Introduction
In this article, it summarizes the importance of successful entrepreneurs and how they provide assistance in their client's needs. However, it also provides a new concept of critical thinking and establishes a new focus of a new certification for new entrepreneurs in the BDC. The director of social entrepreneurship, Craig Ryan at the BDC identifies this new certification as the 'Certified Beneficial Corporation' also known as the B-Crop Movement. (Krasowski, S. (2017, September 19th). Canada dealing with a new breed of entrepreneurs. The Chronicle Journal, pp. A1, A5.) The new certification creates many benefits for these new entrepreneurs who are willing to improve business success and review the evaluations they've done in protecting the environment.
Numerous reports state that 'Buy-Local' had the most powerful consumer trend in
Canada for 2 specific reasons. Craig Ryan stated, "Ninety-seven percent said they wanted to buy local because they wanted to help create local prosperity and there is a perception that local goods are environmentally superior." (Craig Ryan, director of social entrepreneurship, Chronicle Journal, pp. A1.) During his meeting, Craig Ryan refers to how successful entrepreneurs stabilize the environments of homeless people as an example

A man who owns a beer brewery named Steve, took part of this operation by organizing a strategy that could motivate the hearts of homeless people. What Steve had done was astonishing. He searches for homeless people to be hired by him and work by delivering beer to those who order online directly from Steve's website. He tends to keep his business locally in order to communicate with the world. As a result, local business owners were pleased with the development of Steve's brewery growing
Most individuals would suggest creating a homeless shelter, but that solution is unrealistic due to budgets, and the lack of funds from the community and Calvary Chapel. The cost of these solutions is reasonable and within reach. The solution will provide jobs and offer a sense of self-esteem most homeless have lost. The homeless as well as the community will thrive from this program and lives will be changed. Individuals, who were stuck on the street cold and alone, will be given the opportunity to go out and make a change in their lives. Although, many might suggest that many homeless are ex drug addicts or alcoholics, there are many who do not have the financial stability to survive and live a life of normality but will do what it takes to change their situation. Hess suggests that, “What many people need is an opportunity to get back on their feet and develop their own income” (Feuer, 2012, para.15). My solution offers this opportunity and by implementing it, homeless will have the power to change their
The subject of the final paper will be concentrating on the homeless people in America, and how we, as American citizens can become a voice and reduce the number of people living in the streets, cars, or wherever they can find shelter for the night. This journal will look at the subject and the path I will need follow to accomplish the task.
When people see the homeless, they are quick to assume whether the homeless are where they’re at because of drugs, or not being in a stable environment. However, homeless people rarely receive an opportunity to tell their life stories or even have the chance to explain how they ended up in the situations they are in. Homelessness in Boston has persisted and increased for decades. Though there have been efforts to combating the issues of homelessness and housing, it appears that there is no solution in sight. Winter have become nightmares for most of the homeless population in Boston. Weather ranges from thirty degrees down to ten, sometimes single numbers. Weather that is below freezing are moments where people like myself, need to be in warm places. Kourtney McLean is a woman financially and emotionally not stable enough to take care of herself. Ms. McLean has been living on the streets for almost all her life --homeless and struggling to get on her
The National Coalition for the Homeless (2006) is the most effective strategy as it seeks to address the problem of homelessness through various means, including volunteer work, advocacy efforts, and contributions. Firstly, the strategy requires people to volunteer their time to work directly with the victims of homelessness in the city to help them meet their immediate needs. People can volunteer their time to work with children in various programs, share hobbies, and help build houses and shelters among others (Miller, Hess, & Orthmann, 2011). This is extremely important and can help victims of homelessness to acquire some of the basic needs they lack.
This article challenges the reader with questions and dilemmas. Can I go without my daily cup of coffee to offer hope to someone in need? Should I spare this man a dollar if all he plans on doing with it is buy booze or get high with it? Can I actually spare my money? I am sure she’s only homeless because she is addicted to drugs!

homelessness” (Belcher, J.R., & Deforge, B. R., 2012) . The institutions itself creates an avenue to have people
Homelessness is a vast predicament in America and around the world. It is severely overlooked as people don’t really think of homelessness as real world problem. However, there have been ways that people have tried to fix the problem. They have come up with homeless shelters, emergency shelters, food banks and soup kitchens. These solutions have limitations though, which will hopefully come to an end.
In Thompson’s article, he executes numerous studies and polls to question what homeless people truly need the most, with “help finding a job” (Thompson) coming out with the highest percentage. This poll relates the fact that although loose change might help the destitute for a day or two, providing a way to change the life of that person would have a greater benefit. Correspondingly, Magill explains how the city of Grand Junction is tackling the issue of homelessness. Mayor Teresa Coons is at the head of this plan to help the needy, by “conven[ing] a City Council subcommittee on homelessness soon after she took office” (Magill). This subcommittee focuses its attention on the public face of homelessness, and solutions on how to decrease those affected by it. Giving examples of factual steps taken to deal with this issue creates effective arguments for both authors. The use of logos within each article is proof to each authors’ claim, and adds to the argument itself. Although Thompson proposes the same claim as in the article “Grand Junction comes to terms with homeless”, Magill reports on a solution put forth to help the crisis of homelessness. The subcommittee is the direction both articles argue is needed, yet in Magill’s article, the direction is being done rather than proposed. This evidence provided from both articles is focused on similar goals, yet

This article researchers the homelessness problem in Dallas. In this article, they research a daytime service center in Dallas. The Stewpot is a center that offers a range of benefits. The author used this center to draw a conclusion of the homelessness problem in Dallas. They used in to look at the different reasons that a person became homeless, who was the homeless population, and what can be changed. It also focused on what Dallas has done to fix the homeless population. Homelessness is found in every urban society. When I was traveling in Europe the problem became very clear to me. In Vilnius, Lithuania, there was a young man, about my age, that would be in the same area every time I visited the city. This man would often ask for food,
To demonstrate, in the article”Virtually All Homeless People Experience Discrimination”, Keyes revealed that,”one respondent noted that they had been told they couldn’t enter a coffee shop “due to my attire, push cart, my extra bags” (Keyes 1). All people who are in need of aid are able to obtain employment and training under the Workforce Investment Act, WIA. 70.4 percent of the homeless reported that they have felt discriminated against by private businesses. An extensive amount of homeless are homeless cannot find jobs because they are handicapped or have unstable minds. Many of the homeless who are not currently working are making a very large effort in trying to find any job out there and available, but they are constantly being discriminated against by the work force. In fact, in the book The Homeless Opposing Viewpoints backs up the fact the homeless want jobs by stating,”Since 2000, they have seen a doubling amount of homeless applicants still scrabbling to maintain jobs”(The Homeless
After reading the first two chapters of Building Social Business, I was moved. I was inspired. Yunus opened my eyes to another side of business, which in his words was selfless. And indeed it was selfless. Social business is truly selfless because it focuses on helping others and earning profit comes second. By reading this book and reflecting, I realized it is better to be part of the solution rather than be part of the problem. By looking at my community, at my environment, and at my experiences in life, there are problems that will need solutions and I firmly believe that having a social business is the solution. By my observation, slow public utilities, expensive medicine, and empowering marginalized sectors are problems that can be solved by putting up social businesses. By combining entrepreneurial mindset and experience, social awareness, and creativity, the ideal social business can be done. But what makes a social business truly a social business is the
Photojournalism plays a critical role in the way we capture and understand the reality of a particular moment in time. As a way of documenting history, the ability to create meaning through images contributes to a transparent media through exacting the truth of a moment. By capturing the surreal world and presenting it in a narrative that is relatable to its audience, allows the image to create a fair and accurate representation of reality.
This great nation of awesome power and abundant resources is losing the battle against homelessness. The casualties can be seen on the street corners of every city in American holding an ?I will work for food? sign. Homeless shelters and rescue missions are at full capacity. There is no room at the inn for the nation?s indigent. Anyone who has studied this issue understands that homelessness is a complex problem. Communities continue to struggle with this socio-economic problem while attempting to understand its causes and implement solutions. The public and private sectors of this country are making a difference in the lives of the homeless by addressing the issues of housing, poverty and education.
