Pete Turner is best known as one of the first masters of colored photography. His reach and influence on other photographers, along with people who simply see his photos is absolutely outstanding. Many of his photos were seen to alter reality, because they were so well compostitioned. The contrast between the bright colors and the dark colors is one that is unmatched amongst other photographers. While Turner has recently passed away at age 83 due to cancer, his legacy as a photographer will live on forever. Turner is obviously known for his vibrant pictures using color. His photos are able to draw attention to them in a way that no other photographer can. In fact, this is the exact reason that I chose to do an analysis on his work. He is so …show more content…
My personal opinion on Pete Turner’s work is that it is absolutely outstanding. Many photographers do not use the vibrant colors and sharp contrast in the images like Turner does. I am a person that enjoys colors which is why I find his work so interesting. To be completely honest, i had never heard of Pete Turner before this assignment, and I was googling all of the other photographers prior to coming upon his work. Many of the other photographers I came across were very similar, they were either dark or had very little color and quite frankly were boring and uninteresting to look at. However, when i googled Turner’s images, I immediately knew he was the photographer I wanted to analyze. The bright colors drew me in in such a way that i could not help but continue to look at his photos over and over again. Perhaps my favorite photo by him is New Dawn-Heimaey. This photo is absolutely outstanding, the bright colors in the sky along with the contrast of the darkness down below makes this photo absolutely amazing. However, this is not his only photo that is like this, almost his entire collection is amazing colorful pictures with this fantastic contrast. Many other colored photographers have tried to emulate

Vincent Van Gogh never gave up his style and insight in his early work compared to his later work. I will discuss the comparison of the Potato Eaters and Starry Night and even though there are obvious differences, the core of his passion and eccentricities can be seen.

In this series of essays, photographer and teacher Guy Tal shares his thoughts and experiences as an artist who seeks to express more in his images than the mere appearance of the subject portrayed. The photographer covers topics such as the art of photography, approaches to landscape photography, and the experiences of a working photographic artist. The most significant thing that makes his art standout is how he cleverly supports something or someone, or criticizes something or someone or even make the people question their surrounding environment. Ryan McGinley’s earliest photography days from from 1998 to 2003 are the showcase of the exhibit. According to MCA Denver, “The photographs present intimate moments of both exhilaration and introspection, often within a mundane setting, and demonstrate a sweeping range of emotions. McGinley’s works capture the essence of his lifestyle at the time: gritty, daring, and focused on moments of both pleasure and tedium, as well as illicit activities. Un-staged and unedited, McGinley’s use of light imbues all of the works with an intensity and profound emotional depth.” McGinley’s way of portraying exact moments with unedited raw footage, is what makes his photography so relatable in a sense. McGinley’s work displays the recklessness his tightknit friend group lived by. He captured the lives of his transgressive friends, the drama in their lives, and brought together his audience with highly intimate
In her collection of essays On Photography, she states, “Strictly speaking, one never understands anything from a photograph” (17). This statement is wrong as photography has the power to help people realize what occurs in the world and make a change. One of the most famous photos of National Geographic is the “Afghan Girl”. Photographer Steve McCurry took the shot of a young Afghanistan child with haunted sea green eyes who had seen the devastation

In another part of the world, pictorialist esthetics was admired and practiced by a significant figure in the history of photography was the American artist named Albert Stieglitz (1864 - 1946), who was an amateur artist, and a photographer who started a gallery in New York city. Stieglits also wrote a journal called Camera Work featuring the works of other pictorialists in his era. All these movements made a great impact to engrave photography as a new form in the history of fine arts. Similarly, the method of using brush strokes effect was used by the American-born photographer Frank Eugene (1865 – 1936) but in a different style of photos.
