Peru is a country in the coast of South America, it is a developing country with a non- modernized economy. It struggles to keep up with a constantly growing population. There is a poor transportation network, limited agriculture, histories with going into debt but, improvement over the past couple of years. Major places like Peru Ecuador. And Bolivia have major industries such as food processing, mining, wood products, textiles, petroleum, and more. Their major agricultural products would be cacao, balsa wood, shrimp, cotton, sugarcane, and more. (Doc B)Some more major places in South America in South America like Chile and Argentina make most of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and employ over half of the population. They produce grains, fruits such as grapes, and beef cattle, (Doc C) South Americas history many interesting types of civilizations like Aztec of around A.D. 1200- A.D 1521. (Doc 1) South America has some amazing features but also has a downside. From the 1950’s to now more people live in urban areas rather than rural areas unlike 1950 with most of the population living in rural areas. (Doc D) Today in Brazil, one of the largest economies in the world, there is a very large gap between the rich and the poor. Government is trying to build a bridge between the gap but this is hard knowing that 2% of the population are higher class. (Doc E) Around the Amazon River there is forest. But deforestation is making all this go away based on a survey taken in 2000-2005, Most of it is caused by Cattle Ranches. About 35% is taken up by small-scale, subsistence agriculture, The rest taken up by fires, urbanization construction, logging and large scale commercial agriculture. (Doc

Did you know that Peru is one of the top ten countries to visit in the world? (UNWTO) Peru has unique music and energetic dances that are fun to see. The people are friendly and charming; they would be happy to help one find their way if they need help. But, the main reason Peru appears on the top ten list is because of its unique geographical features. Some examples are the Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu and Cusco. The art and culture of the Peruvians, as well as the people themselves, and the popular places to go, are what tourists like to see in Peru.

One of the largest issues facing the Global South today is food security. In many cases food security is closely associated with agriculture in a specific area. Due to several issues faced by post war agriculture in Sierra Leone a food security issue has arisen leading to income/consumption poverty. One of the issues facing in Sierra Leone is the number of citizens choosing to work in the mining industry as opposed to working in agriculture. Another issue faced by the agriculture industry in Sierra Leone is the displacement of many farm families due to the civil war and the affect it has on food production. The agriculture industry in Sierra Leone also faces this issue of rice importation into the country which lowers the income of farmers. These issues faced by the agriculture sector in Sierra Leone have lead to problems with food security and poverty.
While practically every health indicator has improved in Peru in the past thirty years, these improvements have not been distrusted equally across the population. Most of the progress has occurred in urban areas, especially in the capital city of Lima, with the rural population lagging behind. It is easy to assume that all of the disparity results from the poverty that exists in the region According to the Population Reference Bureau (2015), the amount of people living below the poverty line is 36% higher in rural areas than in urban areas. While poverty is definitely a causative factor in the disparities that exist, in this paper I will examine some of these inequalities and show that the geographical isolation of many rural communities is
One of the advantages of globalization on a communal grade is an increased Human Development Index. The Human Development catalogue is a estimation of a country's communal, political, and economical development in comparison to other countries in the world. The Human Development catalogue rates each country with a tally between 0 and 1, with 1 being the most advanced, globalized homeland. components that are engaged in determining a country's HDI are gross household output per capita, life expectancy at birth, mature person scholarly, and the number of persons enrolled in informative organizations. In 1975, Peru's Human Development catalogue was a 0.643. By 2003, the Human Development catalogue had risen more than one tenth to 0.762. The substantial boost of Peru's HDI is a clear indication that globalization has made a affirmative influence. From 1975 until 2003, globalization has caused a 2% boost in the adult literacy rate. throughout the same time time span, the scarcity rate to fallen 6%. Wom...
Latin American and Caribbean are one of the richest countries when it comes to natural resources. The natural resources that they have are some of the most useful ones in the world and that consists of gold, oil, iron, sugar and many more. World Bank stated that “Latin America produced around 80 percent of the world's silver in the 16th through 19th centuries, fueling the monetary systems of not only Europe, but China and India as well”. This shows that Latin America had so much natural resources that others depended on them. Since Latin America and the Caribbean has all of this resources, they need to develop their production and raise their GDP. Also there are no investments or any business in these countries to make use of the resources
Globalization is a series of social, economical, technological, cultural, and political changes that promote interdependence and growth. Globalization raises the standard of living in developing countries, spreads technological knowledge, and increases political liberation. (Harris 5-23) The main cause of globalization is influence from other, more developed, countries. Globalization is a historical process that results from human innovation and technological progress. The social effects of globalization are clearly illustrated in Peru. Once a third-world country filled with poverty and oppression, Peru is now transitioning into a developed nation. In Peru, globalization has raised the human development index, empowered women, and created a stronger country. (Leon 90-91)
A very important event in Peruvian history is how Peru gained its independence from Spain. It all started with an uprising of Spanish-American landowners and their forces were led by Jose de San Martin of Argentina and Simon Bolivar of Venezuela. Because Peru was the stronghold of the Spanish government in South America, Argentine patriot, General San Martin’s strategy to liberate Peru was to use diplomacy. He sent representatives to Lima urging Viceroy Pazuela that Peru be granted independence, however all negotiations proved unsuccessful. They then launched Peru’s movement toward independence.
Madagascar is among the countries that are termed as least developed in the world today (United Nations, 2001). The implementation of trade agreement based on agriculture sector led to sluggishness in the various market dynamics of the available grains. In addition to this, the quantity of grains was declining and as a consequence of this, the revenues generated declined at an alarming rate. The country was therefore obliged to opt for food import. This step was taken as a result of reduction in the amount of aid granted to the government, and subsequent subsidization of exports. Since Madagascar could not afford to offer export subsidization, the country’s exports were highly affected by the established policies such as non-tariff measures.
It also lacks clean water and basic sanitation especially in rural areas, thus increasing the pertinent health problems. These basic standard of living issues are affecting people around the country, also contributing to the low livability, for citizens are not provided a safe environment to live in. Without basic sanitation, illness spreads quickly raising the risk of a possible outbreak, endangering the country in the future. Additionally, the main people affected by an outbreak first, are going to be those in poverty who can’t afford to live as clean of a life as the higher class citizens. Luckily, since Evo Morales has been in office, the percentage of people living in poverty has decreased from 60% to 40% from 2006-2017, and the unemployment rate has now decreased to 4%. Unfortunately in recent years, there has been insufficient investment in the country’s mining and hydrocarbons raising obstacles for Bolivia’s economy, but a recent plan has been approved to maintain a growth of 5%, and to reduce poverty by 2020. Along with economic troubles, Bolivia has also been encountering some communication
As Martin walks through the Amazon Rainforest with his guide, the humidity causes his hands to become clammy. Since the rainforest is on the equator the heat and the humidity causes his shirt to cling to his back like paper and glue. To Martin the forest seemed to be alive. In only 250 acres Pablo had showed him about 1,000 different types of plants in just half an acre. Apparently there were over 6,000 types of plants in just 250 acres. Pablo also showed him the diversity of the animals in the Amazon Rainforest. He pointed out the different monkeys that were swinging from tree to tree which caused the trees to shake. His guide, Pablo, shows Martin all the different species of snakes while they are slithering through the undergrowth. Then Pablo shows Martin his home. The one out of the few places someone can do this is in Peru. Located in South America, Peru has one of the world’s most diverse life. The Pacific Ocean borders this country to the west. It shares a border with four other South American countries. In the north is bordered by Ecuador and Colombia. In the west is the country of Brazil and bordering it in the south is Bolivia. Lima, the capital of Peru, is one of the most populated cities in this country. It has about 8,180,000 residents in the city. Some may describe this city as noisy and crowded. It is like this because an increasing amount of people are leaving the farms and more rural areas to come to cities for more opportunities. Almost twice the size of Texas Peru is the third largest country in South America. With an area in square mile of 496,225, this country holds about 27,947,000 people.
Tambopata Peru is one of the poorest and most underdeveloped regions of Latin America. The area is home to undernourished children, lack of secure work and education.
