Our pets have become so much a part of our lives and our families that we think nothing of taking them along with us whenever possible. For many people, including their pet in special occasions is especially important. More and more on Halloween we see entire families including their dog all dressed up for the holiday and going from door to door.

Shopping for the perfect pet Halloween costume is more fun and easier than ever before as over the last couple of years costume choices for pets, particularly dogs have grown by leaps and bounds. Since most pet dogs and cats are used to wearing collars they are more comfortable with something that fits around their necks. Capes, that flap around your pets legs may startle them and make them anxious, so you might want to stick to shorter capes that only go along their back and part way down their sides.

If you are planning on taking your dog trick or treating with you and want him to wear a pet Halloween costume then order the costume in advance and have your pet wear it for short periods of time before Halloween. This will give your pet time to get used to the unfamiliar feel and smell of the costume and make him more comfortable wearing it while you are out and about with your family.

If you start training your pet to wear his costume early, you can gradually increase the time he keeps it on as he gets more comfortable and used to wearing it.
