days are very powerful and have intimidating appearance, but these dogs are not “killer machines” as the media portrays them to be. Pit bulls are just like any other dog. It depends on how a pit bull or any dog is raised by their owner to determine the characteristics of the dog. I have raised my dog CoCo since she was a little puppy and she is just as sweet as she can be.
Because I had never owned a pit bull, and because of all the stories, I informed my daughter that we would research information concerning not only the breed, but also his care. There were more than a few books of information. I bought a book entitled, “Pitbull’s for Dummies”. This book not only describes the history of the breed, but informs new owners of the care that these dogs require. Also, I learned what kind of toys were best suited for him. I went shopping and created a play pen which had a crate in it. I put the puppy bed in the crate with blankets, and stuck all his stuffed animals around the crate. The floor was covered in potty pads. I was informed by the lady at the store that it would make the transition of a new home easier,
When you hear Pit Bulls; what is the first thing that comes into your mind? Maybe, mean or just flat out dangerous dogs. Many people have Pit Bulls and say they are great dogs and that they are great family pets. Many still think they are not safe to have as pets and some states are even trying to ban the ownership of Pit Bulls. I believe that Pits are good family dogs and that people have the wrong idea about these dogs.
I don't believe Pitt bulls are born to be mean. In every litter of pups that any breed of dog has there is one out of the litter that has a dominate side to it as well as one that is shy. Pit bulls are no different than the other breeds. Their master determines the behavior and aggressiveness, just as any other breed of dog's behavior. Pit bulls are gentle dogs if trained and raised properly. They like to be lap dogs as well as receive and give attention to their masters.
Should people be allowed to keep Pit Bulls as a pet? I hear this being debated all the time. I hear on the news how states have banned this dog. Its sad, the dog has done nothing wrong. I think its the owners fault, the dogs were raised to fight. The dogs don't know any different, they had to fight to survive.
The pit bull is one of the most feared, misunderstood, and abused breed of dog. Some commonly known reasons that they are considered to be so dangerous is because of their tendency to "lock their jaws" and their underdevelopment of the skull. Due to how the brain grows, the skull will crush the brain and mess with its function. Although these are only two reasons giving detail as to why one may think pit bulls are dangerous, there are dozens to prove how they are just as friendly as any other breed. Contrary to people 's belief, pit bulls are not born, but raised to be dangerous.
A few days ago, while walking my dog, I decided to run with him but with the leash in my hand, so that way he could be free to stop and sniff wherever he wanted. This experience was very good for the dog because he was not tied to the limits that I provided, but he was always by my side running. A couple of minutes after being “free” a policeman showed up. To my surprise he was upset with me and said that having a dog without control was a big misdemeanor. Then, he proceed to take my information and gave me a citation to the Municipal Court of The Colony, while my dog was still trying to sniff around, like nothing different was happening. Afterwards, I looked for places or parks that were dog-friendly in order to take my dog, and that wa...
Owning a pit bull in today’s day and age has one of two reactions: Either the person loves them or is terrified of them. There are so many myths about Pit Bulls and they are just that. Myths. Some of the myths that surround pit bulls are that they have “lock jaw” and they have a killer instinct that does not stop at just killing other animals. Pit bull advocates, such as myself, know that Pit Bulls have always been known as the “nanny dog” throughout history because of how much they love children and their loyalty to their families. Mean or vicious dogs come from ignorant, irresponsible owners. The bottom line is that not all pit bulls are bad.
There are a lot of myths about pit bulls that are very common and people believe they are true, Is it true that pit bull’s have a locking jaw and can't let go once they bite? This statement is not true, pit bulls have the exact same anatomical features as other dogs. They do not have locking jaws.It is just simply not true.Humans believe that pit bulls bite or attack more than any other dog. Study shows that the most popular breeds at any given time tend to top the list because there are more of those dogs in the general population. Also the American veterinary medical association has found that no breed is more dangerous than any other dog breed. Pit bulls have a more powerful bite that any other dog breed. According to Dr.Brisbin “To the
Pitbulls are one of my most favorite animals. There are two different kinds there's a blue nose and a red nose. At one point and time pit bulls were very famous animals. They played in a variety of movies. Pits are not as bad as people think they are.
