A pipeline welder is my post secondary plan. A pipeline welder is someone who travels place to place to weld on pipelines. My uncle is a pipeline welder he travels to offshore rigs or to different countries to weld on pipes that his company uses to drill for oil. These welders make between $50,000 to $185,000 a year. This job requires at least a high school diploma others employers look for certifications from technical schools. I take some high school classes to know what I need to wear and to do before I start welding. On one of the websites I got reseach from it said that I will need training before entering this career path. A welder in Texas says that you can start at the bottom as a welder’s helper and make money while you learn and have an opportunity to learn from those who are making a living at it. The reason why you need training is so when you go on a job you don’t hurt someone or even hurt yourself. …show more content…
Pipeline welders get paid between 50,000 to 185,000 a year. Pipeline welders get paid so much money is because they’re gone from home for long periods of time. Another reason is because they are going to work in different countries. Welding might be a good paying job but it is a dangerous also. Welding is a dangerous job because you can hurt your eyes from the flash if you don’t wear eye protection. Yes pipeline welding dangerous, but it is wrong because it is only dangerous when proper safety precautions aren’t taking place. Welding is dangerous because pieces of metal can fall on you and you can get flash burn. And you can be exposed to gases, fires, explosions, and electric shock. But the only way these things happen is when safety measures are ignored. The career I want to get into is pipeline welding because of the money and traveling. The career is a well paying job and you can travel but you can’t be

Welding is a very important job in today’s society. With new building designs, and bridges to every day metal products, welders are needed to do these tasks. Almost everything that you use every day has some sort of weld to it.
Welding was invented in the 1900s but lets go back a little to middle age that was when blacksmithing was the best method to use before welding. Now Edmund Davy of England was the one who discovered acetylene in 1836. Some of the others inventors were Auguste De Meritens who worked on how heating of an arc can join two pieces of metal, C.L. Coffin was one one who created a welding process with an electrode. There was other people that helped make welding more efficient. As the years past by welding was getting...
Welding is very important to society and the way we live. It is used for building the oil and gas pipeline. Also, it is used for making plane and auto parts. Most welding is done in aircraft plants and in custom fabrication shops. Other welding jobs are done on the pipeline all over America. Without welding, everyone would be without vehicles and any other form of transportation. Also, there would be no commercial buildings as welding is a major part of the foundation and structure. Our modern way of life would be completely different without welding.
I am interested in auto repair as a career because I love to work with my hands and I like taking on challenges. The collision industry is growing and it will only continue to grow, manufacturers will design new vehicles every year, keeping my job interesting, challenging and fun. What I hope to achieve in the collision industry is open a custom shop with my cousin, he is currently attending Lincoln tech to be a gas/diesel technician. I enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard after I turned 17; after I graduated high school in May 2012 I went to basic training and advanced individual training to be a machinist and welder. I returned home April 2013 not knowing what I wanted to do, even though I enjoyed welding I didn’t see myself as a welder for the rest of my life so I enrolled in Austin Community College to study criminal justice and started working security part time.
The things that most of the Pipeworks workers did after they finished their jobs were play cards in small group, have salamander races, or just talk and sleep.
There is no real place for them because they are needed everywhere. The 12% is going to happen between 2014-2024. It is proclaimed that it will be the largest job increases of any job of that type. It is going to be that way because every time something is built that has pipes a steamfitter is needed. The way the trend is going is to natural gas, which involves a pipeline which they will need steamfitters to make and fit up.Every fracking and oil rig they build they will need welders/steamfitters.In 2014 there were 42500 job openings in the US for welders/steamfitters. It is estimated there will be 474100 welding/steamfitting job openings in the US by 2024.The reason there is a big amount of job openings is that people keep moving forward and moving forward means building stuff to keep up to date, Which means there will be welding/steamfitter jobs for years to come.(Bureau of Labor
Pipefitting is a good trade; it is a very common job in Eastern Kentucky. It is fairly easy to become one in Kentucky. Most of the time a pipefitter is carrying on from his/her family, say that it has been going on for generations and they just keep it going.
My career of choice is a diesel mechanic. I have wanted to be a diesel mechanic for my whole middle school and high school career. I want to do this job because I want to be like my uncle, he is the top diesel mechanic in the US. The thing that grabbed my interest is I like to work on things and fix things so I figured this would be a good job. I really do any concerns in getting my degree as a diesel mechanic. This job would money to keep my family alive and very well fed. I could also have a nice truck and side by side.
Jonathan Atteberry claims, “T.I.G welding is difficult to learn and requires an elaborate welding rig of skills. It also uses a lot of electricity to make the welds clean and spatter less” (Parag 5). T.I.G welding is hard to learn because people have different hand coordination.... ... middle of paper ...
“The minimum degree needed is a bachelor degree with the degree field being civil, mechanical or structural engineering. A license for a professional engineer (P.E) is also required to be an engineer (How To Become A Pipeline Engineer)”. Designing pipelines takes a bachelor's degree because the pipelines need to last long, be strong, and survive harsh weather and the more school you have the more you learn; if a pipeline were to burst or leak it would harm the environment, animals, and cost a lot to clean the mess. A professional engineer license (P.E) is a license you get after you take and pass a test of what you know about engineering, with the license you find a job easier and get higher pay. “At least 1and up to 5 years of experience is required for most positions”(How To Become A Pipeline Engineer). Pipelining is a very dangerous job and employers want new employees that have at least a year of experience that being an apprentice of a senior pipeline engineer or getting an internship at a company. That way when you start out you know a little bit about the job and you don't go out and hurt someone or possibly kill someone. Companies that have required at least a year of experience have seen a decrease in work related accidents as opposed to those who hire works straight out of
Welding is an art, science, and high paying career all in one. Welding is the most effective way to join two pieces of metal, it is the only way to join them so they act as one.
