Time for the Talk As parents, the birds-and-the-bees talk with their child/children is one of the most dreaded points of their parenthood that they have to face. As a result, many parents tend to refrain from introducing their children to the subject altogether, and may end up backfiring with the generation of youth having to learn everything regarding to the birds-and-the-bees on their own. Though there are sex education classes in schools that teach the dos, don’ts, and dangers of the birds-and-the-bees, they tend to only scratch the surface of the subject, leaving the children with more questions rather than answers. That is why it is imperative that the parents take the initiative to teach their children about the birds-and-the-bees themselves. The parents should firstly introduce and explain what the physical differences are between males and females, more specifically the genital area. This would immediately alleviate the toughest part of the birds-and-the-bees talk, and would more than likely answer the biggest question the child/children may have next to where babies come from. The parents should be upfront with the explanation, and avoid using any type of fake scenarios such as a stork leaving a baby on one’s doorstep. The parents need to explain what sperm and ovaries are, and how a single sperm makes contact with an ovary, and fertilizes it. Then, the parents need to explain how it takes around 9 months of time for the child to develop. If the child is a girl, then it should be explained that all types of non-prescribed drugs and alcohol needs to be avoided in order to prevent birth defects during the stages of development. Then, the parents should mention how a woman goes into labor after the 9 or so months have elapsed. This should cover up the majority of any questions that a child may have about where babies come
